stuck on ics leak a501can't flash bootloader - Acer Iconia A500

Its been like 3 weeks since i've flashed the leak thinking "hmmm" maybe getting the stock bootloader will make it easier to get the unlocked version ( i flashed the a500 leak) obviously i was wrong and since then i tried every possible way ;roll back methods , afterota, nvflash, apx flash tool but the problem is on nvflash and apx flash tool it always gets stuck on a resume mode command... what should i do ? I need seriously help thanks in advance though

Just to make it clearer, i am a rogers (tm) user in canada and my current firmware says 4.0.3 but its the leaked version also i am rooted and busyboxed... i have a windows XP computer and a samsung mirco usb cable for this device... i've tried flashing the new bootloaders since v6 but no luck has been made

Follow this guide to the letter. I had a lot of issues with this until I realized that I wasn't following the directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
I used the Blackthund3r method, it is real easy. Download all the packages you want to use. Make sure you have the USB driver loaded and a fresh reboot. Make sure you have your CPUID and use Vache's tool to get your SBK. There are a lot of steps if you miss one you are not going to get it to work. Civato's guide is the easiest I have found to follow.
Good Luck

Thanks for your help, i'm gonna try this

Well, keep an eye on the 3g drop. Remember, it's a leaked version from Acer.
Was hoping we would see a better version by now, but here's to hoping!

Haha i know you made it , i haven't noticed the 3g drop yet, it doesn't seem common, anyways goodluck on that ! I still need to figure out how to make a rom -.-

I think this one may be better as it is TF specific plus covers downgrading.

This is the guide I used and it worked fine. I wound up with a bunch of force closes after I downgraded, but I managed to be patient and get through them far enough to be able to root the device. It just took longer to get the device show up in the adb list of connected devices.
I think the force closes were related to a gmail widget that I had on my home screen, but not certain of that.
yes decided to follow that guide just trying too back stuff up with out root its tough dont want to loose my dolphin bookmarks etc but with them all being on the internal sd it gets wiped so going to back up as much as i can and root later

+1 for this guide, despite using Mac OSX so the commands deviated slightly when it came to entering them, it was so easy to follow the steps and rooted my transformer first time without a hitch. Good luck for later when you apply the hack.

Just to add not long after putting the stock rom on I visited the developer forum and saw that Prime V1.4 had been released. Have downloaded and flashed it and my TF does seem to have more zip now.

I am interested to see if any of you get a custom ROM and if you think it significantly improves performance.
At the moment, I am quite disappointed in the performance of the tablet.
Been holding off rooting due to not wanting to void warranty, and not positive about how/if can get back to stock for warranty purposes.
I want to be sure it is really worth the effort, and risk of warranty issues.

Clockworkmod recovery

Hi all. Im from the uk and have got the ATRIX on orange. I've rooted it using gingrebreak and all is good. I was just looking through rom manager and found that clockwork now has support for it. I want to install it but just need to know if it will work on my uk ATRIX, and if there's anything else I need to do like unlocking the bootloader? I've rooted and installed custom roms on my htc desire, which now runs f1 gingerbread and works great, so im not a complete noob lol. Just need a few pointers. Any help would be greeeeat. Cheers

You'll need to have an unlocked bootloader to install this CWM build.
Ahh I see lol. Do u know if the uk orange bootloader can be unlocked yet? Thanks for replying

Yes it can! You'll have to start in the Atrix Development section, and go to the sticky that starts with [PUDDING]. That's where you'll find your unlock. There are a couple of guides floating around, so make sure you follow those completely!
I shall take a look and ill keep u posted. Thanks a lot

Did this yesterday on my Telstra Atrix, bricked my phone, had to reinstall OLYEM_U4_1.4.2 and everything else from scratch, got boot error after install of CWM
Bricked? Maybe ill look some more before I commit to it. Might just wait a little longer for update then who knows. Hope ur ATRIX is well again

He didn't hard brick, which is unrecoverable. He simply soft-bricked. He might not have unlocked his bootloader properly, or messed with something.
A hard brick can only happen if you flash an OTA update with an updated bootloader, and try to flash an older SBF file. That, in turn, would require use of NVFlash to unbrick, but NVFlash requires you to have your SBK, which seems impossible to get.
He soft bricked. That means that he just can't boot into the OS, and is easily fixed by restoring via Nandroid, or using an SBF file with RSDLite.
I have an international phone (Bell) and you need to flash the bootloader sbf. the international one is called IHOP then you can continue on to flash CWM, not sure if youve already done this but if you need help let me know.

