[Q] Low volume of internal and loudspeaker - Desire HD General

A year ago my DHD got wet in the rain, i switched it off, dried and it was working fine. After a week or so the volume button stopped working (only reduction) and since then the volume of the internal speaker and loudspeaker has deteriorated. So much so that in a public place I can't hear a thing when on a call with the internal speaker and i have to use the loudspeaker or a headset.
Anything I can do about this, is it repairable? Or i gotta live with this problem?
Thanks
Luke

Buy htc one x. It dosent pay itself to repair something in desire hd anymore. It will cost more than the whole phone. And no I don't think there is any easy fix. U just have to change the speakers.

Big upsetting problem with speaker and headset

Guys as you may all know i got my desire hd yesterday. Now my problem is that i was listening to music fine. All of a sudden the music stopped playing and started again however there was no sound. So i tried three other earphones. Still no luck. I then also realised that the speaker doesnt work. No audio at all, music or ringtones. When in a call and i put the speaker on i can hear through it. When i plug in a handsfree or even my mw600 i get nothing. What should i do?

Hey,
Was this an upgrade from a Carrier or a SIM free from a reseller? Either way I would take it back and mention the Sale of Goods Act and ask them to kindly swap out the unit for you. If it's faulty within the first 28 days you are entitled to an exchange.
Hope this helps
It was bought from a reseller. The guy is meant be my mate lol. I mean since i got the phone i just rooted it and installed volume boost because the volume was so low

No, it's no need to swap the phone, its just happens like that with stock rom. I had the same thing few times, a single restart will get back the sound for few weeks.

It's just a bug in the software. i used to have it occasionally on Froyo, but since i upgraded to Gingerbread it seems to have been fixed
Came across this proble today, on stock ROM 2.2.1 , still waiting for Gingerbread here in India.
Hope this gets resolved, its really bugging, requires me to restart phone everytime to solve this and happening quite a lot while listening to music.
To fix this I installed android revolution hd rom

Calls sound "far away"

My wife's having an issue where calls through the earpiece are hard to hear. You can hear an ambient sort of noise which sounds like its at normal volume but callers on the other end sound very quiet. She has resorted to putting every call on speaker to hear. Her mt4g is stock, non-modified/rooted. Any idea what the problem could be, or what I could try fix it? I tried searching, but the search on the mobile app isn't as easy to use as the full site.
Thanks!

Well this should be in Q&A but it sounds like hardware. Has she dropped in water or any other liquid? If not and you bought from tmo you should have a warranty to cover a replacement

I bought it 2nd hand a month ago, so no chance of warranty replacement through tmo. Was hoping there'd be a fix available without having to wipe the phone. The water indicator is still white and there doesn't seem to be any physical damage.

Speaker broken?

Has anyone had any problems with their speaker going out? Mine is starting to have that annoying vibrating noise when in a call, almost as if the speaker has come loose.
Just curious if anyone else has had this issue.
As a matter of fact I just got my rear speaker replaced Sat. Only took em 5 min. Mine sounded like crap. Staticy as hell before.

this is actually the front speaker, so it gets that extremely annoying sound when trying to hear what someone is saying. I called up Sprint and after convincing them that I live too far from a repair center, they're sending me another phone this week for nothing.
Haha I blew my back speaker blasting music in power amp with the eq set to make it REALLY loud... Were did u get it replaced
No I'm not using Tapatalk... I'm using the XDA Premium app, cause I got balls.

A Sprint repair center can replace your rear speaker

was my earpiece speaker, not the rear speaker. And I didn't want it fixed, I wanted a new phone. I told them I lived too far from the repair center to go, so they sent me a new phone

Headphones

OK so I work as a dish network technician. Sometimes I hook up my headphones to my glacier to listen to some music and run it through my shirt so as for them to not get pulled while working on the ladder and all that. What do you guys think would be the best an easiest way toblisten to my music? How I'm doing it or are there any wireless solutions.. any help is a appreciated.

