My phone won't boot after flashing modem - Galaxy S II General

After flashing the modem LPW through rom manager, my phone restarted and get stuck in a black screen after the S2 logo.
I can go into download mode but not in recovery, single solution would be try flash a rom through odin?

Please do not use ROM MANAGER
it has bricked many phones
flash the stock firmware back using odin ... it will be fixed

Hope you also reported the thread & asked mods to move it to Q&A as well as bringing the OP's attention to that thread ? Just sayin ;-) Because if you didn't, all you calling attention to that thread does is cause people to make duplicate threads in Q&A, making more headaches for mods (and more crap posts in the forum generally).

My best bet would be to flash back your stock ROM through Odin. I never use Rom Manager (it doesn't pick up that I have Clockworkmod Recovery installed, so I don't trust it ). I use Mobile Odin instead, it's worked flawlessly every time I've flashed a modem through it.

I was with the Rom "ussrv8" until then.
However, he left an update of your kernel, so I installed the updated kernel
After installing, the device usually called, functioned normally for a few minutes .. Approximately 40 .. But, out of nowhere he hung up, and now just restarts endlessly
I can not go into recovery mode, and also not to get into the download mode, as the unit is not restarting.
But once I managed to get into download mode, I managed to install the stock ROM, but the problem remains ..
Oh and when you turn the image no longer appears "Galaxy y GT-S5360"

try odin once again..
I think.it will help
rooting is new for me...and i am noob to root...
Download a new firmware by Doky then try to reflashing it again.
But i think some of our dev/friends here in XDA were gonna help you
or if not contact Samsung Care Center.
Try with Odin once more but this time include totoro file(along with PDA,MODEM nd CSC)-maybe this will work.
I was using totoro before with no problem-in ur case this could be the right thing
Good luck man !!!!:good:
NEVER include PIT file or tick repartition. Just make sure you are flashing the right way. Make sure you have all the drivers required. Download the latest regional firmware from doky73's thread and follow the instructions there.

[Q] I believe I have also soft bricked my Rogers (Canadian) S4 i337m

Hi all,
I think I have soft bricked my S4 i337m rogers Canadian variant.
I had rooted / unlocked the bootloader with motochopper successfully.
- I am using CWM
First thing I tried to do was backup the phone onto the external SD which would not work so I just went onto the next step.
I tried flashing a ROM onto the phone after doing phone restore and clearing cache. All installed correctly (apparently) and now when I boot up the phone the Samsung logo will appear for about 5 seconds then the phone will go black and try to boot up again.
The good:
- i have access the recovery mode still
The bad:
- no recovery made for the phone
- seems to be boot looping
As a side not I have tried installing a couple other ROMs which all result in the same issue.
Is there anything that can possibly be done?
I would happily put the stock ROM back on the phone.
All help would be greatly appreciated!
Rob.
9 times out of 10 a factory reset will get you out of a boot loop. Do that in recovery and reboot.

If you are flashing a custom ROM that is not specifically for your phone, say a i9505 rom, you need to flash a Canadian kernel right after or you will bootloop. You also cannot flash any loki based roms either. As for the CWM backups, are you trying to back up to your external SD? If so, ensure the card is formatted fat32. To help get through your softbrick, just get into download mode and flash with odin

Okay great I will try these. Does the kernel have to be specific to the ROM?

The kernel is specific to your device. so you would use the i337M kernel.
So the procedure would be flash the rom of your choice, then before you boot flash YOUR i337M kernel, it will boot.
Good luck.
And make sure you do not flash a rom for the i9500 as you will hard brick
Also,
Make sure you choose the right i337m kernel. ie. a TouchWiz kernel for TW Roms and an AOSP kernel for CM10.1/AOSP Roms.
You should be able to:
remove your sdcard,
format it to fat32,
download the correct rom and kernel for you i337m to your freshly formatted sdcard,
put the card back into your phone,
boot into recovery,
install ROM zip from ext-sdcard,
install Kernel zip from ext-sdcard,
reboot.
phew....sounds like a lot of steps but not really I guess.

