Hey everyone,
I haven't really been around a whole lot these past few months in this section of the forum for my Dinc, just kind of been poking around and been really happy with CM7 then CM9.
Just wanted to thank anyone who I had interacted with on this forum and any people that I've helped. It's been a great community here with the roms, mods, and the like for the Droid Incredible. It's time for me personally to move onto the Galaxy Nexus. Just got it today and threw JellyBean on there and it's absolutely fantastic after having "essentially" traded my I/O GSM version for the VZW version with a friend.
Droid incredible was an absolute solid choice for my first Android phone. Got it pre-ordered so long ago and has done me a fantastic job these past years. Hope others are still enjoying theirs. See you over on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus section!
I can haz your old Incredible then? J/K. Enjoy. I looked at the display dummy Nexus and S3 and really really really want one of those but I can't bring myself to pay that much for a contract free phone that I probably won't be able to get fully working on Page Plus Cellular since they are 4G phones.
Congrats
Personally, I'm right on the edge of upgrading. DInc has served us all so well for these last 2 yrs. But the GNex is a solid upgrade and with JB coming out we want the latest and greatest.
So do u have the GSM version? I've heard that Vzw is often slow to update OS. Is it worth the extra $? If u flash a custom ROM, that shouldn't be a factor.
Lastly, I'd love to hear ur initial impressions and what you like new vs old. Maybe try to help convince us old schoolers its time to upgrade.

Yeah I would also like to how you like it since I am going to switch to the gnex in a few weeks when my contract ends.

So how many people we really still have using and working on the vibrant? I'm feeling kinda lonely with my love for this phone =P seems like the vibrant is getting left in the dust allot quick then my G1, which is sad =/
Also side note, anyone else feel like with a SGS there really isn't anything good enough to upgrade to yet? Only phone I'd even consider is the original SGS2 or the sprint SGS2. And those are iffy due to crappy audio. Vibrant is the best phone I own period. Beats my nexus S in everything =P even beats out my HP touchpad easily IMO. Thoughts?

I feel you man, I'm getting bored of this phone. I will probably upgrade to the muiu phone. Since, it's battery lastes so long.

I just got the Vibrant about 2 months ago, as my wife's Motorola crapped out on her and our carrier swapped it out for the Vib. She wanted to swap with me, so I did and I have to say that once I upgraded it to a custom ROM, I actually like it a lot. It works well for me and what I want.
I think that most of the Jump-ship is because of boredom and not performance. I feel that and understand it. I have been there myself, but I like this phone and it is really easy to handle, breakdown (mean ADB by this) and there have been some really great customizations out on it.
Plus between the 16gb internal and my 32gb external, that is some serious storage for a phone. My old computer from a few years ago only had 30gb hard drive in it.
I am here and plan on staying for awhile.
I'm still here, kinda. My G2x is my main driver, but i still got my Vibrant and still build kernels when i have time. You're not alone

But this phones death is due from no updates.from tmobile. it just makes it way harder to develop for....
Go to the galaxy s2 forums ;-) .
You will find most of the great devs from many of the different forums there.
It seems as though Samsung shipped out yet another phone with outdated filmware lol....imagine that,
They are promising to send ics thru kies lmao ....I believe we have been thru this BS before
There are 3 vibrants in my home. My wife upgraded to the sensation and after a week gave it to my son and took her vibrant out of the drawer. I personally love this phone. Thanks to all the devs who still work on it. I have stockpiled my fave roms and kernels....just in case the remaining devs leave

I just got my Vibrant 2 mth ago from my fren who sold to me. Im not chasing the technology so i tink this phone is great for me. I like it a lot n planning to stay with it for a while longer cos i dont have the 2yrs contract matter. Btw cos im frm Singapore and we dont have Vibrant here so that makes my phone unique than the original SGS..lol. But i really dissapointed on Samsung on the firmware case and yeah this phone if rooted fly high. So i have to say i love my vibrant. Also thanks to all the devs here, appreciated what u guys have done for us n for staying with us making us great customs roms/kernels.

