Google Wallet is available for the Nexus 7 via OTA update?
I have heard that some people have gotten this Google Wallet, Is this available in Canada?
If not, why the limitation? its a wifi tablet, thus carrier-free. Is it based on FCC ID? Is there a way to get Google Wallet in Canada on the Nexus 7?

I just got my N7 from Play today.
It updated to 4.1.1 but I don't see the Wallet app.
Don't believe it's available in Canada. Why? Probably some licensing stuff.

Google wallet has never been available outside of the USA regardless the device. The most common way people do it, is to run market enabler after you have rooted the device, and then sideload the wallet apk.
I looked for market enabler but didn't find it in the play store. Might have to side load it also.
Can't wait for google wallet to e available to Canada!

If you've rooted your device, you can defrost Google Wallet using Titanium Backup.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I noticed that Google Wallet is on the actual device in the system/app folder, but it doesn't show up in my app tray. Magazines gave me the same problem.
Managed to defrost it with titanium backup.
Ended up that it said this is not available in your country

Hi guys I bought a SIM free nexus 4 from carphonewarehouse I'm using 3 the Google wallet app is there in system/app but not in my app drawer any idea how to enable it

Have you set up Google Wallet on the website: ?
http://www.google.com/wallet/#utm_source=RE&utm_medium=re-wal
Make sure you register a card and what not, like paypal, then see if you can find the app on the play store if it isn't in your main apps list.
I found it on the play store, and there was an enable button instead of an install button.
EDIT: I should point out the app doesn't work.
Thought Google wallet wasnt for UK

Didn't the enable it at the same time they enabled Google Music? Or is it specifically tap to pay you're referring to? Play store purchases are linked to your wallet account afaik
Pretty sure it hasn't.
There are/were ways of tricking it into working though.
Every time I load up Google wallet it says unsupported device. Will it still work if I want to make a payment at a store?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
yes it will work
Yes. I did it last night.
I thought that you need to temporarily unroot your phone in order to use Google Wallet?
No, there's no problem with root. It'll just say unsupported device, but Google Wallet works just like normal.
Yup, you can use it with no problems. Ive used it more than 10 times when i went on my christmas shopping. Its so awesome. Cashier's face is priceless when they see you pull out the phone to pay. Lol.

Nope, that would be renting / buying videos from the Play Store.
I have a Nexus 4 currently. If I pop in a T-Mobile prepaid SIM card, will I be able to freely use Google Wallet (freely as in just download and update from Play Store, no sideloading and other stuff)?
I've heard recently that T-Mobile blocks the use of Google Wallet; wasn't sure if it was a device-specific block, or overall carrier block.

Works fine for me as well.

That is not true at all! It woks just fine!!!
I used Google wallet on my galaxy nexus and now on my nexus 4 on tmoblile's network with no problem.
Mabie you misunderstood and they don't preinstall it on their phones. In which case I'm sure there is a .apk file for it out there somewhere.

Works fine for me especially with NFC!
It will work fine. Just make sure you don't get a tmobile sim with isis on it. That will block Google wallet

Is Verizon that blocks Wallet, not T-Mobile.

That's not true either, I've had coworkers with the Verizon Samsung galaxy nexus and Google Wallet worked for then.
Like i said earlier, it is more likely that the carrier or manufacturer removed it from the stock ROM. In which case if your phone supports NFC you can install Google wallet from the play store or get a .APK file. I'm pretty sure there is one here on XDA somewhere.
Remember NCF is still an emerging technology. However most high end android phones manufactured within the past year ( such as the galaxy S3 and S4) have an NFC chip.

Verizon has requested google block access to downloading Google Wallet from the Play Store, but if you sideload Wallet it will work.
Don't need to sideload Wallet, you can just get it from the Play Store. No tricks or hacks needed.
Just make sure that your TMo SIM isn't a ISIS SIM card (google on how to see if its a ISIS sim card)

Could someone please upload a nexus 7 Google voice apk, trying to get one to work with my device but keep getting FC
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire2 using XDA Premium HD app
Why not just install it from the play store?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I am a kindle fire 2 user and the one in the play store force closes right away. I've had luck in similar situations using nexus 7 app.
But the nexus 7 doesn't ship with voice installed. Getting the apk from it wouldn't be any different than an apk from any other device that downloaded it from the play store.

yeah you're right, I looked it up, the apk is universal. Some apps vary by device though.

I don't need it anymore, the APK is universal for google voice. But some are not. For example the directv app I downloaded from the play store on my kindle wouldn't work but the one I got from a nexus 7 user did.
Anyone know if Google Wallet will work on the S5? Predictions? I see they are advertising Isis with the S5 on Verizon.

Google made changes to Wallet so that it will run, but only on KitKat devices.
http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/14/google-wallets-tap-to-pay-feature-will-require-android-4-4-kitk/
I believe this was to go around Verizon's blocking of Wallet in order to force ISIS on us.

Is there a big difference between wallet and isis?
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Google Wallet works without a hitch.
Also i dont know if there is to much difference between ISIS and GW. but then again for some reason ISIS has never really worked for me.

Also can confirm you are free and clear to use it. I downloaded Wallet from the play store, installed and it setup in a few mins.
Also it does replace ISIS as the default payment app. Go Google!

Yes.
Google Wallet allows any of my cards to be used. Isis limits it to American Express cards for the most part and it seems to be accepted in a lot less places than Google Wallet. I currently have both on my phone though, cause isis gives you free purchases of up to 5 dollars at a vending machine after 4 tap to pay purchases. (I work at Verizon Wireless I am constantly hitting the machine for bottled water)
