Arduino as bus pirate - Hardware Hacking General

Hi guys hopefully this is in the right place.
I have recently purchased my self an arduino. Now my question is , is there anyway that i can use the arduino as an alternative to a bus pirate.
I am sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question but i am a noob to hardware hacking side of things and trying to save myself a bit of cash.
Thanks in advance guys.

Its not a full replacement, but you can use UART by programming it as such.

Thanks for that. As a noob to this is there any tutorials or anything you can recommend that would help me with this.

Half way down the OP, Adam has some instructions for this.

Arduino CANBUS shield
You may need $11.9 Arduino shield CANBUS from elecfreaks store.

USB HDD for WM6?

does anybody know where can i download USB HDD for WM6?
Same place as you can download a copy of Kristin Kreuk?
I assume you want a driver. Its dependant on your device: does it say it supports USB Host or USB2Go? If it doesn't then no driver will enable you to connect a USB HD, because the hardware isn't there.
Noob who doesn't research. Doesn't even write down device. Hermes one can only assume.
Just asks question and hopes for everyone to drop everything rush to his aid.

hi Ward! im using dopod 838 pro here.. do you think it would work with my device?
i need windows mobile 6 for my treo 700wx
As the Hermes does not have USB-to-Go, this is a non-starter for you. The closest you will probably be able to get is this:
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/consumer_electronics/DAVE/
Hell if I know where to buy one, though.

I dunno, man. It's really tough to criticize this guy, imo. The OP didn't take the time to even ask a coherent question. Why should anyone else take the time to give a coherent answer?

All the best...wish someone can teach you...But please don't open another thread to ask for help....
This kind of threads already repeated many times...
the others are kinda saying that if you have to ask, then you just aren't ready to do it
its like asking someone about how to repair cars or build your first computer...no simple set of tools and a tutorial will get you anywhere

Agree with you...If I provide you all the tools and ask you to repair a sport car. It seems impossible...

Hmm, I built my first computer by looking inside another one, wasn't hard at all.
nkos719, knowing how to search for information fast and efficiently is one of the most important assets of a developer. Make the search function your most important tool and you will progress fast.
I looked everywhere but the only tool I found was the Coffee Shop kitchen v1 but I cannot open the files included in the rar file.
That's because it only works on Linux systems..
If you do not have access to an Linux environment, better forget ROM development for Android.

Putting the hardware is the easy part! I was doing that for my father when I was 7/8! Only now than Im turning 18 have I learnt to make a flawlessly working computer!
I agree with everyone else here...
Noone can give you the answer you want.
It took me months of hard work, with no help from anyone else but text books to be able to write java for android.
Thats your best hope.
Good luck though, Keep at it! Its worth it in the end.

Stratosphere II (SCH-I415) Teardown/Analysis

So, there's no Strat II forum, so I hope this is the right place. For those interested, I did a teardown and analysis of the chips on the Strat II mainboard.
jdshewey.blogspot.com/2013/09/stratosphere-ii-sch-i415-teardown.html
If anyone has some tips on getting a USB jig to work with this thing or UnBrickable mod, I would be much obliged. Otherwise, it's a new board for me

Just wanted to say thanks for the tear down and corresponding link! As you know, there is VERY little development going on for our device and I'd love to hear anything else you may have to contribute on the subject, including if and how you may have managed to unbrick. Good luck!

Well, I'm not unbricked yet. I did find this thread the other day:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856327
Since we know the CPU on the Strat II is the MSM8960, this becomes VERY useful. I ordered a replacement main board the other day, so once it arrives I am going to run dmesg on it to find out if the USB controller supports the Jig. If so, it probably means we have the ICS bootloader (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402286). We'll find out when it gets here!
Unroot?
Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to unroot. I rooted with system.img.ext4, but now lost ability for wifi and bluetooth. In addition, I tried uninstalling something (system ui or something like that) and now lost the status (notification) bar at the top.
Is there a way to get it back to original image/rom? Please let me know. Thanks.

Writing a more detailed question, like telling us what Oscam is, would help you a lot!

It is an odd ball. I'm sure you searched first and found nothing applicable here, so asking the question.
With your list of wants, you might consider unskilling to figure out how to do it, if it is possible on your device or cut your losses and buy a more common type of device having plenty of info here - after reading the forums.
For me it looks like the wrong decision to buy this unit.
It looks like one of these cheapo T3 units.
Some more information may be in one of these threads: https://forum.xda-developers.com/se...c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=4267&o=relevance
