I took the LG2 OTA update on my Sprint GS3. Everything was working then at the end of day all of a sudden TouchWiz stopped working. Tried restarting many times with no luck and even pulled the battery out. I was not rooted when I took the update. I guess I can install another launcher like Apex for the moment but anyone else having the same issues. Any fix.

i understand this might be a known issue (radio crash after froyo update). anybody know what to do?
rooted my phone awhile ago... upgraded to Froyo a couple days ago (leaked FROYO.DJ29) and things were moving along pretty well. today while the phone was sitting inactive, it decided to go into airplane mode.
the last thing it did was try to download a google maps update.
i'm completely unable to get out of airplane mode. if i unselect it, it says "turning on wireless connections..." but never finishes that. resetting doesn't help. taking the battery out doesn't help.
in fact, the date on the phone reset to December 31, 2004.... any help would be super appreciated!!
try flashing the di18 modem file. i fixed a couple of my buddys friends epics like this.
UPDATE: i turned off my phone for an hour and when i turned it back on it was working fine.
add it to the bug list i guess if others report similar findings
This happens a few times a day on my epic....I went back to 2.1....ill wait for the official froyo release
Happened to me once over a week ago was a bad flash wiped everything again and reinstalled been running this verson since with absolutly no issues actually I find it better then 2.1 as I don't hang up on people anymore when talking on the phone.
With it being about a week since the 4.2.2 OTA update was sent out. Why would I not be getting it yet? Is it really rolling out over a weeks span?
I am stock 4.2.1, no root or anything like that.
Tried the obvious check for update, tried to "reset" google services, reboot.
Still no update.
Any suggestions?
I know I can do it manually but I am also very curious why I haven't gotten it yet.
Thanks!
Reset google services multiple times (think I did it 6-7 times before i got the notification), that worked for me.
They are always updating in batches, so it can take some weeks before you get the notification.
lol, I tried the reset again and on the first try there it was.
Hello all, my family all just got new phones. Both my mom and dad got the S4. I activated my dad's phone with no problems and everything is running great. It did not get the OTA update so it is still on 4.2.2. My mom's phone on the other hand has some issues. Right after activating and running initial stuff, I got the OTA update message, and decided to update that phone. it downloaded, rebooted, installed, and rebooted again. It seemed everything went fine.
Upon further setting up her phone, I noticed that there would be a notification about Sprint ID downloading a "Default ID" pack, and it trying to install it. But it would fail every time. Any changes to the internet connection (going from 3g to wifi or vice versa) would trigger Sprint ID to start up over again and download and fail to install. This kind of gets annoying after a while. Since my mom's phone is not rooted, I can not freeze or uninstall the Sprint ID apk. Force closing it does not help, because it starts up again when changing internet. I spent a good 30 minutes with the Sprint Chat online with no help. Even factory resetting does not fix the problem. Sprint could not help, and forwarded me to a Samsung chat person online. After 20 minutes with that person, they said that they went through all troubleshooting steps and could not help and asked me to call their hotline (which is open on Monday).
The odd thing is, according to Sprint's website, Sprint ID isn't supported on the S4, and my dad's S4 with 4.2.2 does not have it. could the 4.3 update have accidentally added Sprint ID? Is there any way to remove Sprint ID without root? Or root with 4.3, and somehow flash back to stock 4.2.2 without messing with knox? I can try going to the Sprint store tomorrow and see if they can do anything, but I would rather try alternatives first.
on the phone that's already taken the 4.3 update you cannot go back to stock 4.2.
You can however root. Then install titanium and freeze the 'sprint installer' and sprint id applications.
Just wait 'till tomorrow do not take any risks because it's your mother's phone and she wont need root. Service will flash a rom to it hope it will fix it. Have a good day

Yes, take it to Sprint and have them fix it. You did nothing wrong so it shouldn't be upu problem.

