what's best for orange israel ? running CM9
Do you find those better than the latest stock one / the one's included in CM9?
I'm on Hot Mobile (which usually roams to Pelephone), I do suffer from some disconnects (not often), which I used to believe are due to Hot Mobile issues...
For Orange I think LP9 is the best, for all the rest - LQ6, I'm using it and I'm in Pelephone, it's grea

Links to Mediafire work fine for me (Tho for some reason I always have to hit 'try again' to get files from there, downloading from there never works first go). Thread bookmarked for future reference. Good job Great to see new people getting involved & doing something like this. Don't worry about people who have told you this info has been put together before; yes, it has. However, some of the modem threads can be hard to find.
One thing tho, make sure you update this thread whenever new modems for the T are released with new firmwares & keep the thread somewhat current. Otherwise it will get buried/'lost' & end up hard to find like some of the other threads.

I've never perfomed an update via Odin yet, so here are some questions:
I downloaded I5800XXJPM.rar
I extracted it using TUGZip so now I've got a file called "JPM.tar". Is this the right file for the update? This is a "One Package", isn't it?
With the same programme I can open this file, which shows me several others (like "cache.rfs", "datafs.rfs", etc.)
So "One Package", "Auto Reboot" and "Protect OPS" have to be enabled, right?
Do I have to do anything else or can I start off with this right away?
I've never done this before
Thanks!
just make sure you are on an eclair version and proceed...
select one package
protect ops
auto reboot
and in one package you have to select the jpm.tar file
Yes, I still have Eclair on my phone.
When I open "JPM.tar" I can see a list of several files ("cache.rfs", "datafs.rfs", "2factoryfs.rfs", "logo.png", "modem.bin" and "zImage").
Do I have to delete boot.bin or sbl.bin, or is this not necessary?
Cos' I can't find any of these!
So "JPM.tar" is a one package... in that case it's easier anyway.

You dont have to extract the JPM.tar file...just flash it as one package..and you dont have to delete the boot.bin coz its already deleted
Ok, I did it!
I did the update via Odin and it was sooo simple!!! After 6 minutes everything was done... however, I DID extracted the file but everything went just fine!
Tomorrow I'm going to test the GPS.
Thank you!
Yeh, first you're scared to brick your phone but once you start, you want to try all roms like I did

Yes, it's exactly like that I was also scared for the first time, but when I was done I was like "Hey, give me some more ROMs!!!"

