Most stable and easy androind build? - HD2 General

Hey, I have a HD2.. And i am new to this forum.
I would like to know i have an spl version of 3.03 something. I want to get android on my phone. the last conversion i did was very unstable. sometimes the dialler didnt work. my signals stopped dropping. apps started to crash.
So this time i want to do the most stable android installation. which i can easily revert back also.
So please help me with this. I dont want it to lag or anything. apps shud run fine. no issue with singals and diallers etc.

Do u want it on NAND (internal memory) or on the SD card?

For both i recommend the Tytung kernel and mod its a great and stable one, i use ics 4.0.4 with kernel 3,2 and cm 9 -rhc2. i use Nand but also its possible in SD. view the treaths.

any ICS ROM can play 720p video ? i tryed some ROM but all of them not work

my favorit is this fast and stable for everyday use
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769081

I use LEO King Rom, it runs well and i have no issues with it, and as far as i know, 720p doesnt play on any ICS rom from my experience.

Typhoon or Hyperdroid have been the fastest builds I've ever used. Haven't seen a bug in months too.

+1 for Energy

It is fast, stable, and Sense 3.5 (the latter is essential for me ).

I used NexusHD2 builds for some time and I really like them. Tytung also releases frequent updates to its kernel as well which were always nice improvement :good:

NAND ROM

What is the NAND that you guys thinking that is very fast and stable for daily use, and also working everything?
Instead of running Android as a dual boot off of the sd card as was the case up until 31 December, running Android off NAND (internal memory) overwrites winmo so you can run it as the only os on your phone. It's not perfect but I prefer it to winmo (IMHO ). You can read the rom threads where the devs tell you what works and what doesn't, but apart from 720p video recording pretty much all else works. Try a rom out and if you don't like it, flash back to winmo.

Tastes vary, but you can find the link to the rom I'm using in my signature. I'd wait a few hours though as Sergio is bringing out an update which the test team claims is going to be awesome.

they got better, much better.
and like always there are no "best builds"
i can just recommend u using a nand or even a RAM build
my current one is the Ultimate Droid 3.0 RC, but there is a new version out, i recommend trying that one
or else.. cm7, always a good choice
I´m on typhoons CM7 and it runs like a charm really fast and really good battery life (3-5mA in standby with wifi and gps on). But there are a lot of builds that you can try.
I changed my HTC HD2 to android aswell and its fast and table. So you know that to do. Flash it to android

You have the option of running it off the SD card like the good old days along side winmo. Or you can flash it to the nand memory which is how native android devices run android.
I personally use nand builds and in my experiences they are more stable and battery efficient. Check my sig for the build I use.
Go to the nand android threads and read the stickies to get the lowdown. Since you do need madglr and cwm.

Nope it's fairly straightforward, I did it last night:
1. Install MAGLDR 1.13,
2. Install Clockwork Recovery,
3. Download the rom, renamed to update.zip, stick on SD card
4. Run Clockwork Recovery and install update.zip
5. done
I'm using this one. Seems good so far
i will be securing an htc hd2 tomorrow untouched with windows still on i will definitetly chime in tomorrow as im not that advanced as far as modding phones and am a little nervous. i dont want to brick my phone

gonna flash soon what in you guys experience is the best full featured nand version are the gingerbread versions fully up and running or still missing certain things
Gingerbread is cool with AWD Launcher Plus and some other widgets.
Unfortunately camera quality in my case was poor so I dropped this rom.

[Q] Nand or Sd or??????

Hey guys, I have an htc hd2 that has Coredroid hd2 ver 1.6 on it....I installed this using magldr and daf .....this phone is used, but new to me, and I know nothing about this daf stuff...lol....I want to put Cyanogenmod 7 back on it...I downloaded one version but gave me errors when I tried to use magldr to get it to install...I dont recall the errors....I think some usb thing...afraid to try again...lol
Does using daf.exe in the rom file mean this is a nand configuration on the phone?.....What can I do to get cyanogenmod7 on it?.....Could someone provide me with a direct link to a rom that will work....I thought I had the right ones, but couldnt get it to flash so I chose coredroid...but phone is buggy with that and cm7 rocks.......I would really appreciate it....Sorry...I have googled and oogled all over, but I am gettting deeper in confusion....Thanks so much....Larry
try AmericanAndroid . it is based on cyanogenmod 7 and its an SD build.. really smooth and fast. i am currently using it.. i have dual boot with WP7 Nand and americanandroid on SD card with MAGLDR

i didnt like a few things about American Android where the DPI of the text was quite small which resulted in a few ugly looking interfaces such as
applications
unlock screen
menu settings etc
notifications bar
dont get me wrong, i used a build from early April 2011
i hope those are resolved by now or could be fixed, which I admit I didnt explore

