Office documents on Galaxy S3 - Galaxy S III General

Hey guys I know many of you have been waiting for Polaris Office.
You can download Smart Office 2 from the Samsung app store for free.
There's also just smart office but the second version is better suited for our galaxy s3
It allows editing

What's wrong with Polaris? ^_^
*** Powered by CheckROM EvoHD™ V2 ***

When I tried to open an Excel file with lots of formulas in it and used Polaris, everything was messed up.
So I downloaded other office viewer.

Polaris viewer at the moment is only a viewer. (read only)
Smart office allows you to edit and create files

does anyone have or know where to find a program which would enable me to open powerpoint files on my xda II
In addition to above comment
i have tried the clearvue ppt but for some reason will not open any of the powerpoint files i transfer from the pc to the xda II.
Any response would be appreciated
From above
i have downloaded a trial version of pocketslide show 1.30 which works great but it only lasts a month then its 20 bucks does anyone have this program and there willing to share or does anyone know of a freeware version

AjFoster I have used the pre installed clearview application on my XDA II with powerpoint files and it works well. I have the additional BackPack accessory so that I can do PowerPoint presentations using my XDA II connected to a LCD projector. That works great too.
Before I bought my XDA II I wasn iPAQ user and bought pocket slides for that platform. I can still use PocketSlides on the XDA II if I want full Powerpoint functions (create and edit as well as view) but in my case the clerview application is pretty much all I need at the moment.
What version PowerPoint files are you trying to open?
Is clearview compatible with all versions of powerpoint?
Ed
Thanks ed for the prompt reply. I am using powerpoint 2000 which according to the guidelines is compatible with clearvue. When i drag and drop the files from desktop to xda II they are converted fine but for somereason my clearvue just does not pick them up.
Any other suggestions?
Try to make a simple slideset with no animations, no bigger embedded pictures or some other fancy stuff
This will just test the compatibility...
You will have to go the the ActiveSync and uncheck the convert file area. For Powerpoint files you do not convert the file. I had the same problem until i readd it somewhere now it works like a charm.
Cheers
Thanks shanec i unchecked the conversion box and now clearvue works a treat. Shame that simple bit of advise wasnt available in help

Seeking some ROM files on other HTC devices

I have the Apache (Verizon XV6700) and noticed that there's no Today plug-in for the Device Lock feature such as on the Wizard and other Pocket PCs.
Can anyone tell me what DLL files and registry entries they could be related to, and better yet, can anyone extract them so it can be tested out on devices that don't have them?
I'm also looking for anyone who has a Samsung i730 device. They have this program called Picsel Browser and it's actually quite amazing, being able to read PDF and Office documents, plus even grab full HTML pages and look as good as your browser at home.
Please help. Thanks in advance!
Another file is the CapNotify.exe found on the Wizard. I'd like to see if it can work on the Apache. Can anyone provide this file?

1-totally skinned and finger friendly to replace all aspects of widows mobile interface. the basically did what MS should have done ages ago
2-the amazing video and sound editer
3-video player with support for mpeg4 and xvid
4-the fingerfriendly image viewer
5-the task switcher
6-the cube interface, L&W modes and the touchwhiz2
7-other apps like podcast&RSS , OCR for recording contacts information, new music id medomi application, new file explorer and calander
video and more info http://pocketnow.com/review/samsung-omnia-ii-i8000-1?p=2
so, where can we download the omniaPro/ii ROMs so we can start extracting the cabs and packages to port them to our devices

very true matey ... it would be awesome if someone can port the apps to htc touch hd ....
How about the skinned file manager, and midomi?
im having an issue finding the ROM bbut there are people over here who already have the omnia 2 would someone post instructions on how to dump the installed rom so they upload it for us.
there is a lot of thing to like about their customized software
I would love to see some of these application on my Touch Diamond. The skinned file manager, and Touch player especially!
I would probably kill for the task manager...thats what I've been craving for months now. Also the SMS and Email app is a must have. Don't want the phone..just the software
The resolution is different, so it's very hard to port these apps to Omnia I
I've watched PocketNow's Youtube i8000 software tour and it is simply incredible. I've heard quite a bit of negative things about the Omnia II i8000, but the software tour provided by PocketNow really made it shine.
The interface was very fast (in some cases, as fast as the custom ROMs available on XDA) and the available software was simply unreal. The video editor and cube were particularly nice, but I believe Samsung also got the first Windows Mobile version of Midomi ever making it that much better.
I can't wait for the QWERTY Samsung B7610 to finally come out.
i found this thread. the omnia II rom dump is uploaded in mediafire here
hope this is enough for people over here to start
some apps are already extracted here http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=7f364dce2089ae8a4c17ca8801618ef78fe1cb5b49933873b8eada0a1ae8665a

Powercalc.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Smartmemo.rar --Didnt Not Load, No errors message, just a [Ping] sound.
TCalendar.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Tclock.rar -- Loads but app is in VGA.
Looks real nice though, if only they worked in wqvga.
i added a picture of my xperia in the first post
also a cool guy posted a nice story about all this in pocketnow. i hope now we get enough attention from the devs here to port the rest
http://pocketnow.com/news-archive/samsung-omnia-ii-apps-being-extracted-for-other-devices below is part of the story
Samsung Omnia II Apps Being Extracted for Other Devices

.
There should be more developments once they dump the ROM and more people get involved, which is the main focus of the thread. Visit the MoDaCo thread and keep an eye on the dedicated Omnia II extraction thread at XDA for any progress and to test the apps.
How many of you are waiting for a functioning Midomi app to be ported? I know I am. Hopefully patience pays off.
In case you missed it, check out our full Samsung Omnia II review.

