Further update: date now uncertain, may be early November, may slip back towards initial mid-November date.
FFS! 495 Gbp to euro + taxes = +/- 700€ in my country... thats almost 2x the minimum wage / salary.
Too damn expensive.
I have to agree. And we all know that there'll be an even better phone
released, less than a year later, and we'll all want that one too...
£478.99 exc VAT on 31st October at Handtech
If this phone follows the trend, there should be a big price drop in 3 - 4 months. I can wait.
This phone will be awesome. I have tablets, but I still do most of my news reading on my current 4" screen LG G2X phone. I don't know why Samsung had to market this for women. Anyways, the 1.4ghz dual core and battery capacity is probably one of the best in the whole phone industry right now.
Com'on US release...
I don't really understand why you looking for prize drops. In 4 month there is something else you want and you have to wait again Do you ever buy phones?
lol, that's why I still have an HD2 right now. In 4 months, there might be an even bigger phone than the note.

release now looking like mid November (hopefully)
Clove Uk has revised their release date to "to be confirmed" from stock expected about November 1. Clove "hopes" to ship mid November. They are waiting for Samsung to tell them when they will have the product delivered to their warehouse. It is very possible phone will be delayed so it can ship with Ice Cream on board (rumor.)
The price of a smartphone (Galaxy SII) bought outright (unlocked, expensive than phone price on contract) which includes tax and gst here in Australia is roughly 425 GBP.
At 425 GBP, the SGNote is NOT CHEAP, but I would buy it in a heartbeat, but not a penny more. The baseline for smartphone outright price has been 400-450GBP in Australia for sometime, I think its unfair to exceed that.

This ebay store will sell you a pre-order.
I'm so torn between the Note and the Nexus.
At the moment I've preordered the Nexus but I dont know... I would realy like the bigger screen and the sd-card slot on the Note.
Might end up with both...
EDIT:
And now I've both preordered. Think I'll go for the Note. I just hope that it will get ICS fast.
EDIT2:
Leaning towards getting both now =) So my wife get a shiny new phone to (but the sgs2 she have now is not to bad either)
Gonna try them both out and then I'll take the one i like most and my wife get the reject

LOL i am in the same boat as you
The Nexus is nice but I'm majorly swayed by the screen size on the Note and the stylus input.
I think most people looking at both nexus and note, Had both pre-ordered but cancelled the nexus. Only NFC and ICS missing on the note. I dont need NFC for three to five years. (might be payment method world wide). but who knows? ICS, i still think we will see that on the note sometime next year...
Brilliant short clip showing how good the Note is for video editing and annotation. This is one awesome tablet phone.

Ooh, thanks for that - nice!
1saleaday has dropped they price of the tablet down to 74.98 shipped. Better than the 89.99 its been running for the past two months.
Maybe with the price this low some developers would pick one up and start working on ICS or JB.
I remember when the nextbook 7 at biglots was 99.99 and every one jumped on it and its not half the tablet the elocity is.

Tempting... I have the original A7 (not the + model) -- I haven't quite been able to determine what the difference is between the two models though.
Any pointers on where to look (or what's different)?
There are 2 MAJOR differences.
1. Resolution bumped from 800x480 to 1024x600
2. True multi-touch (4 points)
The only downside that I can reference is the development for the tablet. With the type of hardware its pretty pitiful that we are stuck with Froyo.
However, from what I have read over @ tabletroms.com someone will be doing some development.

I looked today and my HTC One S is currently going for around £200 on auction sites. Considering the massive spec difference someone would get by spending an extra £70 and picking up a brand new Nexus 4 do you think the second hand market will be affected by it's release?
I know that if I had £200 to spend I wouldn't be looking at second hand flagship phones from other manufacturers unless they were way cheaper.

That depends on how many Nexus 4 sells worldwide. Generally Nexus devices are not as popular as the OEM flagships and google also does not push for more sales with huge marketing campaigns. That said, I believe Nexus 4 will sell much better that it's predecessors and it will have only a slight impact on the price of other phones.
Imo only in the play store markets. In other countries no, because its price will be the same as the other flagships.
Hopefully. I'm taking both Galaxy Nexus and (hopefully, if nothing major screws up) Nexus 4 back to China in December. I'm hoping to get some decent money out of my Galaxy Nexus.

Google did a pretty good job advertising the Nexus 7. I read an article somewhere that Google & ASUS were selling over 1,000,000 N7 tablets a month.
The Galaxy S3 at Best Buy went to $250 trade in down from $300 last week.
But Best Buy had a sale on the S3 last week. Plus prices drop all the time. No real reason.
I put my Gnex on eBay as soon as I saw the price of the N4. I figured that as soon as news of the N4 prices filtered down to used Gnex buyers, then it would depress the price of the phone.
The jury is still out whether it will affect non Nexus phone prices in the short term, but I'm sure that top end phones will become far cheaper over time because of this move.
So, my Gnex has now gone, and I'm back on my old Desire, at first I thought I'd gone back to the stone age, but a decent Miui based ROM sorted that out...to an extent.
Since it's currently Google Play only that have those prices, i doubt it will have any real effect on prices in general
It's sad, i was hoping we could get back to the day where iPhone was the "only smartphone" and Android was trying to gain market share, back then the prices for android highend smartphones were around 400€.
But as Android gained popularity it started jumping up to 500€, and now 600€.
It's no secret that the phones themselves cost around 200$ to make, so i'm really hoping that someone will still taking notice to Google's Prices, especially as they start expanding across europe.
As the title says, I was wondering how much the Nexus 4 would cost if I traded in my Nexus S at any store in Australia that would sell this beast.
The Nexus 4 that I want is the 16GB version which will be $400 in Australia, but could anyone give a rough estimate of the Nexus 4 price if I traded in my Nexus S for it?

