[Q] Battery temperature on CM9 - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks... i have a Defy with bayer module. I have been tried CM9 builds from Eppy and Quarks and i have same problem: battery temperature on normal use it's 40 degrees.
I have been installed CM9 from 0 ( wipe data/factory reset ....) it's stock vsel settings, deep sleep it's working fine but my phone is heating.
Any hint?
P.S: what is your battery temperature on CM9?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for asking! My defy+ reaches 43 degrees easily, and I'm getting kinda worried. Is it the GPU which heats up because of HWA? Battery life decreases if it gets hot, no?

no fix for this issue?

Its normal for the battery to get hot to 40-42 deg..
Depending on the environment you use it in..

normal use, no other apps installed , only CM9 with default vsel settings.

Battery temp rise with tasks that consume battery.
Music/Video player, Cell Radio etc.
While if you just keep it idle and still see the rise in temp then that is not normal.

sometimes it,s higher than 43 degrees, but seems OK for Defy+.
dont worry about it!~

I have it too. No help so far.
Download the app "battery calibration" from the market, and follow the instructions in the app.
No use man tried all the things recommended battery savers ,calibration ,stopping services blah blah .... etc .I be live is time to say goodbye to this rom and return to plain old Eclair. It is no fun to worry when the battery will go flat on me!
Set min CPU to 19 MHz (only in custom kernels)
No lag, reboot, etc at all.
i feel also, my x8 got faster battery drain...any solution about that ?
did u guys try wiping the battery stats in CWM??? it usually helps. i had battery drains everytime i newly installed gingerdx.
Some of the tips to save your battery i learnt overtime in XDA posts thanks to those threads.. sry i dont remember the exact ones
1) Disable Haptic Feed back. ( The phone vibrates during certain UI interactions and hard button presses)
2) Keep your phone's brightness low(less than 30% if possible). If your phone has a Light Sensor, then enable Auto Brightness so that your screen's brightness changes according to to your surroundings light levels
3) Download RAM manager(requires root, if you haven't rooted your phone check out here) and keep your RAM free soa as to avoid many apps running uselessly. You can check out about RAM Manager here and download it.
4) Use Juice Defender Battery saver. This app does a neat job and really saves your battery life.
I use a Sony Ericsson W8 for now and I get a battery life of roughly three days with moderate use!
To know more about Juice Defender and to download it see here.
5) Charge your phone occasionally to enhance your battery life.
6) If you use a Custom ROM and Custom Kernel you can make use of Undervolt modules.
7) Use SET CPU (requires root, if you haven't rooted your phone check out here) to underclock your mobile processor when your phone is not in genuine use.
8) Apps like Facebook for Android, Music etc occupy your RAM even after you close them. They run as an actual background process rather than a Cache Background Process.
So goto Settings -> Applications -> Running Services to close them manually(This frees more RAM as well as increases your battery life)
9) This one is for rooted phones with Clockworkmod Recovery or xRecovery. In case you face an abnormal battery drain try this. Charge your phone to 100% and reboot your phoneto CWM menu or xRecovery menu and select advanced and Wipe battery stats alone and reboot and charge your phone for another ten minutes and Voila! your phone battery would last longer than it normally did!!!
10) Uninstall unused applications so as to prevent battery drain.
Dont forget to hit the thanks button

Hello Guys, I may have figured out the battery drain problem. I was previously using Froyobread on my W8. I decided to upgrade it to GDX so I flashed it.
Before flashing, my battery was at 25-27%...Right after flashing though, I noticed that it went up to 46%??? (My phone was not plugged through USB or charger during update process)
Could this be the reason for the so-called battery drain issue? Meaning the phone "thinks" its fully charged even if its not?

u better wipe the battery stats after u install a custom rom like GDX ..... charging the phone to 100 percent and then wiping the battery stats keeps the phone in a stable battery condition and there wont be battery drains.....
Okay, so I noticed that the batt drain was unacceptable the first time I installed gdx (it ate like 2% every 5min on standby) so I read all the advices here and did my own combination.
Heres what I did...
I switched back to froyobread then fully charged the phone. I then reset the bat stats thru CWM then charged the phone again. I did this like 3x coz every time I reset the stats, it would drop 5-8%...after that, I then installed GDX and once again, fully charged it the wiped stats thru CWM and using battery calibration. After that, I noticed a big change in bat life. Its now about 12hrs running under normal usage (a few calls, sms and some wifi), the batt is still at 88%...whereas before, it would have been around 30ish already when I was running froyo.
Could it be that GDX jumbles up the numbers when it is installed on phones with bad battery stats?
Just sharing my experiences...
OT: GDX rocks!

You can try to calibrate your Battery, download it completely, and load it 100%(leave it connected to the load about two hours after the maximum capacity). That should fix the problem.
You can try another rom otherwhise newest and see if the same, our hd2 is not designed to run android, and the battery is spent faster.
Finally also there exists the case of which the battery that you have bought (if it is not original of HTC) could give less performance.

Just checking, you're taking these readings immediately after waking the phone from standby right? Everything else you're doing seems to be perfectly fine and since you're using a NAND ROM I can rule out a problem I once had with some SD builds where the drain would rise to 61 mA.

