Hi guys,
Is there any word about apt-x codec support on teh galaxy note?
Also, I've used bluetooth headset about 4 years ago and there was always a noise in the background while nothing was being played plus lots of delays on the audio (nokia N82 plus nokia BH-601 headphone)
With an good expensive headphone like the sennheiser mm 550 should I expect the same problem?
Thanks!
Note doesnt support apt-x. Still a lot of background noise in my case.

Hi,
My samsung provided headphone controls are not working. But I can use it as a headphone, thats about it. Is there a way I can debug if its s/w or h/w problem.
I tried an N8 headset and that didnt work either, but I was not sure if it supposed to or not.
i had same probs with bt headsets and the problem was the stock music apk. installed winamp and everything works. try

It is not just with music. Mic does not work as well, so can't use the headset for voice calls

I had the same problem with the Mic on my Samsung headset. Earphones worked fine, but the Mic sounded like there was a short in the wire. I know it sucks, but just bite the bullet and buy a new pair.

I guess I have to buy another set. disappointing to see such low quality standards from Samsung.
Any recommendations for headsets which work well with Android?

Just wondering..... The headphone jack on the bottom of the Nexus 7, does it support a microphone also?
If so..... what is your recommendation for ear buds and microphone combination that will plug into the jack?

Yes it does, and I've used both Ultimate Ears 500vi and Klipsch s4a with my N7. Both are mid-range ($50+), but they both had fantastic sound quality and microphone quality. If you're an audiophile though or plan on using them for music as well, the Klipsch provide clearer/more defined sound. Klipsch also has an Android app available to customize the reactions to various clicks of the built-in button on the headphones.

I attempted to use my cheap Skullcandy headphones which have a mic, but I don't think they worked. I'll have to try again in a more controlled scenario.

Which is funny since it would appear that the Nexus 7 does not have mic support via the jack after all.

It works fine for me with apple headphones.

Good stuff, but the headphone jack does not support a mic, so the mic your are using is the mic built into the top of the N7.

OK I would like a WiFi adapter to connect to my amp so I can play music from my nexus without having to plug it in, I noticed Logitech do one but its Bluetooth and want a WiFi one if they do them
Anyone doing this already ? What did you use ?
Thanks

The only way I have been able to do it is through Bluetooth. I bought a stereo Bluetooth adapter from monoprice.com and it works very well. I use Google music to stream.

I keep getting told that you lose sound quality using Bluetooth due to compression etc, is this right ?

No. Bluetooth Quality is indistinguishable from wired output, I did a lot of geeky comparison tests as am a recording engineer and believed the same as you, that BT was horrid mush. Not true!
neither could I see with analysis any difference, i couldn't hear any more importantly. From reading the actual quality is equivalent to 320/350 kbps mp3 which is CD quality with a tiny roll off above 17khz, which is **** you can't even hear if you're over 25, and there's no musical value up there I assure you. I have the Logitech one with n10 setup for my dad, all he has to do is turn BT on on the n10, it connects, then play the tunes.. all the other factors in sound quality are way more important like amp ,speakers, placement / stands, room, eq etc.

Thanks I'm going to buy it then

I recently attended a concert and took my nexus 4 along with me to take some video recordings. After playing back the recordings I have realised the sound is really distorted. From looking around i've heard its an issue with the mic gain. Could i possibly use an external mic to record through the headphone jack? If so does anyone have any recommendations as to which I should purchase? Doesn't have to be anything special just so the sound is clear and reasonably priced. Also what app will allow me to record via the headphone jack?
Thanks in advance!
Just put your finger on the microphone while recording. It will be less distorted.

I tried that and although it is less distorted its not quite as clear as I'd like it to be.
Fact: microphone camera and speaker on stock n4 sucks.

Have you heard of using the equalizer?
N7Player + equalizer settings = excellent sound over crappy Apple earpods.
Strange. I have used all S series and note series, note 3 has the best sound quality on ear buds IMO.
