Hi I am on dzo's latest aurora ics. 4.1 update 1a
I'm having problems connecting to playstore and youtube via 3g.
Wifi works fine and I can use browser on 3g just not those apps.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers.
Jamie
well i have the pro version but i have similar problems with you. it's not that the apps are not working, but the browsing in these apps is really really slow? am i right?
maybe some build.prop & init.d tweaks about 3g make a difference there. i haven't tried any of them in aurora but you can check them out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709836

1. What videos Codecs (Not formats, sry) does the Xoom play Natively?
2.Where is the Native video chat app?
3.Why are so many app missing from Market? (Tango, etc)
4. Would Spar-parts app stretch apps to fit screen like Samsung tab? (no sure how it would work in honeycomb)
5. Anyone else have tethering problem? Im using my Droid X to Provide data for my xoom. Barnacle wont work and Wireless tether Keep disconnecting.
6.Is there a native File browser app?
7. Can you make folders on the home screen?
8. Anyone else having problems installing apps from the Market? (Get stuck at installing stage)
and Finally.....
9.Is there an update coming out any time soon???
I know this thing and new but i feel like I'm missing some info. Hope someone can answer a few.
Thanks
2.Where is the Native video chat app? Google talk
3.Why are so many app missing from Market? (Tango, etc) Limited tablet optimized apps right now
4. Would Spar-parts app stretch apps to fit screen like Samsung tab? (no sure how it would work in honeycomb) Spare parts app has been used to help with compatibilty similar to the Galaxy tab
5. Anyone else have tethering problem? Im using my Droid X to Provide data for my xoom. Barnacle wont work and Wireless tether Keep disconnecting. There is a hotspot feature instead of the tethering
9.Is there an update coming out any time soon??? The only update we have heard is when 4G module is installed with firmware.

2) Gtalk is preinstalled
3) Apps that will not work with the x-large mdpi format will not show up
4) Yes, spare parts works and does
5) I've used bluetooth tether and wifi tether and they both work flawless
6) No, most android phones don't come with a file browser, there are no files to browse usually unless you are looking at the sdcard or in this case the internal memory.
7) Not yet, but there is so much space, go nuts
8) No
9) Nothing announced, but what do you think? We've had 2.2/2.3/3.0/2.4 announced in the last Year and a half...
7. Not natively but I use Simi folder from the market. Works great. I am sure there are others.

Have you tried 720p HP?
While chatting in IRC "cos" brings this to our/ my attention, that it seems like location based apps are now missing and deemed incompatible with the Adam.
Well this seems to be new in the last week, maybe even since the weekend.
I had several apps installed on my Adam from the market; dolphin browser HD and mini, as well as Locus Free, firefox, google maps, gps status and many others are now missing and grey'd out as incompatible with the Adam through the online android market.
Anyone else notice this?

They show for me but I'm running the CM7 ROM.
still there for me on Beast
I am on stock beta, used the market + root + adhoc hack.
Guessing a build.prop edit is at hand, anyone have any suggestions?
Might have to take a look at what's on other roms ie beast that have it working still.
-CC
EDIT: just to test I flashed vegan 04042011, as others have claimed to not having this issue with that rom. And same issue, shows up in market account, when looking for gps status or dolphin browser hd, they show grey'd out as incompatible..
I thought perhaps something to do with activating AT&T, I used market enabler to switch carrier to Tmobile, same results.
Found something else, my market updates itself to version 2.3.4 or 2.3.6, vegan came with 2.2.11.. Is there a way to stop it from auto-updating?
EDIT2: Flashed Beast 2.1.4 rom and it's market version 2.3.4 and the apps missing or incompatible with the previously listed roms do show..
I had the same issue on Utopia Beta 2 and VEGAn 04042011, but it showed most if not all the apps on Beast 2.1.4.
Rothnic mentioned it may have something to do with permissions, the issue with market not showing location based apps, Dougie187 suggested I copy Beast rom permissions, since it does work and put them on my stock adam.
So that's what I did and it works!
-CC
I've got the same issue, can't find maps, dolphin browser HD or any other gps based app on the market. I've got the stock rom with root+market, can you tell me please how to solve the problem??? I don't know where to find the permissions you're talking about nor how to put them on the adam.
Please I really need help.
Many Thanks
Utopia
Working fine on root+Utopia rom
hi CC, same issue with me. .please elaborate. the process to transfer permissions on my Adam running Eden's 2.4
PLEASE help it's really an important issue!!!

EdenX should not have this issue, as it includes much more than just the standard root+market hack.
I would ask the dev of that rom directly in their thread.

Try this:
Settings — Applications — Manage Applications
Choose All
Choose Market
Force Stop
Back out, choose Google Service Framework
Force Stop
Clear Data
Back out to the homescreen, run the Market (it should fail – that’s what we want)
Reboot
Wait at least one minute after the system boots up, then retry the Market.

