I think i found the reason behind my tab not booting properly, cause i always end up in the encryption failed state. The problem was whenever i install the ics rom or any rom available my tablet wasnt able to mount the /data even in cwm. Can anyone help me with this problem. TIA!

My scenario:
I updated my N1 to 2.1-update1 by applying an update.zip from the SD card. Everything worked fine for a while until a few days later I turned off my phone. On rebooting, it got stuck at the splash screen. I managed to reboot through the bootloader and got back in but have since had problems with a couple of apps force closing on startup and have been unable to send SMS. I decided that maybe I should start from scratch so rebooted into recovery mode again and wiped data and cache and reapplied the update. My phone will now not boot at all. It consistently gets stuck at the splash screen.
It's not bricked, as I can get to the bootloader and recovery menus but:
a) adb and fastboot won't recognize the phone as being connected
b) on the recovery menu I see "E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
c) when going in to the bootloader it complains about not finding PASSDIAG.ZIP
Anyone have any ideas what I can do? I can't connect via adb/fastboot so am not really sure what I can try...
Did you do a nandroid if so I would try to restore and start the update from that point.
I get an error when I go to my bootloader screen asking about passdiag.zip and passdiag.nbh but it hasn't ever caused any problems, it just complains about them. I don't get the issues with the recovery menu or USB though. Fairly sure that doesn't help you, just adding my experience in the off chance it helps someone diagnose.
I don't suppose anyone has any idea what passdiag is?
No one with any idea what passdiag is or what one might do to fix this issue?
Don't worry about passdiag.zip and passdiag.nbh. These files are the ROM dumps if i remember right from Google. Just let that pass. Is your phone unlocked running a RA recovery, or are you still at stock. If unlocked you will have to reflash whatever ROM it was you were using.
So here's how I got to having that error.
Originally I was using the stock ROM. No error.
Then I unlocked/rooted using the guide here. Error started appearing.
After that I flashed Amon-Ra's Recovery: Error still present.
Following that I flashed Cyanogen's Mod. Error still present.
I really would like to get rid of the error, even if it isn't hurting anything. I don't suppose there's a place I could get the files to push to my phone or somewhere in the phone I could tell it to stop looking for them?
Hello, I have a huge problem with my Tab 4. As you can see in the video, my Tab 4 will not go to the start screen. I have tried booting into recovery mode and tried the options in there. I installed the stock ROM, but it didn't help. Please someone help me:crying:

T530NU - Bootloop Freeze
Resurrecting this thread after over a year hoping someone is paying attention...
I have the same problem as well. I have downgraded from 5.0.2 to 4.4.2 hoping that would work. I have the exact same issue as seen in the video above. I flashed PACMAN custom ROM and GAPPS 6.0 nano last night and was able to get in and through setup, but the wifi will not work nor does it detect any nearby networks.
Looking for answers here... Corrupted partitions maybe? I have stable stock ROM's
Maybe sideload APK's to evaluate/fix the issue from the ui side - if any apps exist?