Places actually trade phones here? Never noticed that... Anywho, if they did, I'd really doubt they'd give you too much off considering it's trade-in (my guess is as good as yours but don't expect any more than what you'd get by selling the Galaxy Nexus yourself). I mean take a look at game consoles, they have horrid trade-in deals and just aren't worth it unless it's really just collecting dust.
If you sold it yourself, you could probably sell one $200-$250 at the moment depending on how quickly you want it to sell. Maybe use that for an estimate on the trade-in price.

I agree to this previous post, I don't live in Australia but for us, european citizens, problematic is the same.
Google will sell the Nexus 4 for €350 including tax + approximately €10 S&H.
Some distributors are on this price, they are buying a new...new..new Nexus S without any defects €63.
Today, an average Nexus S can be sold around €150, €180 maximum.
Well for me, that's a fair price considering I'll get a lot of money for Christmas (Minimum $200) and that money + trading in Nexus S = barely any of my own money for the Nexus 4. And I know some stores that trade, otherwise, selling my Nexus S would be another option.

Hopefully it's not like an EB Games trade-in and you get $5 off the price of the Nexus 4 when you trade in six old phones and a bunch of accessories with it, too! Haha. Which store would you go to to trade it in, though? I can't think of any stores in Australia that would let me trade in my older phone for a better price on a newer one. I think Mobicity do it but they are just an online store.
My first choice is JB Hi-Fi, and because they have the SGS 3 and Nexus 7, the chances are that they'll sell the Nexus 4. If they don't do trades, I might still buy it but $400 is pretty expensive for me. I was wishing that it would be $350 like it is in America, but Australia almost always gets a more expensive price
My second choice would be at my local shopping centre and keep searching until I find the right store. If I can't find a single store that sells the Nexus 4 and accepts trades, I'll just sell my Nexus S.

I don't believe JB do trade-ins for phones (I know they do for games). And about the price thing, it's really not that much more compared to America. We have GST included in the shown price whereas they don't so you have to add their state tax (not sure on the percentage but it comes out to be pretty close).
Hmmm... I might ask JB Hi-Fi about the Nexus 4 price :/
Then my other two options are:
1. Sell my Nexus S
2. See if JB Hi-Fi (Or any other store) can do any offers

The price should be about the same every (~$400 for the 16GB version and ~$350 for the 8GB one). Anywho, good luck!
Just wondering what you all got rid of or traded in to get your n10.
I was just about to pull the trigger on an Asus Infinity but decided to go with the n10.

Didn't have to sell anything.. This will be my first tablet. I just bought the Nexus 10 on Sunday, Hopefully I get it soon with no problems, because many people seem to have issues with it. How is yours?
I sold this (minus the 500GB HDD and 8GB flash drive) for $183; the 500GB HDD for $60, and a 3TB HDD for $130, a Radeon HD 5570 GPU for $50, and some other money from somewhere else (I forget) to buy a Nexus 4 originally, but since I also had enough for a Nexus 10 at the time, and the Nexus 4 was out of stock, and since I realized I couldn't keep up with a monthly phone plan most likely, and that I wanted a bigger screen for gaming purposes, and the Nexus 10 has better specs, I decided to go with the Nexus 10
TLDR: I sold a Nexus 7 + other stuff and decided to get a Nexus 10 with the funds I got
I returned an infinity and waited for this. Soooo much happier with nexus 10.

I was just about to buy an infinity but after reading the forum nightmare stories I decided to go with the n10. I used it a bit and it was nice but laggy web browsing and other minor issues.

Also returned the infinity for this tablet.
I sold my Infinity for a hundred dollar loss just to get the Nexus 10

I sold my iPad 3 to purchase this. Literally sold the iPad for $450 and bought this for $400. And good riddance to that toy. I bought the iPad when it was hands down the best tablet available. Now with the Nexus 10, I feel like the Nexus beats it in every single category. The screen is more beautiful, its thinner, lighter, easier to hold and grip, a more capable OS. It feels more polished and I can't wait to start romming it once the roms start to come out of Alpha/Beta releases Gotta love devs, always making devices more incredible as the months go on.
I've made the jump from an iPad1 and am stunned by the improvements in screen and performance.
Sold my Xoom WiFi 32gb model after getting the Nexus 10 and configuring the homescreens near the same. Sold it to a friend who is replacing his wife's Kindle Fire with the Xoom.
Sold my Acer A500 32GB and got the N10 16GB (don't need the extra storage). Couldn't be happier.
Sold my Gtab 10.1 and got an Infinity (it's crap), returned it for an iPad 3, returned it for a Note 10.1 (nice tablet), and finally returned it for the N10.
BestBuy Premier Silver let me leave a string of open box discounts in my wake since July to get to this tablet. I love it, but have to warranty swap it due to a WiFi issue.

Returned my Note 10.1 for the Infinity. Exchanged the Infinity more than a couple times. Returned the infinity the day the N10 was officially announced.
Didn't sell anything but going to give the gf my iPad 3. Its a nice device for what it is but the whole ios ecosystem is just boring to me. I don't know how people are saying the nexus 10 has a better screen....the iPad can be brighter, represents colors better and has much better viewing angles. Hardware wise that's the only thing I'm going to miss and it's certainly not enough to hold on to it.
sold my n7 didn't want to because it was a great device and fine form factor but couldn't justify having both on my budget with the holidays coming up.
Sold my Nexus 7. Couldn't be happier and I couldn't ever see myself going back to a 7" tablet.
Also sold my N7. Too small for my aging eyes.
Actually I won an Asus Transformer Pad 300 from Android Police, and sold that unopened to get the N10. Right now I'm trying to sell the Acer a500 I was using before my nexus 10 got here.
