Loving the tablet, but wanted to see if anyone else received a unit with a loose or overly sensitive power/screen button? The slightest pressure toggles it while the volume rocker feels solid.
Appreciate it!!!

My power button feels solid along with the volume rocker.
Call Google and get an advanced replacement maybe?

so the overly sensitive power button is a defect? mine is really sensitive too
As is mine. I just assumed it was made that way. With the smart case I have, I never press it, so I don't mind.

Am I the only one feeling that the volume keys are a little loose? The function fine but make a sound when I shake the phone. If it's just me I'll probably return it.
+1 Same here
Some here, a little loose. My wife's is the same, also. The power button is much tighter.
OK. Seems like replacing the phone won't help. I'll just get use to it I guess.
Mine doesn't make any sound when I shake the phone. If I were you I'd swap it. Rocket had very slight amount of give but I wouldn't classify it as loose.

Volume and power buttons are all tight and make no sound on mine when I shake the phone.
Hmm, my volume button is loose too. Sounds very cheap/janky... especially when the phone vibrates!
Might try a return.
This bothers me most about the phone. Otherwise, it's an awesome device.

Same for me too. No problems whatsoever.
My rocker is loose. Power button is very snug. I have the black case from t mobile on so I don't care though.
I just did an exchange on my vibrant.. the volume key on the one he brought out was extremely loose.. I made him get me another from the back and it felt nice and tight. I guess some are like that.
I just exchanged mine in-store too and got a unit with a much more solid volume button.
does anyone here like the home button???....the button on my s3 seems very loose and clicks.....it doesn't feel right....anyone else notice this or is my button defective....not only does it feel loose, but I hate it....its to low, and is almost hard to get to with a case on......
I love it.

I could do without the physical button. I liked how my old Fascinate just had capacitive buttons

I like it and it adds to the look of the phone.
t-mobile sgs3 stock rom/rooted
The button generally is fine, it really sounds like your is defective, it shouldn't click as far as I know
I like it, I hated the captivated buttons.

I don't use it very often...
T-Mobile Pebble Blue Galaxy S3
I hated it at first since I had gotten so used to not having one but, now I LOVE it.
Mine isn't loose or anything, Maybe you should go back to store and see what they think?
It is kind of low but I use the rock quicksand case which leaves the bottom area open so no issues there.
The physical home button is pretty annoying. All capacitive like in the One X was much better.

mine is the same.. the right side is lose compared to the left side and it clicks everytime i favor clicking the right side..
Rogers is sending me a brand new one in the mail..
and my phone gets MAD hot.. temperature says 48degrees C right now
I love it! Mine is solid and silent; yours is probably defective.
Capacitive buttons are MUCH better than physical ones.
Hating it.
For the people who don't like it: did you know you can wake the phone using it instead of the power button? That's something you can't do with a capacitive home button...
Don't like the button. What good is it that my home button can unlock the phone when i hate pressing the button?

If you don't like the home button, you can use this program called Task Changer to put a virtual home right above the physical one:

Given the great placement of the power button in Samsung phones, that's nothing to write home about.
The home button works perfectly. It has a positive feel you just don't get with the capacitive buttons.
Does anyone else's Nexus 4 have a power button that feels "mushy" and doesn't have a pronounced "click" like the volume buttons? It might be the S-Line case that's amplifying the issue but even with the case off, the power button doesn't feel the same as the volume ones. The click is there but it's just not very strong and it feels like something that could be pushed in and stuck there someday...
my N4 feels okay, i usually have the Google bumper on it anyways so most of the time i feeling on the bumper (and its better than the actual power button itself!)
But if ur worry about it being suck you can always RMA it....or theres always the option of volume wake
Cheers!
My power button feels slightly soft... But I don't feel it much since I have a case on.

Yeah, one of my (very few) complaints about this phone is how the power button feels to press. Mine does click when pressed, but sometimes if I press on an edge instead of in the center, it'll click but the screen won't turn on. Hoping for a decent volume wake or PGM-style app to come out for the N4
EDIT: I had the official bumper on mine for a while, and it makes all the buttons feel great, so you might consider picking one up if the button feel really bugs you. I decided that the phone felt too sexy without a bumper

Sexy until an accidental drop occurs
It isn't very shallow coming from a Galaxy Nexus. I thought my power button was shorted out or something when I first got the Nexus 4, because I felt like I wasn't using more force than necessary to turn it on. I got used to it after a while, but I occasionally have to tap the power button multiple times...

Use showp1984's Bricked Kernel in the Original Android Development forum. It has a feature called Sweep2Wake where you do not need to use the power button to wake, the phone.
It's truly amazing. Try it out. Make sure you flash the Stock kernel in the thread through fast boot before flashing it or your ROM most likely will not boot

To be honest, compared to the buttons on the iPhone, every android phone I have ever used feel lousy. They are hard to feel for, frequently obstructed, and are not positive by any stretch of the imagination. While this one is better than my Nexus One, I doubt they could have made a worse one than that if they tried.
For a button that will be pressed hundreds, if not thousands of times, it is a fail.
I'm annoyed because of the position, it should be lower IMO.

Well I use the volume buttons to unlock, so functionally it doesn't really affect me but just like to know if this is a standard or defect.
I like the fact its harder to press so I don't accidentally press it. I've found on other phones I press it while watching videos and have to unlock/enter pin/press play multiple times because the button is too sensitive.
My power button is a bit harder to press, not mushy though.. The vol+/- have a crisper button mechanism... It does spring back quickly though, I don't think it'll break.

After using my Galaxy Nexus for a while, it actually took me a bit to get used to the higher location on the 4. I thought I was crazy.

Yeah that's what I mean. It still has the "click", though not as audible as the volume ones. It just feels inferior to the volume buttons.

My Nexus 4's volume rocker is slightly wobbly. Is that normal? It's also fairly low against the phone. I can press it fine, but wondering if it should be more extended? Or are they all like this?
Secondly, I bought a cheap TPU case to tie me over till my Ionic Guardian arrives. It's similar to this;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Google-Nexu...6/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url/280-1243765-6759331
I couldn't use the volume buttons with the case on so used a knife to cut out the piece over the buttons. I can now access them but I can only use my nail. Could that damage my phone using doing that instead of using the full finger?
Or am I just being overly pedantic?
Anyone?
You can find several threads on wobbly and noisy volume button in this forum...
So it's normal?
How about using my nails to change the volume? Just don't want to damage my phone you see, expensive phone for a poor student haha.
Yeah it is. Mine is the same. I find it cheap and low quality but I understand why. I saw a video of a guy dissembling the nexus 4 and the volume rockers can be taken off very easily. So essentially, they're pretty loose. Its normal.