Root ics without pc

I've been looking around with not a clear answer that would work for me. if someone got some more experience with the a500 it would be great to have some of your wisdom. I wanna root and install a recovery on my ota ics a500 and I do not have my pc anymore. Anyone know of a way to do this? I know its out there somewhere. I'm thinking I have to down grade to hc. Although everytime I try I get boot verified faild... Then I gotta reflash ics. If someone got time and an answer it would be appreciated it thanks.

Sorry Mate. Simple answer. No.
If it were HC 3.1x, then you could.
With anything else, you have to have a pc.
You get boot verified failed, because probably, you are not running the right EUU. Just a guess.
You more than likely have to have a PC.
Even if you got back to HC, you still are going to need a pc to root ICS. So you may as well stay where you are now. I suppose none of your friends have a pc?

Not any more traded my lap top for a tablet for work. Works great for ny purpose but was really trying to get jb on it. Theres no way to download hc update.zip then root with gingerbreak?

Not being able to speak/read chinese I find this mildly anoying.
I have managed to root it using afterota. Many thanks.
Now I'm stuck, should I try to flash a new rom or send it back to acer.? If flashing myself a good guide would be needed.

well i wouldnt want to let acer near it after that! Been a few reports of this happening after 'repair'...
Do you have a custom recovery installed...cwm, twrp etc??
civato has a "Official Acer Stock Roms ICS Rooted" thread check it out. D/L as applicable version and put it on yr ext sd card.
Install via cwm!!!
U do have a custom recovery installed??
If not then you will need to flash the unlocked bootloader
There is a 'tool' to help the process called 'afterOTA'
Personally I prefer the manual method via nvFlash but you'll be fine with afterOTA.
You will need the following:
A PC
A good quality micro usb cable.
The Acer Drivers and adb and fastboot from the android sdk.
Drivers installed correctly
a fully charged or at least 70% battery
the flash itself takes less than 30 seconds
getting set up to do the flash successfully will take al least an hour usually more!!!! some of us have been stuck for days after 'softbricking'- i lie not!!!!!
So take your time read thru the Guides and follow the steps to the letter - good luck
Ok' I'm going in.
.....
No luck I'm affraid, I've tried everything including all the flash tools. No joy.
It won't work with nvFlash or blackthund3r
Will not boot into recovery. I get the recovery verified failed message.
So now I'm really stuck' looking like acer here I come unless anyone else has any ideas?
trying he alternate root method (blackthund3r)
I'm stuck at stage 2 uploading image. does anyone know how long this should take.
sorry to ask here but i cant post in blackthund3rs topic im a noob

Just got the Continuum, and I see Dutta didn't make a CWM recovery for it...
So I know I can Google it, and I kind of did, but is anyone willing to help me out?

No need to google, just Do not use rom manager...
And....
What build is ur continnie on?
That's exactly what I was using Lol... Well I used z4 and then SuperOneClick, the latter tells me I'm rooted, I did it like three times, because I read you have to do it twice... I have SuperUser so, I'm thinking I'm rooted, I gave this a break though, otherwise I'd have downloaded like Barnacle and tried to use that.
It's on what Samsung gave it, 2.1 Eclair, and it's slow as hell. Right now, it powers off following boot, not sure why, but I looked into Odin-ing, lots of dead links, and Windows 7 in Parallels doesn't detect it in Downloading.... Mode, so I think I need a legit PC.... I won't be revisiting this for at least a few days, no rush, but thanks for thee replies!

I suggest reading the forum. There are some different themes, mods and tweaked roms for each build level. Some are complete other not so much so reading is essential so you don't brick your phone.
Here is a good place to start. the Odin file here downloads and is what I use. Some of the links are broken if they are ask and someone should be able to fix the link or get you the file directly. (I have folders dedicated to the two builds I have worked from either ec09 or eg04).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316769
and another in case you ever decide to take the leap to eg04, the program here is essential for changing softkeys.

I have the tar file if you want me to send you it, then just go into download mode and flash it and you will have cwm.
