No binaries until OTA though, I'm very bummed.

So we can try the Jelly Beam before its OTA of Nexus S?!!

We’re releasing Android 4.1 in AOSP today.
The name of the tagged release is android-4.1.1_r1.
The name of the development branch is jb-dev.
We recommend that you create new clients, even if you’re working in the master branch. It’ll make your clients smaller and faster to sync.
Proprietary binaries are available for Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. Nexus S and Xoom will follow.
JBQ, on behalf of the entire Android team at Google.

Nope, they will be there after the OTA is out.

Wrong post.

Honestly, I don't like JellyBean so far. Voice Search doesn't work, and it is totally not as smooth as butter (if you know what I mean).
I'll wait till the Over The Air update, until then, I use the default ROM.

You can't be serious champ? It's a SDK. I never knew of any SDK running smoothly on any device. It the opposite of everything you said on the Galaxy Nexus.

One of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read....and I've read quite a few on XDA....
It's not that you don't like Jellybean....it's that you don't like the specific ROM(s) you've tried...the devs are doing some impressive stuff, show some respect....

Ok guys. I didn't mean that it was a piece of ****. Not at all, it was amazing to have some future in my hands. I really appreciate the the work;-)

you know steven676's rom is almost complete, right? I ported many patches from his rom (with indirect's rom as a base) and I've read almost his entire thread. I don't have a NS3G to test it, but I'm sure since we have the same hardware, mostly, his can't be any less smooth than mine is....and mine is BUTTERY smooth...and lightning fast!!

Sdk ports are always marginal at best. We can't really make a decision until official is out. Plus our phones are seriously lacking in the specs department at this point so I'm sure it runs better on something more modern.

fully agree with u, and yet i still like JB very much.
i can already say that for me personally JB is 10 times better than ICS, and i tried most of the ICS roms.
Love butter smooth animations, speed, new camera,
new notifications [although would be much better if u could take a peak with one finger not 2, cuz then u cant do it with one hand],
and at last i can use multitasking...
not the biggest fan of Google Now, at least at this point. ive found it not much usefull 4 me, i would prefer it much more integrated with other apps.

Nexus One owners feeling a little Nexus S envy can breathe a little easier -- we're hearing that Android 2.3 Gingerbread is being pushed out to the N1 as we speak. We'd imagine that all the slick new features that don't require new hardware (like NFC support) will be there, and we're definitely interested in playing with this built-in WiFi calling stack. We'll let you know what we find -- won't you do the same?

What interests me is the new dalvik-cache handling, supposed to speed things up a lot.

Not really, but the actual dump from a real device would be nice, because it has drivers, and things like that. When infinitybiff makes a release, rest assured, not everything will work right away. I quote infinitybiff when I say that.
at least its good to have something out early, then work on fixes....good stuff
Heres some screenshots of the (slightly) new theme for gingerbread.

ICS: Can it run?

What do you guys think? can it run on the G2/DZ?
i think it might be able to. looking at the code, it might be able to run some things. plus, the galaxy nexus has only a 5mp camera. the G2 has a 5mp camera as well, so it could be capable of some ICS camera features, maybe all of it. i am keeping my fingers cross that ICS can work on this phone!
If it can run on both Nexus S and Nexus One, i don't see why not on G2?

there was a basic honeycomb port a while back, and thats before we had a real source for honeycomb. Now that we'll have the ICS source, we should be able to run it. It'll just take time to get developers (and google) to have a working release.

If it can run on the Nexus S, it will definitely run on here. I'm ready for it.
honestly from looking at it id be willing to run just stock rooted ICS, without any sort of special ROM on top, it looks fantastic and if it happens ill at least make it one of my boots in boot manager, looks to be top notch and im so excited for devs to get it working on the G2! they have all of my support!
of course it can run on our visions and it will...........soon!!!!

Stock would just be fine with me! My guess is anything above stock, like a sense version of ICS, it will take up too much memory and perhaps slow the phone down.
I hope whoever (cyanogen? ) can get it running. That would be a great thing! I want my G2 to last one more year with the latest software. After that, the next nexus is what I will be aiming for

its confirmed that nexus s is going to get it. also, according to Cohen and Engadget who asked him, any 2.3 device can run it (theoretically).

