Ok, my brother dropped his phone last night and the power button seems to not be working so his phone won't turn on. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to get it to turn on again. It is stock, fully charged, but won't turn on. Tried taking out the battery but I think the button is just dead. I would appreciate any help I can receive since I am not too familiar since I am from the Nexus forums. Thanks in advance

What is the sign when you plug for charging? Does it show the battery icon? If yes then you have a chance otherwise take it to service. What model is the phone?

Your saying your power button is dead? Do the above and if the led turns on then try this for your power button

Well when I connect the charger the LED just lights up and nothing comes out on the screen. I tried the foil trick, but it just simply wouldn't work. Oh well, did all I could and your recommendation. Thanks for the replies and am open to any other suggestions

I mentioned its stock in the OP. I know it would have been much easier because I could use some ADB commands, but unfortunately my brother doesn't know or want to know about rooting

Yeah I missed that. We'll like Bindo said. I guess take it to service. Unless Simone else here has Other suggestions

This is the only way to root 2.3.4 and get s-off. Hopefully you will be able to do it with your current 5 vibes issue.

No problem glad to hear it.
I don't believe this has been posted for the e4gt but came across this error after flashing AOCP ROM and it stuck on everything I flashed afterwards. Roaming would not work, at all. I spent 3 days without signal at work for 10 hours a day.
I tried clean installs of roms I knew worked, I tried to Odin back to stock, I tried to nand back, nothing seemed to work, until the guys over in the SGS3 forums found the answer.
Go to settings, and toggle roaming on and off. Not roaming guard, but roaming itself.
So simple it was laughable, but it works.
Again, I didn't see this posted anywhere in our forums, but if it has been please don't flame, I only wanted to share the fix. I don't remember who out was that found it but they definitely deserve huge thanks!:thumbup:

Try unplugging it while turning it on? Your using the charger and wire that came with it?

This seems like a long shot, but try holding the power button down for around 20 seconds. This should reboot the device if it's, at all, functional.
You have tried holding in the power button haven't you?
Holding it for 5 or so seconds should turn it on.
Holding it in for 12 or so seconds should turn it off. Afterwhich, you should be able to turn it on as described above.
Good luck!

For some reason my s4 vibrates when I pick it up off of a table sometimes. It's not the volume button because the volume is still at full sound when I go to check it.
Just wanted to know if anybody else is experiencing this.

Do you have any missed calls or texts when this happens? If so you probably have smart alert on.. It vibrates when you have a missed call or text when you pick the phone so you know to check it

I think that's EXACTLY what it was. Good catch. I guess I haven't explored the extra options enough yet.
Doesn't help that I've been waiting for some AOKP love. Made me not want to get too comfortable with TW. Thank you!

Task had an S4 but he said he was returning it so idk if we'll get Tasks on the S4. Which kind of kills it for me cuz I ran his ROM on my S3 religiously. There was NO comparison.

During a call pulling the phone away to get the dialer pad the screen stays black, I have to hit the home button to get the screen to come on. I'm going back to pure stock to see if that fixes things.
Hope it works for ya buddy
