When I trying to exporta file from Dropbox on my Sd card, the operation failed.
I have no rooted. Only official firmware 4.0.4 (ATO) updated from Odin.
There is any solution. Becase on Sd card I have 16 Gb and If the problem is this, the memory on sd card is almost useless

File or app, if it is an app does it require the tab to be rooted? Not sure if this helps, just throwing an idea out there.

Hi all...
I am a noob - please don't hate!!
I have recently bought a Samung Galaxy S I9000 and I immediately flashed MIUI onto it. Ever since I have been using MIUI, I have had serious problems with my SD card (8gb) which came with the phone. I currently have about 2 gigs of music on it and playing the music is absolutely fine however it seems that after 15 - 20 min of not playing music, the external sd card becomes either corrupt or incorrectly read. When I try and play a song, it comes up with "file type not supported". Looking in the "external_sd" directory on the internal sd card, I find 20-30 files with file names full of funny symbols and letters. The files are also extremely massive and way exceed the card's total capacity (viewing the details on the "external_sd" tells me there is a total of 20gb used - on an 8gb card???).
I can rectify the problem by simply rebooting the phone but it is highly annoying!
I would like to know what I could do to fix this problem? Ideally it would be great to have the external SD card as a seperate volume on the phone and not a directory on the internal SD card.
Any ideas?

Your card sounds like it's faulty, but formatting it will temporary fix your issues.

I also have an external SD card problem !
Up until a few weeks ago, there were no issues. I have some *.avi files stored on the external SD card and these were indexed by Android and visible in the Video player app.
For some unknown reason, the files on the external SD suddenly were not visible in the Video app (yet they are still visible, and playable, via ES explorer).
Now, when I go to Android settings, I no longer have menus for "internal SD card" and "external SD card". Instead I have "SD card" menu, and "USB storage" menu...
Can anyone help me get things back to the way they were???!

Hi,
You are being displayed the 'sd card' and 'USB storage' options because you might have updated your firmware. I am currently on JVQ firmware 2.3.4 and get the same options. 'sd card' stands for the external sd card while 'USB storage' stands for internal sd card. If you tell me the history of your updation or flashing, i might be able to help you better.
@ OP: get a new SD card, that's it

thanks. I updated to JVQ but then went back to JVH (darky's rom) via an Odin flash. You could be correct, the JVQ firmware could have caused this issue. But it still remains even after reverting to JVH...?
What about completely reformatting the SD card via, e.g. Windows?
Thanks for the suggestions. My dad also bought the same phone and he has exactly the same problem so it doesn't seem to be card specific. I don't like this sd card situation (I was previously on Nokia).
Perhaps it's a MIUI specific issue?
To quote Adidas: "Impossible is nothing."
Same problem here. I am on stock 2.3.3 italian firmware, rooted through cfroot 3.7 then flashed semaphore and now galaxian. Issue is definitely not kernel dependant. My external sd is a class 4 card 8 gb from sandisk. Anyone could suggest a card that's working flawlessly on our sgs?

UPDATE: I installed another Sandisk Ultra 8gb that I used to keep in my TomTom. Apart from discovering that the latest is class 6 (weird, the had exactly the same blister pack...), this seems to work perfectly. Oh my.

Just thought I'd mention this for reference sake - I also tried an old 8Gb class 6 sd card and have no issues for a week! My initial card (that came with the phone) was class 2. Happy now
Look like SGS is picky when it comes to SD cards... And i paid the same money for the two cards, they had identical packages!
Hey at all,
i installed CM7RC at the weekend on my SGS.
So, after some hours of checking and configuring the OS and i´m enthused.
But i have found one problem.
When i insert my external SD card the system don´t response of it.
In "settings -> memory (its my translation - i don´t now the used english words) i can find the internal memory, sd card and additional or external sd card.
the internal has 1.87GB, the sd 5,78GB.
When i have insert the external sd card the systems write not available and plz insert sd card .... .
Do anyone know this problem? I tried a 16GB and 8GB sd card. both are full functionally under the original OS.
at experts: can anyone tell me the device which will be mount?
so i thought about a manually mount to test or to use until a fix is available.
thx.

If you flashed CM7 from gingerbread then your external sd wont work... that is a known problem.
If you flashed from froyo then your external sd card will be in mnt/emmc

I guess you have gingerbread bootloaders on you phone. Revert to stock froyo rom,and then install CM7 nightly from there,im sure it will solve the problem.
I found the Prob. It was the bootloader. After flashing the froyo bootloader i Gott full access
to my edternal sd card.

I am on MDK bootloader unlocked and one day I tried aosp and kitkat 4.4.2, it was running fine and I still could move app to sd card as usual but later I found out my sd card became useless, I still can use the card to store any thing but I cannot delete file that I stored from sd card and card cannot be formatted either. Does kitkat 4.4.2 broke the sd card? It seems that I can delete everything from card successfully but when I check card again, all files I deleted are still on the card. Does anyone have any idea?

Do you mean you back to touchwiz from aosp by restoring backup or by fresh install?

Google broke the SD card unless your rooted. The system can access the SD Card, but users can't write to it. If you have root you can edit the platform.xml and add R/W to media to fix the issue.
Samsung/ATT/T-Mobile could have fixed it but didn't. It's considered a security risk by Google, there are people that are for releasing the code as is and people that believe that Samsung should have addressed it.
Hello
I own Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 and it is rooted. I recently purchased a class 10 Sandisk Micro SD card with 64 GB capacity. I was very happy that I did but my happiness did not last long when I have come to know that 3rd party apps do not have write permission in Kitkat. After some research I was successful to make the SD card writable to 3rd party apps by modifying the permissions.xml file.
Everything seems to be fine at this time but it was not actually. The SD card when seen under storage in settings would show me that it is mounted with 62.5 GB capacity and 60 GB free. But when I try to browse the files in SD card, there are nothing. Apps saved in SD card do not open and I am also unable to capture images from camera to SD card storage.
I thought may be unmounting the SD card and mounting it back would work and it worked but after a while the same problem. My device shows that it has mounted an SD card but cannot access anything saved in it. So, I have to unmount and mount SD card every time and this is very much annoying.
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you for your time.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes. It is Ex FAT format. Which format should I format it to? Ex FAT or just the FAT format.
It is not about applications. The card just gets undetected after some time and nothing can be accessed including music and images. I have to unmount it and mount again for the device to detect the SD card.
Format your SD Card on your phone its self. Go to settings, storage and than SD Card and format it.

Thanks mate.. Followed your instructions... Working fine as of now.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which I recently upgraded to the official Lollipop 5.0.1 update. I also added a new Samsung 64 GB (Class 10) Micro SD Card. When I use the Micro SD Card in a card reader in Windows 8, I can easily add / delete files without any problems. When I use the Micro SD Card in the Samsung Galaxy S4, it works fine for a while, then suddenly files and folder automatically disappear or files become corrupt; photos clicked with the camera disappear instantly. I am not sure if the problem lies with the Micro SD Card, the phone, the OS or some app.
Please could someone help!
I would suggest to format the card in your phone (if not already done). And then try it again.

I found that you cannot even use the sd card as storage for apps with the 5.0.1 rom this is a issue for me as far as the sd card corrupting files im not sure i am using a 16 gig and i had to set everything manually to save to sd card or move it over myself such as the camera and downloads, but for apps not a chance
