Go launcher lagging. - Epic 4G General

So I've been using cm9 for like 2 weeks along with go launcher. And I always noticed it being slow and always lagging and not smooth at all. So today I went back to thunderhawk and was amazed of how quick it was and was just amazed by it until I restored go launcher and I ended up with the same performance as I had on cm9 or even worseee. So I uninstalled it and wiped cache and dalvic and did a fresh install off the market and started to customize it and noticed that the more settings I change and the more apps I add to the homescreen the worse and worse it became.
I really don't even have all that much things. Just 3 pages, 3 widgets, 4 apps, and 4 bookmark shortcuts. And with only those it is very slow.
So I'm using tw launcher now and the whole ROM is amazing now.
Anyone notice this with go launcher? Anyone know any similar launcher that doesn't lag? What I'm looking for is the ability to custom choose icons from gallery, a scrollable dock, and some cool transition animations for homescreens + app drawer.
I know some may have these like adw launcher and launcher pro but I wanna see what you guys think is the best out of them all cuz I know there is some that I don't even know about.

That's funny Marcus. But also true.
Try one of the newer ICS based launchers.
I recommend Apex. It works well and has most of the features that Go Launcher has.

Nova and Apex are very smooth.

I will try one of the ones recommended and see what happens.
But isn't nova not very customizable? Or at least I don't think I can change the icons in it can I?

Nova is "very" customizable and does support custom icons. Nova and Apex are right on the same level, and are both worth purchasing the licensed features. On Apex I randomly get lag in the app drawer, though. So I have since stuck with Nova since it's been flawless for me.

Well Apex is the same guy who made LauncherPro.
But i actually like NOVA better customization and barely any lag whatsoever.
With any lag issues that i have its because i'm using conservative for the cpu governor instead of OnDemand.
But both are very great and as well worth the money.

Forgot to mention that I am currently on a tw ROM so I need a launcher for tw until I go back to cm9 lol.

ADW will be your go to launcher then. Only other good one for Touchwiz. At least customization wise.

Holo is slightly more updated for GB devices. It works for GB, ICS, and Jellybean. Icons can be changed. Small footprint is why I switched. Go doesn't work as well for our phones as it does newer models, which it runs lag free... even tho it 'sends your data to china'... Then I hope Chow Lung doesn't call my sister...

got tired of the constant FC with LauncherPro Plus...uninstalled yet again and back to ADWLauncher
Looks like I'll be the odd man and say that I use the stock launcher. And I'm coming from using LauncherPro for two and a half weeks. Had a couple black screen issues and while that wasn't the reason why I switched back to stock, I wanted that stock feeling again. You can never go wrong with stock launcher.
And I can tell the same story with the web browser. I eventually came back to the stock browser after using Dolphin HD for a few weeks.

I'm using 7 screens and customized everything...working with swipes, and custom shortcuts. I have designated my screens for specific functions...dev, media, schedules, main screen, news, twitter/facebook, app folders....this setup works very well for me, as seldom have to get to app drawer and search for the app that I want.
Stock, was a bit boring, and adw, was ok...no real distinction from lp oyher than the ability to define themes....I guess I can live without them.

I've used both and I prefer to use LauncherPro Plus because I like to customize my phone a lot. I like the fact that you can adjust the size of widgets, customize icons on the dock, and the home button (which is customizable) when on the home screen shows you different desktops (reminds me of my Macbook). The last one I'm not sure if stock does or not.

Good launchers to try are:
1. Launcherpro, lots of good feature
2. Adw launcher, free and lots of good features, even more for paid version
3. Go launcher ex, somewhere inbetween launcherpro and adw pro. And completly free
4. Nemus launcher, a interesting very fast and stable launcher
5. Claystone launcher, has a lot of odd, yet good features, just try it
And as for netfront, beyond just being rooted, what rom are you running?
ADW or Launcher 7
ADW Launcher! Or Zeam Launcher if you like slim.
Launcher 7 if you like the seven+ project

what features did you like in all the launchers you've used? For the longest, I used ADW. Lot's of options and feature rich. Launcher pro is great but I preferred ADW's dockbar. Zeam is also great bec. it's simple and very minimal...
The one thing I missed from Sense was the different scenes. Instead, I use the Launcher Pro for work/home. I use ADW launcher for running/biking. I use homeswitcher to go back and forth. Also will occasionally switch to slidescreen and netfront from when out at night.

nova launcher prime is best/fastest imo
I'll talk for my very own self here. But I think ADW Launcher EX is the best of them.

Am I missing something? This is a custom rom, not a launcher? Thought we were comparing launchers?
I use Nova too.. Been using it a long time but I also bought and tried many of the others too. I just wanted something light that has some decent features. I may look around at some others at some point..
Regarding the rom, I just wanted to give oy done time seeing as the nex 4 is so new. I figure in another few weeks I will start trying some roms depending on what improvements they are showing with battery life and performance and mainly stability.

after using CM trebuchet launcher...I couldn't use TW for long. Nova launcher for now I guess. Black bar is fine with me... lol
It was 35 seconds after setup that TW went bye bye and Nova prime went instead. How can people work with this awful TW launcher ? Never liked it. Moved from S2 to S4 and TW on the S2 was worse. black notification bar is OK.
Other than that I love Samsung- phone , series9 laptop, Desktop wireless screen and TV. They know their sh*t with hardware, but as far as software, not my cup of tea.
There's an app called Super status bar that may alleviate that issue but I haven't played with it yet

You can maintain the transparent notification if you decompile the SystemUI.apk, look for res/values/drawables.xml, and change the status bar background to "000000." (The first numbers are the opacity of the status bar, so you can set them to whatever you want in hexadecimal if you want just a little shade so you can see white icons on white background)
(Again, I added a little bit of shade for my icons- this is set to 230000. If you set it to 000000, it'll be completely invisible)

Nova beta was just updated to retain the Galaxy S4 transparent notification bar. Make sure Show Shadow is unchecked under Nova Settings-Desktop. Works great!
FYI - it tends to come back sometimes when exiting apps. Just open and exit the app drawer and it goes away.

Are you running 2.1 beta 1 and unchecked the show shadow setting? Working great here.

Ahh, thought that Nova had auto updated to the latest version, which would have been the beta you were talking about, but I'm still on the stable 2.0.2 it seems.... well, once they figure out what the bugs are with having to go back and re-disable Show Shadow like you were saying, they'll put it through to a stable version - I'm not too concerned right now, I'd just like to be able to play with the notification bar to see if the theming we're working on looks alright on a transparent bar!
Yeah, it's a little buggy, but no need to go and check/uncheck. Just open and close the app drawer to get the transparency back. I'm sure they'll work it out. The Dev responded to my question about this in about 15 minutes. Very responsive.

I will wait for full release. The current Beta is still choppy.

Really. I haven't noticed anything that would keep me from using it.
Anyone have ideas on how to get the transparent notification bar on the lockscreen?
