I want to uninstall clockwork completely, remove all instances of it and move to twrp. What is the best way I can do this? right now I see that cwr is using roughly 3gb of my storage (8gb) model, so I need to know the correct procedure to removing it. Thanks

download the twrp package and flash it with fastboot.
Alternatively: go to twrp thread, follow directions.

CWM lives in the recovery partition which doesn't show up as part of your storage, how is it using up so much space?

That's nandroid backups, those have nothing to do with CWM other than you made them with it, just delete the folder. CWM itself is exactly 6635520 bytes and isn't on a partition you can look at in a file explorer.
cool. I just installed twrp, deleted the clockwork folder and freed up a bunch of space. I have no idea why clockwork was taking up so much space. I had one backup. That's it. My twrp backup is 500megs.

No Idea, there have been some odd things reported with the new v6 versions of CWM, could be some sort of bug. It sounds almost like it backed everything up 2 or 3x in 1 backup based on my rough math.

Yes your backup should definitely be larger than that. I have several I will open them and see what size they are, I'm guessing 500 mb to 1 GB approximately. Will update soon with the total.

Your backup should be the total size of the stuff in your device - the compression, i'm not sure how heavy the compression CWM uses for Nandroids is, but 20mb is way too small to be the full thing.

Well gentle man. I failed to back up my /efs folder. I lost my imei and can only get an edge connection. This is just a friendly reminder to please back up your /efs folder. I did not know about doing this until it was too late. I'm my s3 was not salvageable. But still works with Wi-Fi.

Ah, seems my advice from above is not applicable to the S3 series. Samsung moved where the IMEI is actually located or something because, from what I have found, it is not located in /efs.
So uh, for the moment aside from literally backing up every single partition on your device I do not know of a working method of backing up your IMEI to prevent corruption.

We need to focus on finding what is causing this so it can be avoided. It seems to be related to flashing a recovery. Please post any details that we can use to find a pattern.

its a known issue with all of the lte sgs 3's. backing up /efs wont help as there is no nv_data.bin which contains the imei number.

I've flashed half a dozen CWM recovery versions so far and haven't "lost my imei" yet, and don't see why it would.
(FWIW, I'm currently using http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.7-d2att.img for ATT and simply dd'd it over partition 18 like all the rest. CWM-flashable versions shouldn't make any difference, though)

DD is much safer as you're just doing a block copy from one device to the other so it's a kernel level copy that is pretty safe as long as you're targeting the right partition. However flashing things could go wrong and it could overwrite a partition or unmount it or something that could lead to these issues

Okay so I have T-Mobile. I rooted using Odin. I installed cwm via Odin. On the 23rd of last month. What caused me to lose imei was that I flashed an updated cwm via Rom manager. The cwm I.flashed was the one that wouldn't let you restore any back ups from your back up restore file. But I flashed the aokp release 3 as well..I did a complete wipe. Then installed from as card. Then had no signal

That wouldn't work since doing factory reset on stock recovery doesn't modify system partition. What he can do however is just grab a gallery app from one of us and placing it on system/app and fixing the permission then reboot.

Can't use OTA update to upgrade from 4.2.1 so flashed using the full image under section C from the ultimate nexus 4 root guide:

Installed superuser, root explorer, recovery is flashed to clockworkmod and is working.
I can access only front end camera only. Back end camera does not even appear to switch in camera app. (only accessible by lockscreen widget, no app in system drawer)
googlegallery.apk and odex has incorrect permissions.
Changed to: rwxr--r-- on both.
Rebooted, this has not resolved the fault.
Any further assistance would be super appreciated.
any ideas guys? I believe this is a software issue and not a hardware fault. As if it was a hardware fault the camera app in the app drawer would still appear.

notice the sdcard and the storage map...
when i open sdcard folder this shows up...
Opening the other map "storage" gives me this....
now i can both open "emulated" and "sdcard0" and both will show the same files......?
SDcard0
Emulated
and after opening "lagacy" folder.....
seems a bit strange to me, i dont know if this is right but if someone could help it would be great.
because i want to flash omegas v11 but want to do a nandroid backup first but havent got enough space left on my int. sd card....
The other question i have is if i can format my internal sd card, and if it will boot after formatting sdcard....
im not talking about ext SD but internal.....
thanks ahead...
Using Philz recovery, select "Mounts and Storage" option then select "format /sdcard".

Thanks,

But will my phone still reboot after this,

Once downloaded it is only 345 bytes. I guarantee this will not work.

That is my mistake on the size. But it still did not work correctly after I moved it. Could it have something to do with I'm on odex?

It should work on odexed stock Roms, make sure permissions are set correctly.

I was trying to download via Tapatalk app. When I use other browsers I get 404 Not Found. Guessing just a bad upload. It happens.

It's in system/priv-app but make sure you back up in case it breaks.

It should be working, have you tried it yourself? others and myself have it working, make sure the file downloaded is not corrupt, proper permissions are set and obviously you are using stock 4.4.1 Odexed Rom.

Well it's not a bad upload, use a different browser or download on your PC and you will find the file intact. I tried to download it myself now and it downloaded fine.