Has anyone tried these on the Diamond?
Update: Tried TCalendar and Phonebook. TCalendar seems to work at first glance looks really nice, however, I cannot add any appointments or anything and the menu softkey makes the screen go crazy. Phonebook just gives me a a black screen with only the keyboard button in the down right corner.
Need Midomi..
Downloaded and tried Tcalender. ..
It worked as u can see in the pic, but it fails to creat new appointment or to access the menu soft key ??? apart from the first home screen nothing else is working.
Edit: I have Xperia X1i, Official R3AA UK ROM
Tested the TCalendar on the HTC Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz) with the Custom ROM Topaz Essentials
Viewing of the Calendar works fine (although quite slow) - but opening the menu or adding a new entry does not work
Oh.Can't dl from mediafire
who can upload to rapidshare for a mirror?
Only need the Part02 Disk1 dump files(part1.rar part2.rar part3.rar)
thanks very much!!!
I just want to search into the dump folder for any other files needed to load the apps!
Just a quick update from a Touch HD running pkoper's EPS HDX WM6.1 ROM:
- TCalendar: starts, shows appointments (in all views), looking good. Navigating to dates works. Menus, however, don't work properly. And it's all in Hungarian.
- TClock: doesn't start ("components not found").
N.
i think these compressed executables are missing other supporting files thats why they are refusing to run. a proper cab of each of the omnia application need to be created. lets keep an eye on the modaco thread for now

[Q] XLS editor

Hello, recently I downloaded some office applications almost exclusively to view and edit Excel files. It happens that most of them proved slow to edit the files, detail for the size of my files, ranging from 20 to 100 KB each. The applications that I downloaded and tested:
Kingsoft Office
Documents to Go
Quickoffice Pro
Olive Office
Office Suite
Google DOCS
The "best" Kingsoft and DOCS were, however, slow.
Am I doing something wrong? It is normal for office suites run with such slowness?
Ah, im using the GTAB 10.1 3G
try this
did you tried polaris office ? good luck

best office app

Hi i bought my wife a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 2014 edition
ive been using it and really lke it
was thinking of getting one me self to replace my laptop as i work offshore and it would be easyer to take away with me for a month at a time
i like the expandable sd card slot so would be able to save all my films etc to it to watch when am away
the thing thats put me off is office apps
while am away i have to send off my timesheets etc
on my timesheet i have a windows word timesheet with a excel spreed sheet on the inbedded in the word document
on my wifes tab i am yet to find a office program that will let me edit my spreadsheet thats embeeded in word
what offices do you,s all use , and what is the best
I use Documents To Go due to its Bluetooth keyboard integration. The spreadsheet is used about 15 or so hours a week with a Bluetooth keyboard. If keyboard integration is not a consideration, Office Suite or the free ones are OK. If you are looking at moderate to heavy usage (me) then consider a Bluetooth keyboard case (I have a Poetic combination). Before settling on an application, consider your usage of a Bluetooth keyboard followed by compatibility.

Documents To Go's Bluetooth implementation is superior to the rest, though it lacks in the bells and whistle department. It works and is stable.

Try Polaris Office 5 for tablet first because it is free (Samsung apps).
Then you can try Office Suite.

i like office suite the best, but its too expensive for what it is. Kingsoft is a close second for me and it's free. Quickoffice is ok. Polaris is horrible, mostly because it sucks at rendering pptxs from powerpoint. Couldn't comment on the word processor aspect.
I have used all of the above. I like Office Suite the best and I got it for free during one of Amazon's free app of the day. I have seen it there at least twice for free, but if you have to have a good suite try Office Suite 7. King Office is good, but to me, kind of cumbersome to use. Just my opinion...
Kingsoft worked best for Excel

I have used all of the above as well, specifically OfficeSuite, QuickOffice, Kingsoft Office, Documents to Go, and Polaris. OfficeSuite used to be my favorite until I started having problems editing an Excel worksheet. The formulas were broken and necessary. I started testing all of the office apps with that specific excel (including a few other free office apps that I don't remember) and Kingsoft was the only one that could handle it well. I now only use Kingsoft office and haven't noticed any loss of functionality. It should be noted that I primarily use it for Excel so I can't comment on how it works with PowerPoint or Word. I have viewed PPT files using Kingsoft and that worked well, but did not edit them.
Edited to add documents to go to list of office apps tested.

No. I have a bluetooth keyboard, but I never use it. I almost always have a laptop as well, so ifI need to lo lots of text entry I use that instead. Kingsoft office is free so you could dolwnload it and try it.
I have installed it several times and due to its Bluetooth keyboard support, uninstall it. Thanks though.