Hello,
Greetings to you, I am sorry you have come to this point. I myself have bricked my phone just yesterday from flashing a bad ROM and not backing up my ROM properly. But I hope I can help you with some tips that i did to recover my phone fully. I apply some links to help you out but I recommend some patience lots of HW. ( Kies didn't work for me bugger =p.)

there is a user by the name of samersh72. you can request for a link to download your correct firmware it's best to get back to stock, ( don't forget to thank the user . )
this is someones video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a3qghhpDxg ( this helped me out as well)
I have these files/programs readied when I reverted back to stock
odin 1.3 ( i have odin 3.0 and didn't work for me reverting stock as it couldnt detect my tar.md5 file, but for some reason it worked for odin 1.3)
have your correct firmware ( I downloaded mine from http://www.sammobile.com, but for some reason I can't find yours, there is one on this site for sure just have the patience to look) make sure its for your correct carrier too.
im pretty sure you know how to do the DL mode, but just incase ill assume that you may or may not know, ill type this in anyway:
Get your S4 Download mode, [pressing up+power+home], (sometimes if i feel its not kicking in, just quick release then do it again)
open your odin 1.3, plug your phone in, tick auto-reboot, and F. reset time. PDA ticked, then find your correct firmware. hit start, then i hope from this something good will come out.
Best of wishes in your journey here in xda.
Cheers!

if a simple format data in cwm doesnt work you can try the following
download any stock based custom rom for your device
put it on root of sd card (you will need another phone to download it onto your sd card or a pc with card reader)
goto cwm
format system data cache
mount system data cache
flash rom zip
restart
else you will need to get a pc to flash stock via odin
just so you know dont try and change your phones id again - it doesnt work and you will not be able to play unsupported games - they are unsupported because either they need a higher android version or they are for armv7 only - spoofing info will not suddenly make them work - they need porting if possible depending on the lib files of the game
also this is a dev section - questions go in Q & A so I will get the thread moved

Having an impossible time flashing CM11 rom, been at it for hours please HELP

This used to be easy.
After 8 hours yesterday I think I managed to root the phone. CWM/TWRP will not install. At all, under any method. Rom manager, goo manager, I now get this stupid message that says that "an application attempted to access something unauthorized and has been blocked" over and over.
Just trying to flash CM11 rom. Guess I need to learn how to sideload or something? I physically can't get my phone to recovery mode other than the stock Android, which does not have the "flash zip from sdcard" option.
For the love of god help me. My phone stopped working around 2 pm yesterday and I seriously can't believe I'm about to be going into day 2 of this, so rather than drive myself crazy i'm going to wait for help
bump please help should be simple

its the official samsung cable. and yes i tried others
tried other versions of odin as well
and different versions of both twrp and cwm
its crazy i tells ya xD
If it fails to flash true Odin, then you are doing something wrong.
- Different pc
- Reinstall drivers
- Different cable
- Different usb port
- Make sure kies is not running in the background
What are you running? Windows 8? Try a windows 7 pc.
Post the details of the error you are getting.
Also when the flash goes succesfull, but you still don't have a custom recovery, then uncheck auto-reboot.
can someone please link me to a guaranteed working version of a flashable recovery for odin ?
I know its a lot to ask but I've actually gone through almost that entire list you listed
tried diff cables
no kies runnning
on windows 7
drivers been installed twice
maybe i should try the other port, but in case that doesnt work can anyone just link me? sorry i've just never had this much problems with this, must be b/c of the new security knox update or w/e in oct of last year. Last June I did all this in about 15 minutes....
I had the same trouble with the knox crap yesterday, the only way I could get it rooted and/or with custom recovery was to use the Cyanogen windows installer, then when CM booted I then rebooted into recovery and installed a different rom from there. :good:

It will get you to download the installer (or http://dist01.slc.cyngn.com/CMInstaller.msi?t=1403660099360) the click it to run, It may download an update for itself, then it will download recovery, operating system, gapps, then start to install everything. About 300mb altogether.
That way you don't need the tar files, just search on this sight for flashable from recovery for the recovery files you want. (I use the touch versions myself).

Stuck in recovery

Sorry if this does not need a whole new topic, I could not find a dedicated help thread to the ROM in question.
So this is the ROM I tried to install.
Let me explain the steps I had done first:
Downloaded ROM through uTorrent (could not transfer files via Windows > Android for some reason)
Rebooted into recovery (TWRP)
Proceeded to do a factory reset/wipe
Installed the new ROM
Rebooted
Nothing happens, it just gets stuck on the GT-I9505G screen and after a little while reboots into recovery.
I'm thinking about trying to redownload the ROM and trying again.
EDIT: I should mention that I'm with the EE carrier in the UK.

Just a thought; Is there a ROM for the i9505G yet?
Hi,
You are installing a ROM from an i9505. Your device is i9505G. Hardware wise they are the same, but the partitions are different.
Please check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381339 for a ROM for you .
All the best and Merry Christmas!

if your device hardware in i9505G then
you need to flash the rom for your device and you now have the official loolipop update from samsung if you want it download it from saammoile firmware section and flash it and you would be official without any problems.
but if your hardware device is different please let us know your phone model (setting > about > model) so we can guide you precisely