This was the fix but I very strongly doubt it would work. The type of battery shouldn't make a difference but I was using the stock one. I couldn't consistently get 3mA but at the same time it was never more than 6 and usually on 4 (or 2 in airplane mode).

[Q] Lag and battery problems.

I am using auroraspv3ce final.
With most of time in sleep with wifi, it goes 8-9 hours.
If i use for example twitter facebook, it goes maximum 4-5 hours.
And mostly applications stop or lag so ihave to stop activity. I am using automemory ptimizer in aggressive mode (100 mb free) but still i have this problem.
For example when someonecalls me, 2-3 seconds waiting, i can see the person name. It shows number first.
What applications do you suggetst or what should i do?
I want to do tests memroy and battery tests to see if something is wrong. How?
I have battery problem too is normal not that much. Did you try to reduce clock speed governor? Interactive is good. Try and report.

Yes of course. Go to menu and run application No-frills CPU control. For example select 806 Mhz for Max.clock and 245 Mhz for Min. clock. Governor you can choose Interactive.

I did, it success but what is that for? To reduce battery? It seems now fast, opening apps, closing.
Yes it's for reduce battery. Namely if you don't play games (like me) that clock is perfect for that purpose. Interactive governor is good too mainly if you don't always need screen on aka idle.
You can test others clock for min and max but that governor is excellent.
so eeez
best way to improve battery live is propper calibration
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
it needs root.
best way to calibrate battery is fully charge then unplug restart device plug in charge till 100% and do it again over and over for 3 times then... calibrate battery
fully discharge and charge again till 100 w/o breaks
also update your soft to soon coming v6 of auroraSP
hope i helpd
Battery Drain Wifi
I have done calibrations and changed clock speeds to no avail, Wifi really chews battery on most ROMs. e.g. Fully charged at 8pm and completely dead when i wake up the next morning.
Might simply be a case of new battery, does poor battery affect phone performance?

Yes your battery is dead or almost it's not normal take out so fast
.
You can buy this battery http://www.bigupbattery.com/T-Mobile-HB4F1-Pulse-Battery-p/bupb1694.htm is good but don't except to be perfect. I have that and phone can be 1,5 2 days without charging.

nexus 4 weird battery drain!!!

i changed the phones battery i noticed that it is acting weird. i fully charged the phone and this morning i took the charger out and in 30 minutes without touching it it dropped to 95% and from 7 am until 4 am the battery is now at 26% without even touching it. what happens is when i look at it it says that is still 95 but then when i go to settings/battery then it changed to 26 out of nowhere. i tried putting the old battery but still no go.i tried installing a custom rom and kernel and i even tried 4.2.2 stock and 4.3 stock and even changing radio and i looked online for help but same thing happens. i dont know whether is a battery problem or a software or hardware problem. i really need the phone working and i was wondering if someone had the same problem and also if you used to charge the phone with a wireless charging station because i saw something about using it and then not getting enough power from stock charger. i bought it on ebay and the previous owner had a wireless charging if it helps and he told me a new battery would fix the blinking red light of death. any fixes for this? here is the video of the weird battery problem and it is on airplane mode and safe mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlFqagJ2v-k here is another video of how slow the device detects the battery drain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Blz68xgQcDU
Install the following app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
You can find a free version that works just as great but I personally like this. Charge to 100% then just use it normally. After it drains, open up the app and see what wakelocks there are. You can Google them and it'll tell you what to disable or uninstall from there

I have a problem like yours... during the night my phone drain 10-15% of the battery in airplane mode... i've tried to install stock rom, clean install of cm11, some kernels, UV and UC... nothing works...
Last night i went to sleep with 93%, after 8 hours i had 93% but after 5-6 seconds it dropped to 81%.... no sync, airplane mode, greenify on all apps...
I've also bought a new battery... nothing to do... it can be can hardware problem?
Thanks

Well the graph has started from when the phone was at 1.2Ghz... The battery life just doesn't get worse.. Its the same with 1.2 and 1.9.. Just some minor differences.. There is less heat and low performance on 1.2 and on 1.9 the phone heats up quite a bit but the performance also increases considerable.. But it doesn't seem to affect battery life..
Vikram: Firstly, its bad manners to hijack someone else's thread. You should start your own if you have a question.
It's hard to say if it affects a battery life, because your graph is over the span of two days. One single charge and discharge cycle is sufficient to demonstrate any issues. In any case, it may be unrelated to your overclocked processor, I would install the wake lock detector app and start from there.

U8800 battery problem

Im using dzo's Aurora ICS rom and battery life is very bad.
Im forced to charge my phone 2-3 times a day
I tried all kind of battery calibrations, and changed my battery...still nothing.
I turned off auto syncs and gps.
If i put my screen brightness to 100% and watch some youtube videos battery will go from 100% to 80% very fast...like in 15-20 minutes..
in SetCPU i have max 768 and min 480 (smartass mode)
please help me, what should i do, or suggest any good rom with good battery life..
Thank You!