I would agree as well. AmericanAndroid was my first foray into Android on my HD2 (getting my TP2 to work w/ Android at all was a huge struggle). In any event, it's a build I can use for my day-to-day work. I have everything I need working, 3G, wireless, GPS, texts, phone, gmail, Exchange email, maps, Facebook , twitter, etc...to tell you the truth I haven't gone back to WinMo since. I still like WinMo and NRG's ROM's with all the great customizations that Poyensa, Nordpolcamper,MrBeOTP2, lnando84, etc do. But I saw that I was making my phone more and more like Android, so why not just use Android? Good luck!
I have wp7 on nand and half of my sd, then dual boot sd Android build with the other half, my current build I am trying is BOYPPC honeycomb ginger thingy, developers are getting back into sd builds now the rush to nand has subsided a little, my thoughts are if you have a device capable of running two operating builds via dual boot, why not user it, NAND is just turning your hd2 into a almost hd desire but not quite, WP7 only turns your hd2 into an hd7 almost but not quite, in my many many tests and trials with my hd2 over the last year NAND and SD builds have very little differences now, in fact I find my latest sd build has a minimal unlock lag as apposed to the slightly more lag with the nands.
So really unless your an Android only or wp7 only fan or possibly a windows mobile only fan use the DUAL Force Luke...
WP7 DB Android SD then
Windows mobile 6.5.5 DB android sd next NAND android then WP7
WOULDN'T it be great if we could quad boot

You can change the LCD density to 240 easily using AmeriCanAndroid.
I remember that I did change it to 240, but still somethings was looking funny and odd , but not everything
maybe I should give this a GO again
AmeriCanAndroid SD build is stable enough. Try it.. there's FAQ which will guide you through the set up.

they've actually changed the default dpi again (to 167), but once again its adjustable.
I think it is currently the only stable (near stock) Gingerbread SD rom available?

For the AmeriCanAndroid builds are very stable and smooth which I have been using since 032611! It hasn't give me much trouble except some programs will only display very small on the screen and I am sure there are ways to fix it but I just don't know how!!!

[Q] HD2 with gingerbread and sense 3 from SD with partitions

Hello all.
I am using DL_DesireZ v3.x at the moment, whis is Froyo with Sense 2.0.
According to the instructions I've partitioned my SD card to 3 partitions, one 6.5GB FAT32, one 1GB ext4 and another 512M ext4.
So far, this has been the stablest and fastest non-nand ROM for me (I can't get rid of WM because I need to use iGO and Garmin from it) but I'd like to get some of the updates and functionalities that came with Gingerbread, and since I do like Sense, I want it as well.
So, can somebody tell me is there any GB+Sense3 build for HD2 that is SD based and which can use ext3/4 partitions for data2sd or whatever it is called exactly?
Thanks.

Weeel, that was a revelation of sorts...
Anyhow, after checking all of those builds, two things are clear:
- most of them are not for SD
- Sense 3 builds are far from stable & working
What do I mean?
It seems than NAND frenzy has taken strongly among HD2 owners for whatever reason they want to get rid of WM6.5, so most of the builds are stated as NAND.
There are some that are marked as ROM-ZIP...what are those?
On the other hand, I know that there are roms that are to be used with MAGLDR and some (if not all) can be used as a normal SD build, with haret, data.img and so on.
One example is the one I'm using right now, DL Desire, which comes as a NAND version and as a SD/MAGLDR version.
So how can I tell if a certain MAGLDR rom is usable as a SD build as well? Is it possible at all, as a general rule, if an author of a build does not explicitelly state so?
The second thing is more problematic, and is obviously kernel and hardware related.
Sense3 builds have graphic/camera problems (mutually) and also problems with some widgets (weather), boot menu, lock screen etc.
I've tried MccMBoxmaX GS V5.0 and was really surprised to see it work pretty good and fast (albeit with no apps installed) disregarding mentioned problems with graphics etc.
Since there is no build yet that has all the things fixed, I believe I should try an older ones with the latest Sense version before Sense3.
But which one is it? 2.1? And do they come in combination with Gingerbread as a base and what builds have that combination, also for SD and possibly using ext2/3/4 partitions?
I hope I'm not boring, but I've tried a bunch of different roms for SD with and without partitions support and now they are getting more and more rare and the whole "list of builds" has become so long and confusing that I just don't know which ones support what and which ones are for what...
Hi,
What you will have noticed,is that sd is not that well supported.
If you need to keep WM,then you are going to struggle to find very much.
Have you tried the American droid for sd?
A lot of people rave about it...
Try This rom
but it need ext on sd
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038694
It's fast and stable till now for me
have you looked in the sd development section?