Custom ROM's (like Kyrillos / Lestat's / Apollo's / etc) give more flexibility / features than stock ROM's.
Also, Samsung does not release firmware updates regularly (almost 8 months & still has not rolled out Official Froyo ROM).
So its worth trying custom ROM's but at one's own risk !!!
I want to tell you about my new Rom which offers blazing fast performance, SIP over wifi and 3g and staggering battery duration.
I have tried them all lately. Cyanogenmod 7, Insanity 014 (cm7) Miui 1.6.3 and the international Miui (both also CM7). Plus all the variations on stock JVH/JVP Roms on XDA.
I then tried Romkitchen.org and using it, cooked my own rom with Touchwiz 4, and all the useful tools available with that kitchen. I then flashed a theme by JKay - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037157
JKay had kindly updated the themes resources for JVP themes to enable SIP over wifi and 3g.... don't forget to choose a JVP theme if you use JVP in Romkitchen
Instructions:
You must be on some form of Gingerbread Rom with bootloaders. You must be able to get into download mode. There are loads of resources about this on the dev area but this is my basic procedure:
I used Ficeto's Rom to start, which you can get here under clean install. I flashed it with Hiemdall which does not brick phones like Odin does (I have bricked two requiring the resistor modified connector to get them back). For Hiemdall you must totally unpack the archive (use winrar for that). You can then put each part in the appropriate Heimdall slot. Its easy. Don't forget to use the .pit file and select repartition
Assuming you don't stay with Ficeto, go to Romkitchen.org and start cooking!
Select Galaxy and go to generator. Under Base Rom choose JVP, and wipe or no wipe (that's up to you). Its handy to have a nowipe around for repair purposes.
Under Kernel choose the Chainfire kernel (haven't tried the Talon one yet). For those who like Kernel flashing they all work but you are back to Hiemdall to get rid of Tegrak. There is a convenient kernel flashing tool in the apps. Remember , backup first!
IMPORTANT. Under Modem choose BUJP5 if you are Vodafone. Apparently the JL2 modem is required for Telecom but you should research this.
Under apps choose as many as you want. Pull in all the utilities for now. Under themes choose JVP stock
Generate!
Download the following:
A new gps.conf http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-gps-quickest-fix-solution.2022/ (if you want good gps)
A VNZ csc file http://www.bitstream.co.nz/samsung/vnz.rar
If you are using Touchwiz 4, try upgrading to the better modded one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13435895&postcount=1
Im sorry the VNZ.rar is not an installable zipfile. Unpack it and copy the VNZ folder to the phone.
Put the resultant zips on the phone and then reboot to clockwork mod by pressing up-home-on in the usual manner. Select install zip from sd card and navigate to the zip and install away. Install the generated file first and reboot. Don't bother to set the phone up.
Install Super Manager from market. Enable root on it and them copy the VNZ folder to /system/csc.
Use Nitrality tools set set the csc to VNZ. The phone will reboot and after that you can set it up.
Once all is good use Quickboot to go to recover and make a backup. Then you can apply the new JKay theme (or any other JVP theme) zipfile. Occasionally this seems to break some apps and you will have to restore the backup.
Once all is good then do the following if you want great battery duration:
Install the CFroot addon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=591080&d=1304947623) and use it to select conservative cpu governing. You might also select to change to ext4 lagfix if you want. With that I get Quadrant 2500 after a couple of runs before changing the cpu governing
Install Juice Defender. It's great on stock roms (but not so good on CM7). One caveat is that when you use sip (available under settings/call settings/Internet call settings if you flash a JKay or similar theme) you won't be able to receive calls when the screen is blacked as data is them turned off to save energy unless downloads are in progress.
Sit back and marvel how your phone does not drain the battery when you are not using it!! I get at least a day and a half now even when I use it a lot. I even went to bed with it nearly flat and when I got up it was still nearly flat, maybe 1% down.
If you want far better gps in New Zealand, use Super manager to copy gps.conf to /system/etc/ replacing the old gps.conf. Reboot.
I will post my rom if you want.
Hi tazzydemon
I followed your guide here, and wow the phone operates so well after. However, I just have one issue that since running through this, I no longer obtain 3G reception. And, going into the network settings, the option to switch between 2G and 3G is not there.
Have I done something wrong?
I have a suspicion that it's because I didn't follow through with your instructions regarding the VNZ csc code, because the link you provided to the vnz.rar file presents a 404 error.
Do you have any suggestions?
Cheers for your help.
Voda CSC
Hi Tazzy,
Appreciate if you could rehost the Voda CSC file somewhere and let us know of the link. Been looking for it for a while now!
Cheers mate.

I don't think it actually makes too much difference operationally..but a quick examination of the csc shows that it sets the emergency dialling numbers which I guess is quite significant.
I have enabled directory browsing now so please go to http://www.bitstream.co.nz/samsung/ and pick what you want. I am sorry the VNZ is not packaged as clockwork installable (I am making one right now)
I have changed to JKay 4_1 which you can find here and download here for JVP.
You might also consider the apk listed for V4 as it gives you different lockscreens and different power menus
However in settings/Mobile Networks I have VFNZ Internet as selected access point name and under network mode I have all three choices as expected
Use Super Manager to dump the vnz directory in to the same place as the others and use Nitrality to change the csc
I have now made my first clockworkmod installable zipfile for the VNZ csc file.
Please find it here VNZ-CSC-SIGNED.zip and install it via clockworkmod as usual.
I have to say I am blown away by how long the battery is lasting with conservative governance checked and with Juice defender. My only gripe is that that setting prevents me using SIP to answer calls.

