i just did a checkin and i received a system update ... shockingly it says 4.0.4 .. i already had 4.0.4 and the size was 1mb ... is it signs for 4.1 OTA? did any one receive the update?
i am using nexus s i9020a GSM .. FIDO
now my build number is changed from IMM76D to IMM76M..
I got it too on my us import i9020a running on SaskTel... the url is http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespoa/q1-YQR3w.zip.
Also got in on my i9020a (originated from Canada, telus i think). Any changelog available?
BTW it kills root...

Lets keep this on topic about this new OTA, if you want to talk about or ***** about JB, theres another thread right here
I assume its only the i9020a that is receiving this or has anyone with a i9020t or i9023 got this?
I'm running the i9020t and didn't getting anything, tried it a couple times. Should I still download it and install it?
Google saw that we really want jb. So they release a different ota to make ppl happy thinking its job.

Ok this didn't disable universal search so that's good. It did patch nearly every system app, some bin files, new ota certs, apn list, framework updated, lib updated, minor update to vendor, a file was added to lib "libbcc.so.sha1", and recovery was updated.
Post would be too long to list every change in verbose LOL so thats all.

Lol means google is trolling ... but why just i9020a ? let it be every one :victory:
Perhaps Google found a bug in the I9020A 4.0.4 release that would have prevented upgrading to JB. The I9020T/I9023 ROM was presumably not affected.

Here's my story, I'm getting my Nexus S probably by day after tommorow or maximum by wednesday, it's coming all the way from US. I've read the guides on updating to Android 2.3.3, but am still not sure, as this is my first Droid and i cant take risks as I cant get the Amoled version repaired in my country. I want someone to guide me personally on instant messenger as I upgrade to 2.3.3, can someone please volunteer to help me?
I think 2.3.3 is on the Nexus S when you buy it. If not, you will get an OTA update.
Updating to a newer version isn't that hard. If it's OTA you don't have to do anything at all.

Im pretty sure we will get it, cause i9100 was released after the 18month update plan for each new device was announced by google. And samsung is in this agreement too.
So I've heard reports about the OTA being released for 4.0.4 and I understand it's supposed to be a 2 week rollout schedule. This isn't a thread asking when I'll get it (I haven't).
Just let me know if you guys have gotten it yet, or what you're planning on doing. Make this a fun pole.

I just had a pop up that said a system update was available so I clicked install and it went into my cwm recovery and said something about it wasn't signed correct and installation was aborted. Was that the update to 4.0.4?
Edit: by the way I'm rooted and went back to gingerbread last night because I was having problems with the room I was running.

Yeh if you're running CWM you're probably not going to be able to get the OTA, it relies on the stock recovery I believe.

The update is working very well. Seems much faster and smoother.
I got the update just now. I was running a stock rooted rom and checking for updates like crazy and checking in like google was my untrusted girlfriend but no luck. Then i use one click stock to go completely back to stock and the update started instantly. Just remember to update to 2.3.7 first because stock is on 2.3.4 and reports showed error if you werent on 2.3.7.. its been since december i waited for this moment. custom roms were fun but stock 4.0.4 OtA just feels good to the soul.

Thanks, but I knew I could download it, I didn't want to do that because I wanted to wait for the official Play Store update.
I prefer the official as I am then sure that the Play Store will then be the most optimized for my Xoom ...
How do we update the Play Store, will there be an official update pushed on my Xoom or am I obliged to manually download the APK ?
Thanks

You probably don't have the US firmware installed on your Xoom. 4.1.2 is only rolling out to US WiFi-only devices. If you're in Greece, yours probably runs one of the international firmware variants and it remains to be seen if those will ever see an update to Jelly Bean.
Now, if you have a WiFi-only model, you can flash the US firmware to yours and then you will get the updates direct from Google (including Jelly Bean), but if you have a 3G model, you're out of luck unfortunately.

maybe they have realized we are playing with the multiwindow feature available on 4.1.2 and want us to stop hahahaha
There was error in naming the roms the roms released in the last 24 hours are all 4.1.1.
Only Germany has got 4.1.2 and it will be a gradual update meaning not direct jump from 4.0 to 4.1.2 for some reasons.
Remember what we download for samfirmware is a comple firmware not an OTA and hence it works no matter which previous version you are on but where as with OTA its only a part update which has dependencies
