Suggestion for stable ROM? - Epic 4G General

My wife and I have been using CleanGB since it was new. We mostly liked it for battery life and stability, though it eventually crapped out and anyway it's EOL.
There are a lot of ROMs out now, but really none of them look super stable from the descriptions. What would you guys suggest for a stable, battery sipping ROM that's not laggy?
Also considering the stock ROM. Are the custom ROMs much better than stock these days?

Not sure what descriptions you're reading, but The People's ROM and Mortify are both very good choices.
Both fast, stable, and with good followings to help you out with any issues.

Honestly, they're about even. TPR might have a slight slight edge.
Try them both. Put one on your phone and one on the wife's. It's all about personal preference.
And watch out for that Kenny guy. He's a little ban happy lately.

Thanks. I'll try TPR since it's been around longer. I'm into new; really stable, well established new.

Key differences between trigger 2.7 and bionix 1.3.1 ??

What is the difference between the two roms?

A lot, and mostly things you (or 99%) of the people on here could explain.....
from an end-user, just try both and see which you prefer. Not hard to try one and then try another. I flashed 4 roms one day, and loved every moment.

Yep, just try both and see what works better for you. I have, and I like the Trigger 2.7 personally. Just seems "flashier" and shows off the phone a little better, in my opinion.
Both are VERY good ROMs and you can't go wrong with either
Tried both, can't tell the difference speed wise. Battery life is also good on both.

For me the biggest difference between the two is level of "polish." They are both nice ROMs, but Trigger is just slightly better IMO in regards to the slickness and cosmetic appeal. As was stated above, it's the ROM to show off your phone to friends.
And I never experience any slow-downs or lagginess anywhere and I can't remember the last time I had a FC.
Trigger is the closest thing to my favorite ROM from my G1 days, SuperD.
Man I miss SuperD!!

Beast of a ROM
(Trigger should not be compared to it!)
Just flash both, and see which one you like the most.
Then when CM7 is finally fully stable, and has great battery life, go to that.

but then team whiskey will come out with 2.3 that is better. Cm7 is not really the best. I've tried a cm7 rom many times on different phones and there just not "Polished".
The TeamWhiskey will be a stock 2.3.
Compared to CM which has a bunch of speed improvements and options to enhance your phone!

No need to battle. Flash both and you decide. Everyone varies. Both are great.
Has anybody experienced a significant difference in battery life between the two?

A backup of your files plus a flashing of a new ROM takes about 15 mins max. That's just to get a feel of the ROM and it's functions. So just flash them both, or even more and decide what YOU like.
If you want to test out the battery life, well that will take using the ROM for a few days. No one can truly tell you the difference in battery life because we all use our phones so differently.
I will say this tho: I've used both , and was a diehard TW ROM fan but then I used Trigger. I LOVE Trigger. But it's mostly because of the themeing and because of how involved the dev is in his own ROMs thread with answering questions and taking the users advice, requests, and opinions.
But again, it's really up to what YOU like. Don't listen to dumb quadrant scores and such and others battery opinions. Try them out and see. Both are great ROMS with their own pluses and minuses

Hello eminembdg, I have been a loyal fan of teamwhiskey and their rims. However, I am about to try triger out this weekend. I just want to know if I will need to disbale voodoo and if there are some other caution I need to take before flash triger's 2.8 rom. I am presently running bionix 1.3. Thanks for your expected response.

No need to disable voodoo if you're flashing from the red recovery. It was an issue with the original voodoo kernels (JAC's) and the ulf ones, but not anymore (in my experience, at least). I was also a TW fan until I tried out Trigger a month or so ago. Haven't changed since.
OP, gonna have to agree with the others. It's your phone, your usage. Try each one out and stick with whichever one you like best. They're both great rom's though.

As long as your rom is currently running voodoo then just as the post above mine stated, no you do not have to disable voodoo.
Hold down power button, click recovery, and if it takes you to a red recovery then you can just flash away like normal.
BTW, Trigger just updated to 2.8.1 today with a nice memory tweak and a couple other small tweaks. GREAT ROM
Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate your responses. Will do just as advised. Thank you.
I havent used trigger so I cant comment on it, but Ive been a huge TW fan since Nero 4. Stayed with it and I'm still super stoked about the look and the performance.
Vibrant, Bionix-v 1.3.1, Overstock 2.0, Voodoo...
I used to be a HUGE fan of TW and their roms. I used TW roms since Bionix 1.3.
But ever since I tried EDT roms especially Trigger, I dont think I'm gonna bother with TW anymore. Its just that much better.
Been using bionix v 1.2.1 for a while now. Love this rom.