Update:
Been working on this throughout the day. I have CM14.1 installed with GAPPS 7.1.
Ran system, data, and cache partitions through change (ext4 to exFAT to ext4) and repair in TWRP 3.1.0.
I am able to run through the boot up, but now the interface is crashing about 3 minutes in and rebooting with no variances in this process.
Still no wifi and no networks showing where I know they should be...
Corrupt Data and Cache Partitions Cannot be Fixed with e2fsck
Update:
Partition repair, while working, is not fully fixing the cache and data partitions, which I believe to be the issues. I am beginning to learn the Linux environment even more now as I learn how to fix this issue
# e2fsck /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/cache is returning a percentage that is non-contiguous for the cache partition
fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk0p24 did not seem to work
This may move beyond just this thread and into its own thread as it involves troubleshooting the Android OS in general.
To any devs out there that may view this, I am looking for some direction on how best to proceed. Next step would be to re-partition manually. If there are additional tools available to be able to further investigate the partitions then I would be happy to know what they are.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Update:
Cache and data do not seem to be the issue...
I am beginning to find a lot more info on this issue and wonder if the OTA update to the tab from KK to LP caused the issues that I am seeing - no wifi or BT. Still no stock firmware bootup though I am able to get in to the interface via custom ROM's.
Now dumping modem, efs, modemst1, modemst2, fsc, fsg, and backup partitions to view information in the files.
Update:
I hate problems that fix themselves!
I pulled APNHLOS, modem, efs, modemst1, modemst2, and boot partitions for further evaluation yesterday using the dd if= of= command - no results yet. However this morning I Odin-flashed stock 4.4.2 KK to see if I could pull something from logcat before it crashed. For whatever reason, I am now running stable stock ROM with TWRP and no SU binary installed - one problem just fixed itself. Still no wifi and BT yet, though.
Yes this post is correctly dated. I've had this device a LOOOONNNGGG time.
The device has been rooted since shortly after I bought it new years ago. I've had very few problems since... which is why it's never been replaced.
I believe I have the stock ROM, sorry it's been a while.
When I start the device it gets stuck at the splash screen with the sprint logo.
I can get the device to "download mode" but I don't know what to do once there and I'm not sure I can do anything from here.
I can get the device to "android system recovery."
I know I installed TWRP when I rooted and installed the rooted ROM but when I boot to recovery it doesn't go there.
I've wiped the "cache partition" but the problem remained. I'm not sure what else to do from here and still be able to salvage data.
I'm trying to salvage the data on the internal storage. I'm pretty sure I could successfully "wipe data/ factory reset" and get it to "function" again but that's not the priority. I'm going to replace it regardless of success or failure. Data recovery is the priority here. (pictures and videos of my young children as well as less important stuff like contacts.)
I have an old laptop with an old version of ubuntu I can use or a newer one with windows 7 to work with. I mention this in case it makes this easier to help?
Thank you very much if you try to take a stab at this or refer someone that might!
Update:
So I managed to install TWRP via Odin.
I booted to this recovery and my data partition appears to be empty?
When I try to back up I get the error message "unable to mount '/data'"
I tried doing a wipe, not one of the fancy extra options ones just the regular wipe and it failed.
Any guidance will be extremely appreciated.
Edit:
So I've come to the conclusion that the data isn't accessible because of encryption and my pass code. Is there any way to enter it via recovery and access this info?
Is anybody out there?
Edit 2:
I hope this helps someone someday. I haven't solved the problem but I think I'm making progress.
First I had an old version of TWRP. I installed the latest for my device and tried backing up again. I'm not sure but I think it's working. TWRP dosen't seem to need my password for the backup. I imagine I'll just need it to access the data later.
Edit 3:
No sooner did I save the last edit and my backup failed.
Process ended with error : 255
[SOLVED]
I tried to hold the Volume and Power Button a bit longer (Reset?) and after it start again the Problem is gone now. I dont like self solving problems, maybe someone can explain to me what happends?
Hey Guys,
i have done something wrong and have no idea what but TWRP dont save changes an show me
Failed to mount /cache; /system; /data; /firmware and /oem
it feels like an soft brick and mybe u can help me to prevent this phone to become a brick.
On the reboot screen it says no Operating System installed and all Storage have an size of Zero.
I still can boot in LinageOS and it work like it should. Is this a Problem of TWRP, Filesystem or Rom?
All Solutions i tried to fix it with TWRP dont work for me so i stop it and ask people they maybe know whats wrong.
TWRP Version 3.2.3-0 , LinageOS 14.1
Sorry for my bad englsih
Thanks a lot and best regards
Siggi
Same problem, whre you able to fix it in the meantime?
Hello! Long time lurker on here but first time posting. I follow this guide to unlock bootloader and install twrp on the zc553kl. https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/how-to/zenfone-3-max-zc553kl-bootloader-unlock-t3691837
It kind of worked, and it did flash twrp. The only problem is that the twrp although launching, didnt seem to have permissions to access storage, probably due to a data encryption problem. all the storages had 0mb sizes and i couldn't do anything.
So naturally i googled my problem and tried a few methods.
Nothing seemed to work, and i ended up doing an advance wipe. That also failed and it said it didnt have access or permission to do it (something along those lines). Next day i decide to try again and now my internal storage seemed to show.
So i ended up formatting it, and while the files seem to be still there, i changed .ext4 to .ext2 and back again, and then it stopped recognizing the stock rom i still had installed. Please note that before all of this, although twrp didnt work properly, the phone still worked fine and booted into android. My problem is now the stock rom is gone, twrp says no OS installed, and i have tried my best to reinstall the stock rom, but that hasn't worked. Any ideas or help would be welcome thanks guys
