you should just be able to put it in bootloader unlock it and flash stock back from here if you wanted

I had this sdk installed, i actually gave it a try last night, but it said my no device found, im thinking i dont have the adb and fastboot, i dont know where to get and install them

Open where you installed the sdk to. The folder that has the sdk manager in it there should be a folder called platform-tools. In that folder is adb and fastboot.
well, i downloaded 4.0.3 on sdk managwr already, and i started cmd from there, it still said device not connected>/

So this is my second my touch 4 I rooted my first on no problem. Now that I'm an trying this one it doesn't seem to be taking the root. It comes up with the installing kernal them haas a problem and said failed for the .to file. Idk what I'm doing wrong and I'm not too great with ubuntu yet. New os for my poor windows computer...

so ive tried a few different things including a factory reset witch still has yet to take hold
Are you using gfree or root.sh? Haven't there been a few people who tried root.sh and it wouldn't work?
I've actually tried both of them and still to no success... I'm stumped I'm about to sends it back for a new one.

Tell us what you have tried so far so we can help you figure out what else you need to try. I had tried a couple of different methods before i found one that worked. The one that i found to work for my phone was found on another site through a link i got on the ultimate s=off thread.
Thank you guys I went and got a root explorer and moved the Gfree files to data/local
Then ran it in terminal works wonderfull.

check the development page. there is a very easy step by step process that worked for me and the .zips are right there for you to download too. Plus its pin on the top of the thread so you dont even have to dig for it. How much easier could it get? Be careful though i hear if you mess this up you could brick your device.

Yup, superoneclick root, then download rom manager and install the custom recovery.
as for roms i recommend ezGingerbread, but I my self is starting to get annoy with these force closes, and i doubt its the apps, because they be different apps that force close randomly and i would have to reinstall the whole app .

You can use SuperOneClick or go to the "traditional" way using SDK.
okay i have the free version of rom manager , and i know that they released touch recovery for mytouch 4G , my issue is that since i dont have premium rom manager , im gonna have to manually do it through fastboot or hboot (dont remember which) , my problem is that i have a damaged usb that doesnt mount or do anything other than charge . so how can i get the touch recovery ?
Use the links that have been posted to download it to your SD card. Use terminal emulator from the market to enter the commands to flash it. Leave out "adb shell" from the commands as that is telling the PC to use adb to execute.

I'm currently running miui, now eveytime I want to take video it tells me that my card is full when I know is not.it has nothing on the memory card 8gb.Do I need to repartition?

It could be the Rom, Im installing anothe one right now. This happen after I install windows Tango, than when i went back to android I start having this issue.
Do you issue still on New ROM?