You are on Vodafone I take it (not Telecom) you will need a different modem for Telecom
By the way if you want accurate battery life then charge you battery to the max. Reboot to recovery and wipe battery stats.
All the flashing and rebuilds without full battery will alter the calibration.
Hi tazzydemon
thanks for your reply. I managed to change the csc to XEU and all is working well now.
I have switched to the Voodoo kernel from the romkitchen selection, because I couldnt find the option to disable the lagfix in the Chainfire kernel. (we need to disable and enable the lagfix for internal development).
I'm using the Jkay AllGreen theme, I think it looks nice and smooth. Also, the CRT lock screen animation is quite novel.
I've downloaded the VNZ CSC file and will give it a try, thanks for all of your help.
Hi Tazzydemon
Are you having problems with Bluetooth after applying the Rom Kitchen rom? I have tried n three Samsung Galaxy S devices and the Bluetooth just doesn't turn on, it just times out and never comes alive.
Cheers
TESTERS NEEDED
so i just finish porting/adding arabic, urdu and farsi language/locale to this rom. basic things like making calls, messaging, wifi, usb connection works but i need to know if theres any bug exist. so i need anyone who mainly use those three language to do further test, feel free to pm me and ill give the link to this new arabic ported build. no dont be scared, this will not bricked ur phone, it installed and boot just fine. im actually using this rite now. i just need to know if theres any other bugs because i dont understand those added language, such as translation error, menu out of order when using ported language or anything at all.
changelog v1.5:
1- added arabic, urdu and farsi locale/language.
2- added fonts to support those three language.
3- removed lg keyboard, added swype which support arabic, urdu and farsi locale/language.
4- rtl fixed, character shaping works on default browser (see screenshot).
5- removed touchwiz launcher and replace it with zeam launcher.
6- removed default mms.apk, replaced it with mms.apk taken from htc desire.
7- updated gmail to v2.3.5 without signature permissions.
8- added facebook 2.0 apk.
9- filesystem is still ext4 but this time unjournalled ext4.
10- because im completely decompile/compile all apks one by one to add those three language, basicly all those apks were compressed abit more so this time theres more internal storage free compared to earlier v1. on fresh install, after installing 3-4 apps from market i still had 18mb free in /system/apps now.
11- remove qualcom bootanimation, uses default samsung's now.
12- cwm 4.0.0.9 smaller image file by 1-2mb, taken from ketut's cfroot b-82.
13- true onepackage install. no need to update kernel via cwm after odin install like previous build, cfroot b-80 already integrated in odin one package install.
sceenshots v1.5:
end of updated post. below is from previous v1. i'll edit it when this v1.5 is ready for public.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
what u'll get with this:
1- based on ZCKPA china fw but on first boot uses english.
2- unique feature that only for ZCKPA which is triple network mode selection (dualmode, 2g only, 3g only) and advance call managing (reject call with message, auto reject, auto reject list, phone number locator, ip call, etc etc...)
3- deodex and pre rooted.
4- full ext4 filesystem.
5- cfroot B-80 kernel.
6- cwm 4.0.0.9.
7- lg keyboard.
8- hostfile modified to block ads.
9- gapps preinstalled.
10- darktremore a2sd should work by default.
11- added a2sdgui.
12- super smooth phone with help of fugutweaks patch v0.1.
13- huge apn list combined from XWKPN, DXKP9 and ZCKPA itself.
14- near to stock ZCKPA rom. just remove some chinese app to free some space.
14- maybe more.. too lazy to remember rite now.
step to install:
1- create backup with cwm and transfer that backup to a safe place eg ur pc. if something happen and u did'nt create cwm backup, i'll just sit quietly and laugh at u.
2- download S5830ZCKPA.NoName.v1.7z and extract it in ur pc.
3- download MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, install it and use it to format ur sdcard as two primary partition, 1st partition as fat32 and the 2nd as ext4. take note that u should use a usb card reader to plug ur sdcard to ur pc when do partitoning job, its dangerous to partition ur sdcard directly while its still on ur phone and not adviseable to do so.
4- put CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b80_boot.zip on root of ur sdcard.
5- reboot ur phone into cwm and do "wipe cache partition".
6- turn off ur phone, take out ur simcard and put ur freshly partitioned sdcard inside it.
7- boot ur phone into download mode and connect it to ur pc (please double check that sdcard IS in the device but simcard IS NOT in it).
8- run odin 4.42 and tick at one package.
9- for ops use Cooper_NoName.ops that u got from my extracted archive earlier. dont use other ops file, strictly just use what i gave u.
10- at one package option, navigate to S5830ZCKPA.NoName.v1.tar and choose it.
11- cross ur finger and flash ur device. ur device should automatically reboot if everything goes to plan.
12- first boot can take a little bit of time. when it finally boot, restart ur device into cwm and flash CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b80_boot.zip(see step 4).
13- enjoy ur phone

