I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 and I have a very annoying issue with my capacitive back button. Often I have to press it at least 3 or 4 times to go back. This happens no matter what app I'm in. The menu button works instantly every time though. Any ideas? Thanks.
Do you have a case that is inhibiting your touching action? No issues here.

At times (occasionally) I find myself pressing the wake button while my nexus 4 is on sleep at most 3 times in order for it to wake up.
Is anyone else facing the same problem?
By wake button, I assume you mean the hardware power button? If so, I've noticed that I need to press firmly on the center of the power button to guarantee waking up. If I push on the edge, it doesn't always work even if the button "clicks".
I haven't noticed any issues but I do have a bumper ($5 Poetic) and I can just slide my finger over with a little pressure and it responds. Not sure if it's hardware or like tengen said that you might not be hitting the middle, but there are quite a few ROMs out there that let you wake with the volume rocker as well, nice feature.
Hi all, I am having a very strange problem with the power button on my Nexus 7. The problem is that sometimes when I press the button the screen does not come on and I have to press it several times or I have to press it very hard to get the screen to come on. Pressing the power button to turn the screen off does not cause any problems though. The fact that the screen would turn off okay but not turn on made me think it was a software problem, but doing a factory reset or switching ROMs didn't help so maybe it is a hardware problem. It also happens in recovery mode (TWRP 2.6). I can turn the screen off and on rapidly with the power button with no problems, but once the screen is off for more than a few seconds it's hard to get it to come back on. I thought maybe it was sticking or something, but again I never have any problems turning the screen off. I bought the device used several months ago, but it was originally purchased over a year ago so I don't think warranty will cover it. I only noticed it start to do this in the past couple of weeks or so. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Here's what I tried:
1) Factory reset - No change after the factory reset
2) Flashing a different ROM. I was running stock rooted 4.3, also tried SmoothROM and cyanogenmod but get the same problems. Also have the same problem in recovery mode.
3) Opening the back case - didn't notice any physical problems with the button. Even when I press the little round metal button on the inside of the device that corresponds to the power button I get the same problem. It makes the normal clicking noise but nothing happens unless I press very hard.
Anyways, it's not the end of the world I just have to press the button very hard to get it to wake, but it is a bit annoying and would be nice to be able to fix it.
Update: Ok, this is strange, but I just did another factory reset and it seems to be better now. I'll keep you posted in case the problem returns.
Real strange!

Anyone else been noticing issues with the power button on the N4 since upgrading to Kit Kat? (Fully stock)
I've found that sometimes my power button won't register a 'long press' to bring up the power/volume/airplane mode control, unless I reboot.
Other times, I've found that pressing it seems to register twice.
Is it just me?
it's not kit kat the power button on our phones is of really bad quality they only last for a few months you should get it replaced from the service centre.

You are not alone my friend..It happened to me when i upgraded to 4.3..Ever since i am having issues with power button..At first i thought that it's due to 4.3 because the button was all fine in 4.2..But then i had to accept that the button is dying..It's not due to the upgrade..
Sometimes my button won't register long press & sometimes it feels like i've pressed it 2 times lol..Phone locks & then unlocks just by pressing the button once :crying:
For me, the power button sometimes wont turn the screen on. I have to press 2 times.
And i feel this after upgrade to 4.4
You guys should just change the power button. It is a known problem for Nexus 4.

Same is happening here, my phone has less than 3 months. I don't believe it's a hardware problem, I can hear the "click" when I press, and sometimes it works perfectly, and sometimes is just horrible to lock/unlockscreen.
I'm starting to consider about flashing a ROM/Kernel with doubletap2wake.

Dear !
I am user of OnePlus 2 and I have problem with my home button. It is well known problem, but what I should do in such situation - send it with warranty ?
Sometimes id doesn't work and I need to touch it many, many times before it will star working.. :/ I was testing meizu mx5 and there home button was much better. What I should do?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePAjihJJbhg - here is my problem
Everyone knows there is an issue with sensitivity of home button. Hopefully this will be solved by future OTA updates by Oneplus. Till then use on screen buttons or set screen off on long press of Home button and Camera on double tap(Kinda works for me).
fortunately home button is working fine in my phone
but once i changed the double tap functionality to turn the screen off then i observed battery drain
so switched back to do nothing on double tab
Interesting, I have this problem but in reverse. Its activating the home button without me touching it. i tried wiping the button with a cloth but no luck. Had to switch to on-screen buttons. Anybody have a solution?
My power button gets stuck and as you know when you long press it it reboots the phone. So basically my phone is just constantly rebooting and rebooting, its practically unusable. I need help if anyone knows a way to disable the function of power button, I mean so the power button wont do any function anymore, or swap it with another button.
I had the same problem. Got the button replaced, it worked for a month or so and I started getting the random reboots again. A search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem with the S3, and I doubt they fixed the issue for the S3 neo.
1.5 years of use and my power button is broken, my volume buttons are mushy and my camera doesn't focus at all. The build quality on this phone is a joke.
You'll probably have to have your power key replaced as well. Or do what I did and remove it from the motherboard. You won't believe how flimsy the solder is. I now use the accessibility shortcut button to lock / unlock my phone. It's a hassle and it takes up screen real estate, but at least it works.

Mine stopped doing it now but I'm sure it will start again. You are right, build quality of this phone is really lame. That part on the sides that looks like metal is mostly worned off from my phone. Camera focus is crap and volume is lower than before, I can barely hear notifications. Maybe I'll remove the button too, but I'm concerned about how to boot the phone if it turns off.
You can turn on the phone by connecting the charger, immediately booting into download mode (before the battery icon comes up) and restarting from there. It's not the best solution, but at least I have a functional phone until my oneplus x arrives sometime this week
try to do this

That's actually a fantastic idea. I thought about flashing cm that has no offline charging and booting that way, but this is better solution lol.

You can try nova launcher since it has a gesture for double tap to lock screen, or maybe a 3rd party app.
use soft lock to lock screen without pressing power button