Assuming you mean access to the music media and not e.g. wireless headphones, if in the USA, try Google Music and mark songs for offline while you're on WiFi, so it won't use up data. Otherwise, I woukd suggest a large memory card.

There is this one Bluetooth+ wireless headphones, at radioshack. I wanna say by Samsung, really nice set. The headphones plug into the Bluetooth, then the headset clips on to your shirt. The earbuds are really strong too,I used them at my work for a while, very nice sound. The price I wanna say is around 60-80, can't remember.

I have to vote for Bluetooth headphones as well. I've tried two pairs: Motorola S9s, and Rocketfish RF-MAB2. The S9s were not worth what I paid for them. The sound quality was ok at best, the earbuds uncomfortable, and the battery life was not great. Their top selling point (for me, anyways) was that they were sweatproof. As I run and work out a lot, I was really looking forward to no more tangles. Turns out, they are not sweatproof. After about 3 weeks of workouts, they crapped out. The controls became unresponsive; I couldn't even get the power button working to turn them off. And I lost my receipt, so there went any replacement.
Did some research and took a shot at the Rocketfish RF-MAB2s. They are absolutely fantastic and better than the S9s in every aspect. Much more comfortable, the sound quality is fantastic, and the battery life is pretty much as advertised. The only drawback is that they are not specifically advertised as being sweatproof. However, I've been using them for over 3 months with no problems whatsoever. As a precaution, I wipe them whenever I feel they might start getting wet, and I bought a few of these covers to make sure sweat doesn't get into the charging port.
Bluetooth works great for me. Search Ebay and you can find a bunch. make sure it's the ones that can transfer media (music), not the ones that are used for calls.
Awesome thanks guys will try some out and let you guys know which ones worked great...I doubt here is but there wouldn't be like just a one eared headphone so I an just listen to music in one ear would there??

Personally, I use the Jabra BT-3030 dogtag adapter. It let's you use the headphones of your choice. I do the same thing with tucking the wires under my shirt. The device is great, streams music and takes calls. There is a Mic built into the top of the device. it has all the music controls and they work as expected, has its own independent volume control too. You can even use it as a remote control if you plug another cord into the phone's jack. Pretty cool if you hook up to a stereo and feel like being lazy.
I prefer in ear buds, so this was the best solution for me. You can find it for $20-30 online.

I used to have an eBay Bluetooth headset that played music through the speaker when connected to my computer, but not on my phone. I think in order for your phone to play music through it, it has to recognize it as a media receiver and most single earpiece sets will only receive call audio.

Volume is WAY too...

Quiet :-( on some roms, I can't hardly hear anything with the volume all the way up and holding it to my ear, other roms are better, but still not as loud as it used to be before I diverted from stock. I've tried to flash my stock backup and it was loud as ever until I hit the volume controls, then it got half as loud, but still at max volume.
I have tried volume+, it didn't do jack but distort everything, and my luck seems a tad better on sense roms (which is not a problem at all, I <3 me some sense).
Is there anything in the build.prop that I can tweak to get that burst of loud at the first play on a new rom? Or is it just....well, my luck, to say the least that I have a **** speaker?

If your talking about an AOKP ROM there was a problem with their build 39... Build 40 fixes those audio problems based on their changelog
if your talking about a volume problem based on a port from the desire family they usee low audio files than we do.

Even on your rom that was supposed to be wake the neighbors loud :-( the ones that are desire based aren't too bad, but even the sensation ports were quiet. I'm beginning to wonder if its my phone :-(

Sounds like it is your phone. As a last resort you could try flashing a PD15IMG. If it doesn't work on stock, it's not going to work.

I have an issue with a belkin bluetooth car receiver that I'm impossible to change the call volume. Media volume works great. I don't know if it's an incompatibility with android or the device is defective. Tried with 2 other android smartphones (motorola) and had the same issue. They were running cm7. Was thinking it was a driver issue and tried changing to another brand.
But only with an iphone 3g I could control volume. All android smartphone I get a very very loud volume and it's impossible to use.

Is there any code that's shared between phones, like inside phone.apk. Maybe there's a solution?