Pretty hard to install I say! Can u make it more easy? Like just Open ODIN & flash via 1 package?
wow great, will try this one, thanks for your effort.
I think partitioning is not necessary for those who have already partitioned their card.
We can just flash this via odin as one file and if successfully booted flash cf-root then reboot and flash gapps for the market and other google apps.

reason:
1- its gingerbread 2.3.4.
2- its has louder volume.
3- lockscreen lag is minimal, almost like xwkpn.
4- its the smoothest rom i've ever use.
4- just to be different from other rom which mostly use xwkpn as base
btw fitrst post updated with download link. feel free if anyone wanna make mirror

Hmm i getting problem login into google acc. Seems like som kind of permission problem when installing gapps from zip flashable file. Think i should create another build. Next todo list:
1- remove some chinese app from system. Those app really takes huge space while i hardly believe anyone use it because its in chinese language.
2- maybe wait for next cfroot release that should bring smartass cpu governor. Btw im using kpn wifi module to make cfroot works with this rom. Dirty hacks here and there. So in theory, if the next cfroot still support kpn rom, it should also works with this rom.
3- gapss installed by default.
4- maybe rtl fix.
5- tun.ko, cifs.ko and other module preinstalled.
6- port seilent´s frozen winter theme. God how i love that theme

so here it goes, my 1st custom rom i've created out of curiosity. at first i just create this just for fun and learning, would'nt even expect it would boot, but hey, it boot and running just fine
i called this beta because i think there should be many more that can be done with it, but i'm too lazy to create another build. this one alone took me a whole night to create
what u'll get with this:
1- based on ZCKPA china fw but on first boot uses english.
2- deodex and pre rooted.
3- full ext4 filesystem.
4- cfroot B80 kernel.
5- cwm 4.0.0.9.
6- lg keyboard.
7- hostfile modified to block ads.
8- super smooth phone with help of fugutweaks patch v0.1.
9- huge apn list combined from XWKPN, DXKP9 and ZCKPA itself.
10- near to stock ZCKPA rom. nothing were remove, just those stated above. means u'll get all those app that some of u consider bloatware, but maybe some find useful. so i just leave it be. if u feel its bloated, remove/freeze/uninstall those app via titanium backup or similar tool.
11- maybe more.. too lazy to remember rite now.
step to install:
1- create backup with cwm and transfer that backup to a safe place eg ur pc. if something happen and u did'nt create cwm backup, i'll just sit quietly and laugh at u.
2- download S5830ZCKPA.NoName.7z and extract it in ur pc.
4- download CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b80_boot.zip and place it on root of ur sdcard.
5- download gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip and place it on root of ur sdcard.
6- reboot ur phone into cwm and do "wipe cache partition".
7- turn off ur phone, take out ur simcard and put ur freshly partitioned sdcard inside it.
8- boot ur phone into download mode and connect it to ur pc (please double check that sdcard IS in the device but simcard IS NOT in it).
6- run odin 4.42 and tick at one package.
7- for ops use Cooper_NoName.ops that u got from my extracted archive earlier. dont use other ops file, strictly just use what i gave u.
8- at one package option, navigate to S5830ZCKPA.NoName.tar and choose it.
9- cross ur finger and flash ur device. ur device should automatically reboot if everything goes to plan.
10- first boot can take a little bit of time. when it finally boot, restart ur device into cwm and flash CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b80_boot.zip(see step 4).
11- reboot ur phone. if it successfully boot, reboot once again into cwm and mount system partition, then flash gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip(see step 5) and reboot again for the last time.
12- enjoy ur phone