Unfortunately, we're all going to have to wait until sometime after the source code is released and the CM team can get it working. As far as an official update, I don't think so unless HTC itself posts an update.

man, i'm sure we will see it! It doesn't seem too different from ICS, but MP noted to me earlier today that even if we DO get 4.1, PROJECT BUTTER might not be compatible, and thats pretty much the BIG thing in 4.1, so it might not be as big as we plan.
Aw! That's what I was afraid of. Our vibrant might not have the guts for project butter. God dammit that would suck. Next nexus devices should be coming this fall right? If they price it to compete like they have tablet has been. I'll pick one of those babies up.
Well, Project Butter is just kernel changes etc, isn't it? Doesn't seem like it would be a hardware limitation unless it needed drivers or something

Apparently, according to rumors, there is supposed to be FIVE Nexus devices this year. I hope it is from all different manufacturers. Samsung,HTC,LG,Asus, and hopefully Nokia but that is unlikely.
Also, read up here, http://phandroid.com/2012/06/28/no-profit-in-nexus-7-pricing-says-rubin/
The reason the price is so LOW is because Google wants a clear pathway into the tablet market with this Nexus 7. A tegra 3 device at 200$? That, no one is daring to do but Google. They took no profits from the device, but I'm sure they will get something out of it since
1) market share increases
2) their own company value increases
3) if anyone uses the internet on any device, you can be sure as hell to see a google ad somewhere haha

No matter how good our developers are, they still need Samsung to do their part. FOR EXAMPLE... Take a picture with your 10.1 using ANY ICS ROM that our developers have put together. Plus, to be completely honest, we shouldn't have to count on our NON-PAID, VOLUNTEER devs to make the software everything that it SHOULD HAVE BEEN when released from Samsuck.

I am in the same boat as you. I should of learned with the Captivate how they do things in regards to updates but I didnt. The only way I will still buy a Samsung product is if they are making the next nexus phone or tablet. That way factory images will be provided and then I can just flash the updates myself and not have to wait for them to update it for me.

I was going to post a link, but it looks like you beat me to it, thanks!
This port is pretty buggy, but overall its SO smooth. I haven't had a single lag/shutter. Only draw-backs are no wifi and audio (I don't even need to mention the camera...)
The port is pretty awesome, and I'm expecting something great to come of this, making our tabs better, faster, and way more productive.
Hi men.
I have a GT-p7500 and am ready to test every safe rom/os on it.if you have info that I'm not informed of pm me!
But this preeeee-alpha version isn't worth.
Ps:I'll test it though!!!!!!

Wifi works, sounds work and sd youtube works
New build is up and this can and I do use daily no bugs to speak of. Apart camera 3G etc. This ROM is buttery smooth and is very fluid and has hadn't a wow factor to my tab and you wouldn't go back to hc nor ICS. Try this ROM :good:

Sooo, Android 4.2

How long do you think it'll be 'till we get android 4.2, if at all?
Asus haven't even released a perfect android 4.1 yet!
Hopefully, Android 4.2 drastically improves things such as the I/O.

I'm pretty confident that we'll get 4.2. Especially considering this tablet has the exact same specs as the nexus 7.

Isn't the I/O down to crap memory chips? So I'm not sure on that?

Result only thing I really dislike on my TF300T is when updating Apps everything freezes.
Waiting to see what xplodwild can do
Yeah, that's what I'm hating too, especially because I set updates to automatic, so I get like "ramdom freezes" everytime PlayStore offers updates -.-
4.2 includes user accounts... FINALLY! Yum, yum!

You can have it now if you are rooted with the SwitchME app. I have it installed and it works pretty well on the TF300T. I am curious if the 4.2 multiple users will be better though.
now that CM nightlies are going to start coming out tomorrow 4.2 will be out as soon as CM adds the update to there repositories, ohh i just can't wait.

What and why you need user accounts in tablet ? i think that tablet are personaly and only one user only use, Just like pc (personal computer ) And every family member has own tablet / and pc. And offcourse like phones. Now days everyone have own personal phone. So no need user accounts.
But this is just what im thinking and feels about.

It'll be a while before the TF300T gets 4.2? Didnt think the source code will drop until they release the Nexus 4 on the 13th November?
cant wait to get my nexus4
And my wife and I share the Tab, so user accounts are fine for me
Considering the release rate of Asus, I'd start getting excited around the 10th of each month as that's when they've typically been letting updates out.

Can't wait for 4.2. But here's what I'm wondering... Will the default UI be the same (i.e. tablet UI) or is it going to be the blown up phone UI, just like the nexus 7/10? I know it's kinda easy to change it back to tablet UI anyway, but still... that's an extra step for the uninitiated...

It's up to the manufacturer:

Asus will probably keep it the same.
