I;m new to ROM's, but i'm already sick of not being able to download a ROM i want to try..
i run a small record label and i have a good amount of bandwidth available (im using 2% of 60000.00 MB)
so... if you are interested in this opportunity contact me.. ad free. odds are you wont listen to my music.. just get the roms around.. you'll have a direct link..
ftp accounts will be issued to developers and ROMS they can be uploaded whenever they need to be.. pls dont upload 5roms a day and destroy the bandwidth.. you will ruin it for everyone.. i will have to monitor the bandwidth so it doesnt exceed my monthly limits, but with roms being 150k on average, we should be able to supply alot of people.. if i get close to the montlhy limit, all roms will be downloaded to my computer and re-uploaded once the monthly limit has passed.. direct email or fast forum contact is preffered..
i'm willing to do this for a time.. i cant say for how long as i do not know the future of the record label..
so if you are interested.. contact me.. much thanks

MobileUnderground.info also allows for free file hosting on the site's FTP!!
Well, I feel that XDA has given a lot to me since I became addicted to Android and I feel like giving back to the community. I want to offer free hosting to the devs here for their ROMs and kernels. I have several sites that I own and several hosts as well as a dedicated server here at home on its own dedicated line. Speeds for the server I own are 50 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up. The hosts that I have are around 10 Mbps up and down. I'll even allow devs to run their own site on a subdomain from my site unless you want to purchase your own domain. Please feel free to PM me if you are interested!
I'm not a Dev but I still love you.
Thanks

You will be blessed.
Ok, so we have quite a few people interested in this! I'm glad people are taking up this offer! Please feel free to PM me and I'll gladly get you set up with the hosting!
Free online storage list. Add to it if you can please.
I did a little research and found out that DropBox is not the only free online backup solution that can be used for your EVO. I have been trying them out and some seem really amazing and so I wanted to share.
I would put links to them all but you can easily find them by searching on google and I don't know how the MODS would feel about all the outside links.
Although Dropbox seems to have the most fans, I am trying SugarSync because of the instant 5GB storage. Sign up on the SugarSync.com website or click my link below to get a bonus 500MB
Here is the list I created. Feel free to add to it.
Dropbox 2GB
SugarSync 5GB <-----My favorite by far...
ZumboDrive 2GB
Memopal 3GB
Spideroak 2Gb
Syncplicity 5GB
Dmailer 2GB
IDriveSync 2GB
Box.net 5GB -->thanks @eelmonger
Microsoft SkyDrive + Sorami (app)- 25gb --> thanks @michaelvibe & jobryan26
Adrive 50GB ---> thanks @michaelvibe
Attention MODS... If I can get an official go ahead from you I will put links (not referrals) to these free resources. I will also do mini reviews on each because some are obviously better than others. The best ones out there such as Dropbox and Sugarsync (IMO) are "the best" because they offer an apps for your phone and computer (MAC or PC).
Dropbox has always been my favorite, they treat their users like kings, seriously. They offer free space all the time, usually for no reason.
Last time someone made a topic about Dropbox everyone started posting their referral links and everyone got a good chunk of space for free. Let's get that ball rolling, yeah?
Dropbox!
Not just about Dropbox
I appreciate your response. But I did not want this to be a list of where people posted their referral links to Dropbox. Thats cool and all... I have a referral link which has never been used and would love for people to use it but I was hoping more of creating a list of Dropbox like services.
Obviously people will post what they want, but maybe you could start another post about Dropbox specific and see if you can get it started? Cool?
I don't want to be a hypocrite because I did put my SugarSync referral link up there.
p.s- I would like to make a nice resource for everyone looking for free online storage. Does anyone know if the mods would mind if I put links (not my referral links), but just simple links to each free service so people to access easily?
I love Dropbox, but when I started filling that up, I found Box.net which gives you 5 free gigs, but has some limits on filesizes and such.
thanks @eelmonger
I added box.net to the list!
Keep them coming!
Microsoft SkyDrive - 25gb
Ridiculous amount of free space. Haven't used them in a long time though.

I dont think it would be a big deal. Just make it clear that they are outside links and not refferals.

Yep, been using these guys for 3 years now. No issues. They do not offer SSL encryption on the free accounts though or FTP access. Also, keep in mind that they have 2 free accounts: one which is 50 GB completely free and another one which has also 50GB but has a 14 day trial. Make sure you choose the right account on creation.
Once inside all file transfers are handled through a java interface.
I have been using Dropbox for about a month and it is amazing. Keeps all of my things in sync between my Laptop, Netbook, EVO, and iPod Touch. 2GB is more than enough for me and it is so simple to use.
Thanks for the list of other places, I might be curious to try other services though to see what else is out there.
Dropbox vs. Sugarsync

