I searched the Nexus 7 General and Nexus 7 Q&A and I don't see these questions covered.
I just d/l'ed GTA III on my Nexus 7. It runs nice, but when in landscape, the button placement makes it impossible to use. As in, the game's buttons don't appear on the screen like they do in portrait. The picture is perfect, not cut off or anything. If it helps, I am rooted, and my DPI is stock.
I tried remapping the controls in the game's settings menu, but it would not let me drag any of the buttons from their standard placement.
Anyone have suggestions?
I just grabbed one of those Micro USB OTG Cables and am going to plug a ps3 controller right into the N7.
It worked well on my A500 but the n7 doesn't have a full size USB port obviously.

+1 to this ^^
I use a wired xbox controller through a port and it works fine, also bluetooth ps3 controllers work well. (sixaxis app)
I think there is a GTA 3 setting to move button placement, try that out.

What resolution can the Nexus 10 output through the micro HDMI port? How about the mysterious pogo pin connector?
I have a 2560x1600 monitor at work and a 2560x1440 monitor at home. I was hoping the Nexus 10 would be able to do a pixel-for-pixel mirroring on these guys, but it only outputs 1080p on the work monitor and 720p (!) on the home one.
It looks really bad on the screen at home. It's an Auria EQ276W from Microcenter, 27" 2560x1440. It would be super nice if the Nexus 10 would actually run this display at its full resolution. I was hoping the Nexus 10 would have SlimPort like the Nexus 4, since I could then use the DisplayPort input which is more reliable for supporting higher resolutions.
Maybe the pogo pins can output a higher res signal?
It's just a shame that I can't use the tablet as a docking device the way I use my laptop.

Do you have any evidence of this? The Nexus 10 has 6 pogo pins.
Current speculation is that they are Vcc, Gnd, Audio L, Audio R, USB D+, USB D-.
HDMI would be catered for wirelessly, If it got implemented.

A charger is the only pogo accessory that's been caught on camera so far, but six pins is way more than you need for a charger.
I tried to find out anything with multimeter, only found that first and last pins are grounded...
Anyone had this problem ? Its a service job or software ?
I tried 3 different cables on 3 different tvs , 3 different kernels including the original and 3 different roms and all i can see its black image on the tv . nothing its changing on nexus, just slow launcher scroll .
Do i need special cable ?
Thank you

I think you have to connect the tablet to your TV then power on your tablet

hmmm I just tried mine and couldn't get it to work either..
You should be able to plug it straight in, no need to restart tablet.
I have noticed an issue with regard to compatability of tv's though. I have a 42" and 32" LG lcds and a 21" samsung lcd tv upstairs, and they all work fine. Just plug it in and go. However there are a pair of toshiba lcd's downstairs, both different models, but niether of them will output audio over hdmi, despite displaying pictures just fine.
My phillips lcd world's just fine... I just wish google would scale the aspect ratio on everything not just google movies...
Try it on panasonic gt30, lg plasma and a cheap tv
Not working

Sounds like you need to send it back... I've never had a problem
I should be getting a new cable tomorrow to test. I hope mine isn't a dud too. My A500 had no problem connecting to both my vizio tvs.
I had this problem but I just left it for a month came back and all was fine. Can't explain why.
Just tried my new hdmi cord and it works great. I bought a 6 foot cable off ebay for 5 bucks.
I hope you gets yours fixed!
Found the problem ...

Make sure it's the Nexus and not simply the cable. I have a couple of micro usb cables that in both phone and nexus 10 only work if the cable is pushed upwards when connected. Other cables work just fine.
just got my mini hdmi adapter and hooked it up to the Sony brava downstairs and it works great. come up to our room and hook it to our philips 5000series 42" 1080p TV and only audio comes out and a black picture. tried 3 different hdmi cables and same thing. one cable is for my xbox the other for the cable box and they work on those devices but not the n10.
I tried 6 cables by now . from cheap to expensive, different formats ... All worked or no like i described earlier up . the socket its not working for me .

Unfortunatelly I've Panasonic TVs VT30 & GT30 which do not give sound out from the Nexus10 _and_ Onkyo 806 receiver which doesn't give the picture out from the Nexus10.
Here is the solution: 1 X 2 Port HDMI To HDMI Splitter Switcher Amplifier Box for HDTV PS3 TV 1080P
I got mine from banggood.com 'SKU043635' $18.70

Nexus10---> HDMI-splitter-|

Is it possible to use a Bluetooth mouse on a Motorola Xoom II, although the Xoom hasn't got a cursor is it possible
Thanks

Not sure about a mouse but...
I have a Stingray that ran stock ICS 4.0.4 and now is rooted with CM 10.0.0 with JB 4.1.2.
For the last 2 years, I've used an "Apple Magic Trackpad" as a mouse. Finger movement on the Trackpad causes a blue "halo" to appear on the Xoom screen. I also use an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard.
Now, there may be other options but Apple was the only "Bluetooth" input devices when I was looking.

As long as it has anything above android 3.2 it should work.

you can enable pointer location in developer options too.
or even use Droidmote on your touchscreen phone and use that as a mousepad

Absolutely! Moto made their own even and they're really very good. You can buy just the keyboard and mouse together or they do a work and play kit that includes a dock with 3 USB ports, analogue audio out and mini HDMI plus your HDMI cable, a high power adaptor the keyboard and the mouse. The cursor appears once the mouse is active.
Good post. I forgot Moto had their own kit.

One reason I got this tablet was to try miracast. I picked up a Panasonic. Blue ray player that supports miracast. It was easy to configure and works great! I don't know why but was surprised that it sends the sound also.

Isn't this Miracast that requires the screen to be on all the time ?

Yes, it appears that the screen must be on to enable screen mirroring. That is OK for me. I have it on right now with my 50" plasma TV and using my bluetooth keyboard. I just use the tablet kind of like a mouse pad since I don't know how to naviigate to everything with the keyboard.
