Keyboard prediction and spell correction not working - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)
My word prediction are broken. The only thing that every appears are words I've previously typed and punctuation. Under samsung keyboard settings Predictive text is on, and auto complete and spell correction are both checked under the Predictive Text settings. Does anyone know a fix? I'm rooted using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756885 with the STOCK rooted, not stripped version. Anyone know of a fix or is experiencing a similar issue? Is it not able to connect with the spell check server because of root?

I'm having the same issue. I'm on the GS3 SCH-i535 and had initially flashed the stripped version. I did attempt to flash the deodexed stock version which also experienced the same autocorrect/spellcheck symptoms. Additionally, my T9Keyboard draws the lines but does not generate input.
Each time I have restored, or flashed a new ROM, I wipe the cache, wipe the dalvik cache, and fix permissions.
I also installed ROM manager and used that to re-flash CWM. After I flashed CWM from ROM manager I am unable to mount the external SD card which is mounted in /mnt/extSdCard. When I select Advanced -> wipe dalvik cache on the yes screen I receive an error "E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]", however, when I reboot I receive a screen: "Android is upgrading X of 61" leading me to believe that the dalvik cache has been wiped.
Interestingly, when I create a backup in CWM it defaults to a date of 1970-01-03.<Current Time>, if I start the backup from ROM manager it defaults to the current date/time.
I did remove my SD card and perform a factory reset (on the stripped version), then wiped cache, dalvik cache, and fixed permissions, when the phone boots, messaging just crashes. attempting to open messaging, the app starts to open, hangs for a few seconds, and then crashes presenting the error "Unfortunately, messaging has crashed". Restoring from backup fixes the crashing messaging. Odd that a factory reset causes messaging to crash.

Did some digging and found mention of these issues here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28682782#post28682782 (Post number 421...) Seems the "root66" rom fixes the issue?

Ok, I did flash the root66 ROM and it does fix the dictionary problem, but you'll have to install root manager and strip out the bloat manually (unless someone has a better recommendation)

[Q] Stuck at Acer Screen - Need Some Help
So, my Acer is rooted and I've been running the Virtuous Galaxy 1.0.5 ROM for awhile with no issues. I decided to purchase the Titanium Backup Pro app to make a backup of my phone and tablet to Dropbox. They both backed up fine. Then all of a sudden my tablet just froze. When I reboot it just goes to the Acer screen. I have tried a reset with the pinhole, and then going into CWM and wiping data, cache and dalvik cache. When I try to load new ROMs or even the one I was running, it just hangs. Sometimes I'll get a random offset and then it will hang, and other times I get a message like: "E:\error in /sdcard/update.zip" Installation aborted. Any ideas? I believe stock for my tablet was Android 3.1 Kernel 2.6.36.3 Build Acer_A500_4.010.13_com_gen2. Also, when I wipe Dalvik cache I get the message "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]" If I continue and say yes, it does say that the cache has been wiped. All help is appreciated.
[Q] Dalvik Cache doesn't exist
I was flashing CM9 from CM7 on my Motorola Defy, botched it up intially due to a slip of my finger which led to me to Clear the cache first. But then I restarted the entire process by Clearing Data -> Installing -> Flashing Kernel and so on... But when I tried to clear the Dalvik Cache, the phone didn't delete it. It didn't give me a message that it wiped the cache, but it didn't say otherwise either. This led me to believe that the cache just didn't exist anymore. As a result, I'm unable to install apps - Says there is no memory and I need to make more. Also, everytime the phone comes on is treated as the first time. It takes me through the whole process of Setting up an account and everything. This has rendered my phone obsolete. Please help me! Thanks in advance. ~Bloo (newb) ^_^ EDIT: Solved, just flashed the stock SBF. But is that the only solution?
[Q] GT-I9505 trouble wiping and date/time
Hello, I'm trying to fix a problem for a few days now, but without any luck. I flashed CM11 using CWM 6.0.4.7, which is the latest. But for some reason there is a problem with the date & time. My whatsapp keeps telling me my date was wrong, while it was actually set right. Didn't matter if i changed it and changed it back, or put it on automatic. It keeps resetting at boot but for some reason it shows the right date. So i tried flashing another rom and i have the same problem. But then i found out i did a full wipe and to be sure i formatted System and Data (also cache and dalvik), but when i did a clean install after the wiping, i still could restore a whatsapp backup and i see all my photos which are located on my internal storage. (/storage/emulated/o). I think the wiping isn't done right or something. Does anybody know what i should do? I just want to wipe everything possible, except for CWM and then do a clean install.
[Q] Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.
I'm a root user, Titanium Backup installed and that's the second time i flash Android 5.0 and after a while i got this error. Tried factory reset, wipe data, wipe cache/dalvik and didn't worked out. Tried entering in Safe Mode and the error is persistent. Is there something i can do? I'm using GalaxyS4 Settings for Froyo~JB (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ion.setting) and with it i'm able to got into some of my settings, but the stock app doesn't work by itself. Is there some way of flashing the stock Settings app again?
Another weird thing is that my SPen does not take screenshots anymore and that only happens with Android L (5.0).
Bricked phone because of clear cache in recovery options!
I'm on a Note 3 actually, but was hoping the more populated board here would be more knowledgeable & The Samsung android recovery options should all be the same? People said the clear cache option in recovery mode was 100% safe & will speed up your system. Did it & my phone is bricked! I hit clear cache & then selected reboot & I got these messages "Process system isn't responding do you want to close it?" Then I get several more pop ups one by one "unfortunately, MTP app stopped unfortunately, Media Storage has stopped unfortunately, Settings has stopped unfortunately, Touchwiz home has stopped unfortunately, Google play services has stopped" Can't boot to menu at all & it just loops there I went back to recovery mode I have these options to choose from: -apply update from adb -apply update from external storage -wipe data/factory reset -wipe cache partition -apply update from cache WILL any of them fix the problem OTHER THAN WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET?

Click to collapse i dont think it was because of the clear cache option in recovery, something must have triggered the mass force close of all the apps. best bet is wether to factory reset the phone and if it still fails, flash stock firmware using odin.
Yeah, I eventually gave up & did a factor reset. The only thing I can think of that might have cause any problems with the clear cache is I did root the phone.