Right now im using bionix and loving it. Trigger is wonderful as well and it seem faster. they have diffrent thems and small differences here and there. so close i basicly had to nit pick to pick one. trigger i had sms problem had to have it a certain format. could this be fix proabably so. for some reason i had a data issue as well other than that everything was great on trigger fast and smooth. Bionix didnt have those issues for me so i went back im trying to find a problem to send me back to trigger but i havent found one yet im about to test battery trigger had a great battery life for me with overstock 1.5. when i checked the system slept pretty well. it would be at 1% over night while charging. time to test bionix see if it compares thats it
Can't download Trigger 2.8.1
Hi everyone,
I am totally new to modifying phones but I am quite computer literate. I like the Vibrant alot but obviously the original software does not perform too well. I have tried to download the Trigger 2.8.1 ROM via the link in the developers section but I get nothing more than a blank page staring at me. Am I doing something wrong? I would have posted there but since I am new I am not allowed
thanks

Aren't you getting tired of the "This rom update is great, it's even faster!"

Aren't you getting tired of the "This rom update is great, it's even faster!"
Haven't been around and flashing for too long, started with the sgs1 and got the sgs2 now.
With every rom update there are always a bunch/lot of dudes who say "Wow thanks! My [insert device] is even faster now!"
If you would read for example the whole Darky rom thread for the sgs1, you would think the latest version of the Darky ROM (after about a hundred updates) the phone should be as fast as the latest supercomputer.
Just a thought I wanted to share with you guys.
i agree.. infact the KF1 seems to be sluggish then KE7.. i have noticed that in KF1 the android system uses less battery.. duuh .. no wonder its sluggish.. they tried to minimise power consumpption and in doing so have made it sluggish

that is the thing with flashing methods that do (or require) a reset.
of course it is faster than before, because you just set up your phone from start and dont have the crap on it like before. it's like saying "hey, windows 7 is so much faster, because after i installed it it was faster than my 3 year running windows xp installation".
it is really difficult to judge speed if flashing incorporates a reset.
tbf im still on the stock rom, im waiting for people to say, hey this rom is super fast+has a good battery etc. I dont think that magic firmware has come yet.
dont forget the placebo effect.
people flash new roms, where literally nothing is different to stock apart from root.
so why are we doing it?
because we are leet people far away from being normals. so we need cutomized stuff. even when the stock rom is working well.

The sgs2 is already fast out of the box, I don't think we will encounter any rom at all wich will give you a noticable speed difference. It's more about the features this time around, and the current roms don't really provide much features. Some nice cosmetic stuff tho.
The other thing is how many people with minor problems are those that have rooted and flashed various roms? My phone is stock and has none of the niggly problems that appear on the forums

What's the best daily for battery & performance?

Ok, so currently I have my girlfriend on the CM9 beta 1 build... and it's ok... but it just isn't quite getting the battery life she would like. So here are the priorities:
1. Need longest battery life
2. Stability is second, but most important with things like google music and youtube.
3. General quickness
We both really like CM9, but I am starting to think she is losing battery faster than normal. I would like input from folks that have tried out almost all the roms and have found the best combo that meets the order of priorities listed. I am willing to go with an additional kernel if the advice is sound and compelling.
Thanks in advance... I would really like to get her on a good daily driver.
I think most people will tell u that each device handles things differently resulting in different battery life..
That being said, I think most would agree that our cm9 is probably not the best choice if battery life is a top priority.. personally, I get the best battery life with cm7, I would recomend that, and if u start feeling saucy, throw a custom kernel on there too for undervolting with voltage control.
If she prefers something touchwiz, there's a lot of good options, try gleangb
As always, wipe data cache and dalvik in cwm before flashing her from cm9 to anything gingerbread.
Good luck!

Lulz! +1 on that. Clean gb battery life is pretty amazing too.
Miui v4 has been pretty good for me also. Miui gingerbread was some of the best battery life i ever had though.
Running aokp for the past few days, and that seems pretty damn good too. Just got it updated, supercharged, samurai'd and undervolted, so we'll see how the next couple days go.
Lots of choices. Drive em all for a day or two and see which gives you the best mileage.

Wow... thanks everyone... CleanGB it will be. Im curious as to why they have gone over a month with no updates?
I think part of it is there isn't much to update. It's a stripped down, optimized 'cleangb', not '50,000 tweaks, hacks, and new features every 5 minutes gb'.
You stop when you get it right. Certain tweaks react differently on each phone so Toadlife leaves those to the user to decide what is right for them.
Man I haven't been on a tw based ROM in ages!!

Advice for comparing all the roms we have

I'm currently using the "Jellybean Port from Desire S," and wanted to possibly venture out and try other roms. I'm mainly looking for the fastest/smoothest rom, which marshmallow says it is. I don't really care about all the bells and whistles, just speed and overall saving of battery life is what i'm mainly looking for. So I just wanted to know what you guys think.
By the way 0.0 I like the audio plugin over-heating "feature" for the jellybean port. I'm in a colder climate so it keeps my left hand nice and toasty

Fast enough for me. Turn off the animations and overclock it a little.
I've been on this ROM for like the past 2 months now, and I'm going to stay on it til my upgrade this month.
I should specify when i say "fastest" i mean lowest resource footprint, and thus faster application load/run times. At least that's what I'm assuming causes faster run times, unless there are other factors i'm unaware about.
