Facebook and Contacts....HELP! - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

I just purchased the GS3 and love it! I did a sync with my facebook app and only added with existing contacts but it now shows ALL my facebook friends. Is there a way to fix this? Also the pictures that sync from facebook to this phone are all pixelated and not clear like on my Sensation. Besides that, this phone is awesome! Is there anyway to fix these isses?

Use haxsync app. Its not free but works the best. after install go to settings> account and sync, then sync contacts. When you use this make sure to delete the Facebook syncing so it doesn't conflict with it. You will still find some duplicate with haxsync but not as many and you can join duplicate ones. This is the closest were gonna get to HTCs fb contact migration. And the contact pics are higher resolution.

If you want to use the sync feature through the Facebook app, the only way I have found for it not to add ALL contacts, is to use an older version. 1.8.1 is the newest one I have found where "sync with existing" actually works. Still going to be pixelated though. If you don't want it pixelated I would suggest an app like the one suggested above or something like syncmypix.

I use Facebook contact Sync. You can choose the size of the contact pictures, sync all or only existing, and it's free. It also updates statuses for your contacts.

[Solved]Sense like Facebook integration for non-Sense builds?

Hello!
Search produced nothing, so here I go - I want software that provides sense-like integration for non-sense builds. What I really care about are contact pics.
I tried Facebook app, but
1. It will miss most of the contacts, because my contacts are in Cyrillic, but FB are in Latin... although this in just annoyance and could be fixed with 2-3 hours free time spared.
2. Problem 2 is more significant for me - even if a contact is linked, dialer still shows gmail account pic, or no pic at all (even if the contact is linked with FB and has a FB pic showing)
3. Nice addition will be if someone proposes a cool contact app which manages contact groups( Google should add at least this to upcoming Android versions)
SyncMyPix does what I want

If you are using the htc facebook application from the market, it should ask you at the first start, if and how you want to sync your contacts.
After first start, you can configure it under settings-> sync contacts.
..but syncMyPics should also work.
I have htc facebook on my DHD but it seems I cannot find it in the market and download it for some reason. I know it happens. To be honest, SyncMyPix does the job even better, cos it writes down all images into contact pic place and nothing more, and I don't get all the unknown facebook contacts to bloath my contact book
I would like to see a download link to htc facebook sync though

So it is not my fault, then. The stock FB app cannot provide the functionality Sense does... SyncMyPix then...

Matched contacts suggestions without a sense rom?

I was running cyanogenmod, but I missed the ability to match contact suggestions.
The dialer too obviously, I know I can use an alternative dialer for this.
If there is a matched contacts method or app, I can dump sense for good.

Bump in the night.
You tried the facebook for android app? twitter app? They synch the contacts pictures and numbers off facebook and twitter, google account would have hopefully backed up your contacts as well so it will pull it from there as well, thats the same as matched contacts (Y) all matched contacts was,
TL;DR download facebook app from market, install, just go to account settings and add an account and make it a facebook one
?????
profit.
I have people such as my brother who have different names on facebook and twitter. This gives me two contacts where I want one.
Have you tried Gibt contacts? I remember it offers some kind of contact merging...

Gah... curse you, Auto correction. I meant Go contacts... should be included in Go dialer...

So we lost Facebook sync

Are there any apps to get this bback. I miss my contacts not having pictures
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm using SyncMyPix. It can download your facebook friends pictures. Also the pictures will be uploaded to google contacts.
Awesome cheers

This is a life saver. And the fact that you can select some contacts where the names doesn't match perfectly makes this better than the official FB sync.
Thanks for posting this. However, there is one pretty big flaw, at least in my opinion. There's no option to prevent the app from overwriting contact icons that I manually set on my own. This can be annoying as many people have stupid pictures set as their profile pics on facebook.
Can i really sync all contact even the ones not on my phone or is it just for syncing a photo?

my contacts dont have pictures on them only my girlfriend and me. as for facebook I deactivated a long time ago, I couldnt stand the site. only thing that annoys me is the fact games force you to have one, eg zynga poker, Loved it until I found out its facebook only
I use http://danauclair.com/addressbooksync/ and http://spanningsync.com for my Mac.

Contact won't sync with Facebook

Hey guys,
Trying to sync my contacts with those one Facebook that way when they call me their profile pic shows up. But I don't see an option to sync. I'm running miui 1.8.12 with tiamat kernel. I know with other roms I had that option.

what VENOMENON_24 is trying to say is go to the market and download the facebook app. (dont log in through the browser) when you sign into the facebook app it will ask you to "sync with contacts" select yes and your good to go.
I am using the Facebook app. It sync only some of the contacts not all. I also try matching the names exactly how they have it in fb only shows what seems like coding but won't sync to their fb

go to settings in the facebook app and hit Sync All
For those that aren't being matched with their Facebook profile, but that have an entry from Facebook in your contacts app...
Go to the Contacts app and find the person you want to merge to the FB contact. Select the contact, select menu > edit contact, then menu > join.
Aside from a couple of people, mine synced up perfectly. I didn't have to do anything special through MIUI other than join 3 people because they have idiotic Facebook names that aren't their given names.
Some people use SyncMyPix or whatever the app is called to get photos to show in Contacts. It may be worth trying if you still have problems.
MIUI isn't the same as Sense. The social networking integration that's a part of Sense isn't native in AOSP roms. I think Facebook and other such sites are kind of lame, so I don't miss it.

Plain thanks for the info. Didnt realized after edit there was another sub menu to select join.

Facebook sync question...

So I've downloaded the new Facebook native app and I've noticed that in accounts in system settings a Facebook entry is now there. When I click on it I see contact sync as an option. Does anyone know if this will just sync ALL contacts from Facebook or will it just merge Facebook data with any contacts I already have?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I think it just downloads all your Facebook contacts and you can chose to have the visible under phone contacts.
You could try checking in the Facebook app, under settings, if it has the Sync option => Only existing contacts as an option, then it will merge.
Thanks Mate, unfortunately no such option in this facebook app like there is in the iOS one. I don't understand how facebook could miss this huge option in their grand native app release... :-/
download haxsync from the play store, it works waaaaay better than regular fb sync ever did. or use a custom ROM that supports native fb sync. I think modaco ROM has it

It's because Facebook and Google disagree on something and Facebook disabled this option for AOSP roms.
HTC and other manufacturers running Android have this functioning with the Facebook app out of the box.
But as suggested use Haxsync, works great, use it myself. It syncs high quality photos and it has face recognition so it only syncs faces.
