Hey guys, quick question - could someone tell me how the Nexus 7 is for reading magazines? Screenshots would be helpful but no worries if you can't. I'd like to be able to read mags without having to constantly double tap to zoom in and then pan around like I do on my PlayBook. I was hoping the extra pixels the N7 has over the Playbooks 1024x600 would allow me to do this. So how is it?
Cheers!
Hope this helps, popular science was free and preloaded. Used it as a example for your question.
Its a OK experience, but I'm coming from a larger tablet (iPad 2) and the smallish screen is still a feature I'm getting used too.
I included images attached but quality didn't look the same so here's outside hosted images

according to several reviews, there should also be a text only/reading mode which is much easier to read (like an ebook). see googles I/O address for N7.
Yes, that functionality does indeed work. I've attached some screenshots from Pop Sci.

Thanks for the screenshots. I was just thinking about how magazines would look on the N7. That text mode is a definite plus as well.:good:
Honestly it looks awesome.

Thanks guys that's awesome. Unfortunately I won't have access to Play Magazines because I'm in the UK but I use Zinio, and I just checked on the Play Store and it says that has a text only mode as well.
It's very very tempting, now if I can just find somewhere that stocks it...

Hey there guys,
I'm currently developing a new app for Android, called episodes.
It's very similar to "Episodes" for the iPhone. There are more than a couple I believe, all with the same idea - keeping track of your favorite TV shows. Checking out episodes summaries and when the next episodes will be aired.
If you wish to test the app, let me know about certain bugs and maybe offer some missing features, please feel free to post them here.
here's the apk: link removed. app will be available in the next couple of days on the market. check out our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=195710953789467
Here's a little preview:

Looks cool! I use sickbeard to download all of my tv shows and this does the same thing as you'r app (showing all the info) But it would be nice to see these on the go, on my mobile too!
Really cool app. I like the UI.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you using for your data? thetvdb?
No, their API is annoying. I'm using tvrage
If you could have the app interface with sickbeard it would be a lot more useful
That's not really on the feature list for now.
Thanks for the tip though.
Looks cool indeed, I have the one for the Iphone. Hope this is like it or even better!!!
Gonna give it a try as soon as my phone lands.
Very cool App!
One suggestion would be to also sghow the date of last aired episode in the overview.
I'm getting the app wrapped up right now, and doing some final bug testing.
you can catch the latest updates and screenshots on the facebook page I posted on the first post.
pbeltrami, About your suggestion, I like the idea. I think I'll incorporate that on the first update for the app - Episodes 1.0.1

App not free = app not available in my country
@dolby71: Are you still working on this app or is the project asleep?
I'm very much interested in an app to keep record of the tv shows I'm watching, but I need some kind of backup option or cloud save. Is something like this available in this app?
I don't find app here or on market.. why? some news?
Download from market.

Funny that Android market reports that App is not compatible with my Galaxy Note.
COOL! Works perfect
Thanks for the tips.
Downloaded the Galaxy 3D App.
Turn the App and view the image on the screen thru the camera
and can take a screen shot with the 3D phones displayed.
Can do the same when view the the AR images downloaded as pdf file.
Don't know how good it is when taking snap shots with it outside.
Unable to download the app from Market. Can anyone share the app please?
What is the point with this app or what does it do?
I took a pic of the website YFY posted and got this, so some kind of 3D picture?
What has this got to do with the app?
Anyway, this is how it looks:

Haha, thanks! It's quite cool as you can zoom in/out and as you said you can touch and swipe the phone in which they move.
This is basically a demo in which to show us how 3D will look on a phone?
I'm quite impressed and there is clearly a difference and even for a small portable device it's actually quite impressive.
Though it looks MUCH better in person when looking at the image this is how it looks in a screenshot & zoomed in. You will see some form of 3D.
For those of you who cannot use the app, here is how it looks:

Download the Geeksquad app. I watched him run the test in front of me.
It showed a horizontal dead spot one the upper portion of my screen.
I hate to say this guys, but the employees were aware of the problem and told me that they believe it is a hardware problem.
Don't shoot the messenger - It's what I was told.
They took it back outside of the 15 day return window and issued me a full store credit.
I'll wait and see how people like the new LG G Pad.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the apk. I just ran the test and all it let's me do is test 5 areas of the screen and multi touch in top third. Am I missing something because I don't see a full screen test.

Sorry guys, been at work.
Turn the tablet horizontal and try to drag the screen all the way to the right upwards.....Mine did nothing...
The manager even came and checked it out.....then gave me the nod - YES!!!
I have just completed the touch screen fix and it worked! I also could not complete the Greek squad test holding it horizontally. I had ghost touches, dragging issues and now my touch screen works flawlessly.

Maybe it is software..... I have no idea, just the opinion of Best Buy employees.
I hope they fix it, I'll still never buy anything from Google or ASUS - terrible service.
They ran from the problem.
If you don't have any daily issues I recommend to not try this app, I don't have any issues overall with my n7 and don't want them either.

Anybody found out how to make flash player compatibile with kitekat?
I'm looking for the answer also it's a pain its not working.
Juts noticed this. Even using the latest apk from the Adobe archive doesn't work with any browser. I guess KitKat has properly killed off flash...
I hope somebody will find a way to revert this issue. Its annoying when I cant use my device as I like ;(

Do what I do. Pester the webmasters to move on to HTML5. Its faster, more secure, and far more compatible. I've found a lot of sites (some I can't/won't repost here) through inquirires that now play video just fine through Chrome and HTML5 on the Kit-Kat ROM. If its flash games you're concerned about, well, sadly, I have no solution. I suffered similar heartbreak when I learned that Dalvik != java
Defined go stopper for me before flash works

Yeah I was hoping to be able to open some flash games like the windows tablets do and other things. In school we use lots of activities in my anatomy class to match up different body functions and parts and these walkthrough type explaining activities that require flash.

Another reason I plan on staying with 4.3.
Flash doesn't work on my N5. I don't think its worth sacrificing flash over the features of 4.4 that I'd hardly use, so just 4.3 for my N10!
I have been looking for wallpapers for my new nexus 5 and most of the ones im finding are just widescreen PC wallpapers. So, i took a bunch of images with Vertical resolutions of at least 1920 and cropped them to make great looking wallpapers. Keep checking cause I will be adding more throughout the day, il post a reply if i make any major updates.

Nice collection you've started here!
There's a wallpaper I cant seem to find. It's from the galaxy tab pro 8.4, sort of looks like a mashup of paint colors.
Although this may be because nobody has extracted them from a device yet?