Here are 3 more cloud storage services:
MobileMe
Carbonite
Mozy
I use Dropbox btw. New to cloud storage services, and it was the first I came across via a referral on xda. I haven't tried others, but am happy with Dropbox.
This thread is spam. The only link in the op is a referral link to benefit the thread author.
@Biker1
@Biker1 - Thanks for the resources but I checked them out and as far as I could tell they were not free. Please correct me if I am wrong. Nice link to compare Dropbox with Sugarsync!
@indagroove - This thread is not spam. Your post is not helpful. I check this thread daily and will continue to add free resources as I find them or when people post them. I OBVIOUSLY put my link to Sugarsync. Plus I OBVIOUSLY mentioned I have Dropbox which I did not put a referral link to. I said Sugarsync was my favorite and I thought others would like it and using the referral link will give you an extra 500mg storage... and duh, I get a bonus too but thats not the point. I will gladly put links directly to these free resources if I get an okay from the mod. Not referral links, just plain links. BTW, why not have referral links to give extra storage to someone trying them out? It's a thought worth thinking through.
Notice the little yellow star under my profile? (you have some too so I think you understand). Want to know how many times I have donated to various developers? I am not here to cause problems dude so please chill out. I am here to learn and share. I realize I flipped out a bit here on my response. I dont like accusations. A question directed at me would have been a better way I think.

You posted your own referral link, and directed others not to. I think that's wrong, and hypocritical.
I'm all for referrals, so just be clear about what you are doing, and make it a referral thread.
I have a Hulu Plus referral link. Please use it to get 2 weeks free: https://hulu.com/r/E9qhSw
My own servers. 1300GB.
just signed up for Adrive! thanks for the tip. ...is there an android version floating around or do i just have to use a browser and sign in via web??
@adeyo- How do you like Adrive?
Thanks Adeyo. I don't know anything about Adrive. Tell us what you think about it when you get a chance.
Maybe you should...

Maybe you should make your own app and compete with Dropbox with that!

In all honesty, I don't care if people post referral links. ALL I was saying to the OP was that I don't want the thread to be ONLY about referral links. I really want to make a nice list of free online storage for us.
I have seen those threads that are just about referrals. One hundred referral links to dropbox gets old and cluttered.
I have a thought. Maybe on a first come basis then as a "reward" for finding cool free online storage each user can post ONE referral link to the resource they found. That way anyone wanting to sign up for that service gets off to a nice start.
BTW- I just started this thread, I don't control it. Do what you want. But don't go claiming this thread is spam because its not.
hey all
i think i am going to pursue a little endeavor.... i think i am going to make a ROM hosting site.... I would love a little help however, so if anyone has any ideas, or has any "know how" of how to make this dream a reality, please PM me!!!
Well, often the reason that people use those services is because they are sharing copyrighted material and they don't have the rights to distribute the files. It's better not to host the files on your own server.
If you're not very careful about what ROMs you host or allow people to upload to your server you could end up with legal problems.
I allready do this @ infinimod.com
Anyone serious about development should have their own hosting service. I pay like $5.88/mo for unlimited hosting and bandwidth from a full service provider, powweb.com, though I am on a grandfathered plan, so their current rates are probably a bit higher and/or may have bandwidth restrictions.
goo-inside.me
Recently I've noticed that the free uploading websites have been going down and/or uploads being removed... Many of the ROM's are being pulled down. Well it's time to find a new way to host the files for free...

Well it's time to find a new way to host the files for free... I would say make a free account on 000webhost, upload a mini site describing your ROM, and upload your ROM. 000webhost gives 1.5GB of space. But others may have better ways so collaborate.

You can't do that, it goes agaisn't the rules of 000Webhost.

Hmmm, I thought that I read that somewhere... Oh well, like I said collaborate, how are you gonna share your custom ROMs now?
So I'vo got a hosting space that is used to host an HD2 rom. I don't have limitations in terms of space and bandwidth but I don't want use for now...Maybe later...
How about 4shared, mediafire ?
The other solution would be to everybody send 1 € or $1 and to acquire an unlimited hosting plan with access to the devs only...
Why aren't people just using the torrent system? You can torrent from just about any modern device.
Its free, and if bandwidth is an issue for a dev, you can throttle upload speed easily and let initial leechers pick up the slack.
Not to sound sarcastic, but torrenting was made in large part FOR collaberation and sundry, not just pirating. Ironic that we've shifted back to reliance on download server services.
If folks lose the "hit and run" mentality propogated by Megafileserveuploadetc sites we can simplify this entire dynamic drastically.
[Atrix 4GWannabe] XDA Premium suggestions - Analytics opt-out, Setting backup/restore
XDA should open torrent tracket
Sounds funny but that's not bad idea, although that would work only for new/popular files...
+1 Bit Torrent... I'll seed!
im not sure why i didnt think of it either, i am not going to lie that i have been a tad illegal here and there, but i was upset about some legal files getting hit in the cross fire, i have a usb 3.0 1TB drive for my files and a 50 DL 15 UL connection with an always on connection, ill torrent my ass off knowing i wont get a letter for doing something illegal
I dont find it really a huge issue, since there are still many ways to get files if you really need or want them. Plus you can share public files from dropbox which is a fairly good way as long as you have the storage and a decent upload speed.
Where to Host android files
Through the grape vine i have learned of a new site set not yet open but sounds great for developers. its androidromhosting.com , its suppose to open soon and specialize in hosting all things android for the community, developers will have opportunities for their own portals and all kinds of cool stuff. I know some of the people involved and I will update here as soon as it opens !!
Alaq!
can you reupload fastboot wipe? all the links are dead
