Hi folks. I was going to flash ICS on my friend's DHD but how strange that no ROM supports camera. AOSP roms do have a working Camera. Is there any work around for this?

Ok, I guess that attacking one each other is not solution. We are here to share knowledge and our flash addiction. There´s no need to answer like that. You are senior member and you know the rules. You could have done it a bit different. ICS Camera issue have been debated many times. ICS AOSP roms have working cameras but not video recording...that is stated in the corresponding threads. The solution should be able as soon as HTC releases the 3.0 Kernel or the first ICS Sense update is rolled out. That is also in the forums, there´s also a specific thread for it. So, don´t get that angry and show that u are different in your manners if you feel offended by someone...if not you just show that are the same....
It is on the main forum that says android 4.0 coming July- August, It is beyond annoying when this is all you see when CLEARLY in all sense 4.0 threads are saying they are waiting for kernel 3.0
I feel bad for the devs they must facepalm at all these people who can't read/search

This. I'm in 3 different forums here, don't want to think about the number of thread asking for gingerbread, froyo, cupcake, etc. It's inevitable, but just have to wait for it to be ready.
@ckisgen, I take your point, I did kind of jump on the guy, but a quick search would have shown this exact same thread a few times. It's ok to ask questions, but at least try and find the answer yourself first.

hey. Not tryin to add fuel to the fire here seeing as we are all here to enhance this great phone. I noticed that Bierce called it impossible, that was said about a lot of things. I'm not doubting you in any way I'm just the type of person who will always give it a try. I'm only 15 and not exactly to good at deving or anything yet, buti am learning. I know that dastin is the expert porter here but his life is hectic right now. I can't promise anything at all, butif someone could point me in the direction of where to learn how to port, I could give it a go. Who knows, maybe I can get it started on the way and one of the more experienced devs can hammer it out. Worth a shot, eh. Sorry for my poor English, I'm still getting used to my to keyboard.
the thing is its not that there impossible it just seems like all he does is scavenge other forums looking for wierd stuff to port like the other day when he was asking someone to do the miui port from the mt3g and he didnt even bother reading the thread because 2 posts down they were complaining that it was just a themed rom and not miui.

ahh I see. I fully understand why you had to "flame" him a little then. I understand why he wants stuff ported but it is important to realize welose people every day. I'd be glad to start work on it if anybody would have interest in assisting

You mean we can just swap out a different camera app and make ICS camera work!?!? And all this time we have been trying to make the stock one work has been wasted?? Genius!!
No. The ROM and the ICS image are unable to get the MyTouch 4G camera to actually load. An app is basically just a theme for the main camera. It calls up the same camera and therefore no app will run.
Am I right everyone? If I'm just confusing things I'll delete this post.

Sort of. Third-party camera apps are completely separate from the ROM's built-in app, but they do use the same libraries and drivers to interact with the camera's hardware.

basically what these guys are saying is that there is no one working on a camera solution, when clearly there are. Feb isn't the ONLY one around here guys... (though he may be the best)

Jamie was always an all-around good guy in my book. Heck of a developer, to boot. He gave us one of the best AOSP ROM's for the OG EVO, and his Pac Man ROM for the EVO LTE was very popular, also. I hate all that's gone on lately. Jamie, best of luck to you.

in fact he could only have meant that post since that's the only post jamie has made on xda since the flurry of posting activity that irritated the xda people in the first place.
hardly what i would call posting "regularly", especially since he explicitly says it's his last post ever on xda unless some site administrators explain their response.
i don't really have a dog in that fight. i just liked the way reloaded runs on my phone and appreciate jamie's dedication in making that happen. if more ROMs come, i'll flash them. if i have to find them on twitter, i'll find them. for now i wish him well, even if i expect he isn't going away for long.

no i think its the perfect reaction when it comes to losing one hell of a dev like jamie. Im not much of aosp rom kind of guy i prefer sense but reloaded was the longest aosp rom i ever been on...

XDA does seem to over-react sometimes,but you need to figure that we have alot of easily influenzed minds here in XDA(kids)we're their piers and XDA is just trying to hold some order in here,it keeps people from *****in and complaining soo much,noone wants to come to a forum where all there is,is flamming and griping about this and that,yea some or most bans,could have been handled different,but we dont own this forum,we just reside here temporarily,you should know this,Hip.

XDA does seem to over-react sometimes,but you need to figure that we have alot of easily influenzed minds here in XDA(kids)we're their piers and XDA is just trying to hold some order in here,it keeps people from *****in and complaining soo much,noone wants to come to a forum where all there is,is flamming and griping about this and that,yea some or most bans,could have been handled different,but we dont own this forum,we just reside here temporarily,you should know this,Hip.

Yeah yeah, no doubt!
I dunno why the link didn't work, but if you look at his profile, and click on statistics and then posts, you can see he's still posting and not banned. If anything, it's Rope that's banned, not Jamie

It looks more like the decision was Jamie's to leave XDA, not the mods. It has happened several times before where the Dev's asked the Mods to close their threads because of the drama that goes on in them. If he were banned, his account would be frozen and his threads would all be closed.

Thank you kendall. I think jrollercoasters started this for everyone to say positive things about Jamie's contributions to us and our device, not speculate on what happened. Let's all just give him thanks we think he may deserve as I believe that is what this thread was intended for.
If you want to know what happened, ask the man.