Thinking of taking the plunge and upgrading my uk wifi xoom to ics, but have a couple of questions that i am struggling to find conclusive answers to(probably due to my lack of intelligence!!)
I have seen some mentions from varying places that the iplayer app and website no longer work. i can do without the app but websites like iplayer and itvplayer are essential for me. Can anyone who has upgraded let me know if it works?
Will i be able to download uk specific apps from the marketplace? Also, is there a way to get it to fully support UK English language, i.e keyboard and spelling etc?
Lastly can anyone recomend a good guide for switching from uk 3.2 honeycomb to ics? easiest way possible is best for me!!
Thanks in advance for any help.
Right, I've just dropped onto the bbc.co.uk/iplayer site and it says phone not supported, now this might be a simple case of changing the user string thing in the browser but I dont know.
However, I can click on the "request desktop site" option in the browser and it loads the page and I can play the video, probably as I have Adobe Air installed which iirc is what the BBC site uses.
ITV player app is also coming up as not compatible with my device.
But also works under the stock browser when "request desktop site" is selected.
Not sure about the UK specific apps, give me an example and I'll have a look.
English spelling seems to be fine, I use Swiftkey as my keyboard but all the language stuff for UK seems to be there after picking English (UK) during the initial setup.
Thanks for the help.
i use the iplayer app, and things like sky news and sky sports apps.
do iplayer and itvplayer work in other browsers? i use opera quite a lot.
i use the default keyboard, hopefully that will have a uk layout after changing the settings.
Can you post a link to the instructions you used to update? would prefer stock ics if possible. If i do update and i run into problems is it possible to back to honeycomb 3.2?
sorry for all the questions, your hepl is really appreciated.

The ITV Player app is compatible with ICS, you can download the app with a quick Google search. BBC iPlayer app is not though.
IT may just be me, but I have had no success with Flash in Opera.
As for the browser, download ICS Browser + from the Market. It's the stock browser with some enhancements, such as user agent setting, which saves you having to request the desktop site every time you start the Browser. I used to default to Opera, but with ICS Browser + I very rarely use it, only for the occasional download that will not download through either the stock browser or ICS Browser +
I checked the iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Demand 5 to check their compatibility with ICS Browser + and all worked fine. I am currently running the latest Eos Nightly so cannot comment on compatibility with other ICS Roms.
The default keyboard does indeed have a UK layout and dictionary.
To provide a link to a guide, we need a bit more info. Is your Xoom rooted for instance?

Thanks,
My xoom is not rooted, and i would like to stick to stock roms if possible.
^^ that prettymuch sums it up, and yes, you can if your Xoom is setup accordingly do a nandroid backup and then CWM the ICS nightly onto your machine and if it goes tits up revert back to the backup/HC.

You know, I never thought of this when I updated mine to ics using the US flash method
But I can't get either to work on mine now must be with it thinking its a US Xoom now and not letting me play any content
I can get the apps using the browser to access the market but neither will install
I have tried ics browser and that won't play anything either
If I flash back to HC and use one of the roms instead will I get this feature back
Thanks
Dean

Ahh if I use ics browser and choose desktop mode it will play BBC I player so all is not lost.
Will still ago back to UK ics when its released tho
So I can have the official apps
i have flashed the us ics image, all seems good. Only slight annoyance is the iplayer website etc seem a bit buggy, wondering if that is a flash issue maybe?!
Thanks to those who have helped/given me advice.
one thing i am unsure od though is wether i should relock the bootloader now i have finished. any idvice on the pros/cons of doing so?
Iplayer works fine here in the UK on US ICS with Browser+. Needed to install flash from the Market though.
I have a UK WiFi only Xoom, rooted with ICS (from the US Motorola Image)
BBC iPlayer works FINE on the stock browser - you just need to do one thing to get it working, but each time you visit the page after a reboot/cache wipe.
By default, the BBC don't recognise the Xoom (as someone above pointed out, the UAString is not known).
However, click the 3 dots button (top right of screen) and select "Request Desktop Site".
The page will reload, and iPlayer will work (assuming you have also downloaded Flash Player 11)...
Enjoy
(just noticed jester27 had found this too)

Try with stock rom.
It could be modem related. Try chaning the modem.
Hi i've got a issue with downloading apps or games from playstore but ONLY on wifi..
I've got a 125mbps/10mpbs home network. I've tested my wifi on my phone with speedtest app and i'm getting about 70-80mbps/10mbps which is ok
but when i'm downloading apps or games from playstore it's reallllly slow.. like 1-2mpbs.. and this is only happening with Playstore.. Because when i try to download a file with chrome browser it's fast as it should be..
This is happenning only on 2.4ghz wifi for playstore downloads.
When i use 5ghz wifi it's a bit better but not the fast as it should too..
And when i use mobile data (which is not unlimited for me.. 4gb data plan) it's REALLY fast like it should !
I've tried the basic things to do as update playstore using apk from apkmirror .. Tried also clearing cache and even tried other kernel.. I'm back using stock now
Am i the only one with the issue here ?
