Double check the forums. Verizon had Samsung lock the bootloader for our version. They have an exploit root. But, as far as I know, they haven't come up with a way to unlock. They have about a dozen devs working on it, so maybe. But it was enough to put me on to the nexus, instead

Well I placed my order for the GSIII today. I will keep my Continuum as a wifi device and hang around. I know I said I would not buy another Samsung, but as others have said the Continuum is a fringe device. I know that's not an excuse for the terrible support, but I will only buy flagship devices from now on.

I'm actually shocked that sprint released it before the galaxy nexus or HTC evo one were released.....
They have held back updates in The past so that they could release an upcoming phone and have the selling point of using androids latest version first in the sprint now network....

that's two drivers that have to change. porting it from the internation version shouldn't be hard. I'm staying with this buggy unofficial version on my EVOLTE cause I can't stand Sense or TouchWiz
I might stay stock until jellybean comes out, and I have a feeling our guys will do a pretty good port on it.
try this for now, if it's gui stuff
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746427
I believe CM has already announced that as soon as Jelly Bean source is out (since they're already at RC status with CM9), they will stop development on CM9 and go forward with CM10.
From the CM Google+ page: Our goal is to release a stable CM 9.0.0 (and any needed .1’s). After that, we will work on CM7 and CM10 only. As stated above, CM9 devices are highly likely to get CM10, so maintaining a separate class of devices for CM9 only is inefficient.
Now back to the original post: I also miss CM9. I think CM9 is far superior to TouchWizz. Once CM9/10 is released for my GS3, I'm rooting and switching.
I will also likely never buy anything but a Nexus phone in the future, and in some ways, regret not purchasing one this time. The only saving grace is that buying a Nexus and switching to a T-Mobile Value plan would have only saved me $5 per month due to my grandfathered plan, so it's actually cheaper in the long run for me to get the GS3 on contract.
In my opinion, the galaxy s3 is way better than the nexus, even with the nexus running jelly bean.

By the time they release a CM10 for our phone the next Nexus will be out. Rumor has it Google will introduce 5 Nexus models this year. Let's hope that's true. I learned that with Android phones if you really want good rom development you need a Nexus or wait for months on end for a decent rom like CM.

Yep, same here. While Touchwiz isn't my favourite, I can definitely manage using it for another month or two until CM10 is released. At that point, I don't think I can wait for Samsung's ridiculously slow updates to make its way to me.

Nope.
This thread made by the OP is staged.
#1. It's a new account. Trolling is expected.
#2. The story given is too sketchy, why would a Sprint Tech *magically* announce that the Epic 4G is getting ICS when they were going to buy a Galaxy S III?
#3. If the OP is being truthful (let's give him the reason of the doubt) Then the Sprint Tech who said it is retarded and trolling.
Edit: On a Happier Note, I had a dream last night that the Epic 4G was the first to get Key Lime Pie running on it. LOL

Epic is now an awkward device in my hand particularly because it's such a nice phone for cell calls and texting yet it's not a global phone (and I'm on China Mobile, GSM)... But being the 1st capable Android phone I've acquired, especially given how my bought-and-sold HTC Dream and Moto Milestone performed, Epic is always to stay beside my pillow for bedtime TWRP fun! Sure hope that would be how most E4Gs end their life...
And as of now, to be off-topic, T-Mo's Relay 4G is Epic's proper GSM sequel (current wishlist #1). While on Sprint there's only the Photon Q, and Verizon the age-old Droid 4. Again, so lucky of us to have one of the first (after HTC Dream, of course) 5-row QWERTY Android phone!