Oh yes, I forgot, I'm talking about MccM BoxMax V6 that Dr.Hisham mentioned...
Working pretty well, although some problems have been discovered like BT not working, graphics glitches etc...although, it is pretty snappy even though it is Sense3 (2.1 actually).
But, it seems it will take some time to fix everything and so I'm opting for the following: SD build with ext partitions for data2sd, with Gingerbread and last version of Sense before 2.1 (2.0.x?) - anybody knows anything about those?
Guys, anybody with anything?
SDcard Gingerbread builds with pre-2.1/3 Sense for HD2?

[Q] Some ROM Suggestions, please.

Hi,
I had flashed a near stock NAND ROM but was constrained on space. Then tried out an SD ROM, still works well, but found it too slow for comfort
Could anyone please suggest a stable, working, daily use (with everything working) NAND ROM with:
1. HTC Sense
2. A2SD
3. Daemon Controller (preferable).
4. Working camcorder and camera without lags.
Believe me, spent a lot of time searching.
I don't care too much about the themes, the stock HTC are good enough for me.
Thanks,
jiggyk
P.S.: If someone could suggest a stable and fast SD ROM having the above (without #2, of course), that too would do and I would be thankful.

All GB Sense ROMs have camcorder bugs, unfortunately, so I don't think there are any ROMs which don't have this. Unless, of course, Froyo Sense is good enough for you. I've found Froyo Sense to be fast, smooth and stable. I would also recommend trying a CM7 ROM (e.g. Typhoon/Hyperdroid) as these are very fast, and can be themed to look like Sense.

Thank You for your prompt reply.
My preference for HTC sense is primarily because it nicely links my facebook, whatsapp, etc. contacts and shows mobile numbers and email addresses of facebook friends far and near who I did not have in my contacts list hitherto.
However, these ROMS you have suggested, do they have A2SD built in? I am also assuming that the camcorder bugs are in the ROMs with sense. Is that correct??

For stable version you can try Nexus One Rom by Tytung. The base is ligther and the rom is smooth but other rom also has its advantage.

as far as im aware, but im using v4.0,not all apps can go to sd though, its the only prob i can't work out.......e.g: when using pyramid rom with a2sd,i downloaded facebook for android, went to settings and moved it to sd card, now the rom im using has a2sd also cos i go to sd-ext folder and all my downloaded apps are there, but facebook is not possible to move via settings, but if no joy i came across a free app in the market called Link2SD AND ALL THE APPS I CAN'T MOVE VIA APPLICATION/SETTINGS I CAN MOVE USING LINK2SD.........so i'm 1 happy guy lol
also,if u wait till tomorrow,he says 4.1 is being released with glitches fix and less bugs, but have a play with this version,if u like it,download v4.1 when released(fri)
if you want sense with everything working and i mean a camcorder at 800x480 rather than 320 then you will be looking at a froyo based rom not a gingerbread rom
personally i have moved from a sense rom to a miui rom and changed to go launcher ex and am more than happy with it, its alot faster than sense
Team Blue Droid have produced an excellent sense 3.5 Rom which looks the business and works far better than many others I have flashed recently on mh EU HD2. I am not that technically minded regarding SD card partition types, but I run mine via SD card after flasing a 1024 partition using CMR and the accompanying DAF.exe.
From reading many threads I understand camcorder is less than perfect on most roms at highest res.

there will be no more versions released after 2.2,i had every version lol and 1 of the developers told me that they wouldn't be making any more but if they did,it would just be for themselves and not for the public

Thanks for your inputs, everyone!
I had the same problem of all apps not going through to the SD, and the remaining memory would not go over 25-30MB at any time, with a near stock Froyo ROM. (Yes, it is a very fast and stable sense ROM). I think I'll take your advice and wait for 4.1 and then see how it goes, will download it over the weekend. Also this Link2SD thing looks interesting!!
The Team Blue ROM looks very impressive indeed, what with the Daemon Controller and all, but, going through the forum, many have had glitches with the wifi, network, etc. I thought I'd wait for this ROM to settle, but now that you say that they aren't making any more.......