@Formula84 Its better for not. We check download stats how lower the downloads no new files comming.
Attached is ODIN 1.85 and instructions thanks to crawrj for the files.
Code:
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have installed the proper XP or Win7 drivers before starting. Also, remove the SD card from the phone (this may not be necessary, but having the SD card installed has caused Odin to fail for a number of people, so might as well just do it).
1. Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder
2. Open odin
3. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold 1 on the keyboard while powering up)
4. connect phone (you should see odin put a Com4 or something like that in the first box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning ODIN can see it)
5. The only box that should be checked is Auto Reboot.
6. You do not need to choose a pit file.
7. In the PDA Section choose the tar file. (Should be the sph-d700-****-8Gb-REL.tar)
8. Hit start. It will do its thing.
9. If it fails than try a new cable.
10. If the phone hangs for any reason take the battery and sdcard out and let it sit for an hour. Put it back together and try again.

Flashing now. Ill report back in a little while. You might want to add to the op that the tar needs to be extracted twice. once to get it out of the folder and once again when you have it on the desktop. If you notice once its extracted the first time it has a .7z extension on the end of it.
You MUST odin this in the PDA slot. It kept hanging at FactoryFS when using Phone slot.

By having mirror we will not be giving them a true number of following users of their release.
Hotfile is fast and the wait is 15 sec.
Maybe if you are going to this you can keep track of the downloads for the next couple days and give them feedback via twitter.

I don't think the bandwidth is limited, only the amount of storage you can use. I've only added about 200 MB of storage so far, and I've had numerous downloads. Still says I have 4.8 GBs left.
As for bugs. INstalled GPS Status right off the bat and was only getting 2-3 sats locked. Did the cleared the modem memory http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226074 when I flashed CWM in Odin and now I'm getting 5 sats.
Nevermind. Busybox did install and showed up after I rebooted.
After flashing Su it looks like I have root. I can't install Busybox even though the installer says I'm rooted.I can delete system apps with Root Explorer and Titaniaum Backup.

New update is up!
Version is : V100R001C00B528G001
http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDEyNTU=
Upgrade How-to
It has all languages android have!
This upgrade need to accomplish 1 upgrade package’s upgrade in the one step below, the file name can’t be revised:
Step1: include UPDATE.APP
- Prepare a formatted Micro SD card which at least has 512MB available space. Make sure your handset is powered off and then insert the MICRO SD card into the handset.
- Make a “dload” directory on SD card root directory
- Copy the “Step 1\ dload\UPDATE.APP” to SD card.
- Long press volume up + volume down + power button on the handset to startup you device until device into upgrade model, the handset will upgrade and shutdown automatically.
- After upgrade success , Restart the handset.
- It will reboot few times.
- Check the Build number is 100R001C00B528G001 . You can see it in “Settings”->”About Phone”..
Possible bugs!
- When the wifi open and screen is off phone reboots.
- Some phone gets imei=0 (please backup your imei)
- Not sure but I have network issues. Sometimes my phone gets "unreachable" state even I have 4 bars.
- There is a widget problem, "The widget loading problem" after each reboot.
- On calls your sound is very husky. You can try to solve changing build.prop "ro.config.dualmic=true" to "ro.config.dualmic=false"
- Some users reported screen lag, freezes and and glicthes.
- Sound (your sound from calls) not very good.
- Widgets get "The problem loading widget" on every reboot.
- Haptic feedback not work on capatitive keys.
Warnings!
- There is no safe way for downgrading.
Downgrading!
I go back to cm7 like this;
- Copy B138 dload to internal memory - This is important.
Power off your phone go to pink screen. Notice: you can't go the pink scren without sd-card. So, after copying dload directory insert sd card.
- Go to pink screen
- In pink screen, I replace all the files from my 2.2 backup. (If you don't do that, downgrade not work. Its failed step 2/2)
- Remove sdcard from phone and start the B138 update like always.
- After installing phone should open normally.
- Once your phone open normally, you can install cwm and flash any rom you want it.
I noticed cwm data backups not works, I don't know why its not worked. Maybe some experience person can explain that to us.
- Please notice, Even if this version worked on my phone, that doesn't mean it will work for you. You can try, I'm not responsoble of anything

my last ever Huawei, their after sales support sucks for every phone, why can Korea make better products than China? Better support, better phones, higher quality, China keep trying and keep failing in the support part of most products for some reason, I can't figure out if its a culture thing or a government thing that makes them not care about their customers