So I went to the Sprint store today, to see if I can get my mom's phone fixed. According to the technician, there is nothing they can do until Sprint pushes an update to fix this problem. The technician tried fixing a previous customers phone with the same problem, and came to this conclusion. He even said switching out the phone wont help because eventually the 4.3 update will push to that one and might glitch like this phone. I guess I will hold back on updating my dad's phone when he gets his OTA.
I have temporarily fixed the notification by turning off notifications for Sprint ID, so it wont keep on popping up, but I do not know if it will try to download in the background or not.
I heard Sprint was going to push an update to fix the Knox notification showing up when switching to wifi on the S4 and Note 3, and hope they might attach a fix to this in the update.

I just received a replacement phone that is having the same issue, and it's on 4.2.2 - has not received ota update notice. In addition, the CF Root Procedure which seems to work for most everyone is not rooting my phone.
Had regular galaxy s4 from att since it came out, never did any rooting or anything, updating to kitkat Ota when it was released and had no issues until about a week ago. I did a factory data reset because of too much junk on the phone and wanted to reorganize a bit, backed up everything using kies 3 and ever since then my data/signal cuts out randomly everyday, all day long. The more I text I noticed the more it drops, and then goes from LTE to 4g and it'll stay that way until some random amount of time, disconnect again, back to LTE once in a while but mostly be 4G. I heard of some issues with the kitkat update causing various issues like this but don't understand how a simple factory reset and restore screwed it all up or if it's even that. Tried full format, reflashing entire stock firmware and has done absolutely nothing for remedying the problem. Is it possible it's a sim card issue?

I have been having the same problems since I took an OTA update. LTE is very intermittent in places I know it is available and I randomly lose my cell connection for brief periods, which is a huge pain for SMS. I just flashed NB1 with ODIN and everything worked for the brief time before I updated to NC1 (LTE, no connection drop). When I updated to NC1 I started experiencing problems again. I subsequently tried flashing back to the NB1 modem to no avail
I tried ATT support at one point and they reset some stuff on their end (a while ago so I don't remember what) but that did nothing.
Anyone with any insight here would be my hero. This has been plaguing me since december.
Update: Tried re-flashing NC1 modem twice via ODIN with manual reboot. Still no LTE, not sure about connection drops yet.
Went to att store yesterday, thought maybe bad sim card, they replaced it and problem still persists... Looks like I'm getting the note 4 next month cause this is driving me crazy, so I guess I just need to put up with it until then.

+2 to this issue. My wife and I both have the same problem as you've described, and it's gotten progressively worse with time. The worst part is that the phone seems to think that cellular connectivity is still there as I still have bars. However, data, phone and text capabilities are all dead. The only fix is a reboot, and it's short lived.
I've read on another forum that disabling 3G and 4G eliminates the problem, but then you're stuck with basically no mobile data...
Anyone with advice, I'm willing to experiment!!!
It's hard to believe no one else is seeing this problem, or attempting to resolve it...
Wiped x3, flashed MDB mode and Odin'd back to stock MDB ROM. Let sit for an hour, then flashed back to stock NC1 ROM & Modem. Modem hang in less than a day...anyone else have any ideas how to fix these modem hangs? I don't have any ideas left.
Got the same problem. Mine started happening on MK2, so I updated to NB1 then immediately NC1. No change at all. I was concerned that it was because I'd rooted and was running Xposed framework and a bunch of modules. I was about to flashback to stock, but after reading some of you folks issues, I won't bother.
Looks like an upgrade sooner than later is in order.
My LG G2 is randomly rebooting. The phone is stock. I've performed a factory reset and after a couple of hours it just randomly crashed and rebooted.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I've had the same thing happen over the past few days. I restored all the way back to stock unrooted and still have random reboots. Wondering if it could be a recent framework update - or maybe battery related? I've had my G2 for 18 months with no trouble up until the last week.
same thing happened a few weeks ago to my Wifes Verizon G2. They sent her a new one and within a week or so it was doing the same thing. Random shut downs, reboots and lockups. Sometimes even doing a simulated battery pull would not restore it unless we pulled the sim card first. Got the lollipop update and still had the problem so we took it back to Verizon and they replaced it again. First replacement was a refurb, second was a brand new phone. No explanation as to what was the cause.