Any plans for IcS? I'm gonna start working on it today

ICS for Vibrant? Looking foward to this.lol
this is a great phone and when rooted does everything i've ever wanted a phone to do. although the experience with ICS will more than likely be better I'm still content with what we have so far. there are no hardcore 3d games that have pushed the hardware to the limit so I don't see any real hardware upgrade necessary. I stopped buying games on my vibrant any way cause I wasn't finishing the ones I had bought before and realized I was wasting my money. So i'm simply using it for media apps, social apps etc. These don't really need a dual core processor with 1gig of ram. The only thing I could want is an identical ICS theme and I'd be set at least for another year on this phone even if we don't ever get ICS.
Yeah, I could maybe see myself moving over to the Nexus S simply because it's got a bigger dev community and the T-Mobile version can be found for pretty cheap, but otherwise I just can't justify moving on from the Vibrant. If I don't go for the Nexus S I'll probably ride out with this until more ICS phones come out.
Hey ECOTOX, I've been quietly learning some stuff about Android and whatnot, I wouldn't consider myself a dev, not even close to one, but I'm learning and I catch on quickly, if you need any help, or have any tips, I'm here. I love this phone, and I won't be moving on to any other phone anytime soon.

Still here till July 15th of next year. Then I'm off of T-Mobile. In the meantime I put miui on my phone for the first time and it really renewed my love for what this phone can do. Still ready for a new one though.

I feel the same. I just don't see a lot of end user support with the Samsung products such as the Vibrant, and many other iterations. Updates seems to either take forever or it'll may never see the light of day. As for developer community? I can't really complain about their support for this device, since they are bringing out the goodies out of their own time with no expectations of donations, etc. And I'm grateful that they are cooking up roms, etc. In the future? I will be purchasing a Google branded phone: prompt updates, and great end user support. I just can't live with a dead end product, just feels like I got cheated out.
Well I just went to T-Mobile store and played with the sgs2 and I must say I'm completely impressed.
With a quadrant score of 2748 stock I'm blown away.
With my shattered screen and assurion's choice of replacement I'm sticking with my broken vibrant with miui ...I'm hoping sgs2 gets miui soon ...but I'm getting antsy and just might go out next week and buy the sgs2 outright
Ok, so I am on Sprint. My data port recently gave out and they shipped me a replacement. I sold the phone for 180 and been looking to get a EVO 3D on craigslist. I started coming across some Nexus S 4G's. I wanted to know how do ya'll like the phone, performance wise and did anyone have a evo before and how did it compare. I have a chance to get this phone today because the sales of the EVO 3D's keep falling through or not getting any responses
Also, Is rooting good on this phone to?
I know 1 thing is that Ill really miss my kickstand but I just want something alittle different than what I have had
My NS4G is awesome , but really I love this thing, my friend has the 3D and a couple other friends have the OG Evo and my nexus is snappier than the OG Evo by far and its just a little quicker than the 3D. Rooting it is a breeze and you get to experience the development community of a nexus phone! Besides the Galaxy Nexus I think the Nexus S/4G has the most stable builds of ICS just from speculation of course lol
Had my Evo since day one ... loved it! Traded for the Nexus about six months ago. It is superior to the Evo for all my purposes, and I do like the size better. Even though I use a stock "ish" rom, being rooted gives a lot more freedom and choice. My guess ... you will like it a lot.
Awesome, thanks for the replies. I think Ill get it plus im getting close to the 14 day return where I have to send mine back anyway

Are you planning on getting it on contract? If so then I would just wait for the Galaxy Nexus to come to sprint, it just passed through the FCC and it shouldn't be much longer till it is released..... hopefully lol
Well, might not seem very legit, to post here about that matter, but after like 3 years with my Hero, and since second one part of this community, i feel the need to say goodbye to all loyal Hero owners. The reason i say goodbye, is because i upgraded to Galaxy SII , but i will keep my hero as exhibit in my room!
Cheers guys!
So long friend, I had my hero tucked away, have since used an iphone, galaxy s2 as well, I only left my galaxy s2 last week for the nexus, so lost ability, to move around with my 25gig plus music collection, as sadly the nexus only has 16gig, so hv had to come back to my hero, and it still breathes.
Thanks and Hello
I have had my Hero since the week it was launched in the NL great phone was looking to replace it but can not find anything as small, neat and well built.
Was running a MoDaCo ROM for almost 2 years just updated to EleLinux 7.2 thanks guys it is like have a whole new phone.
So sorted for another couple of years.
I am still hanging on with my hero.
I will also say goodbye to my Hero
I am thinking of "upgrading" my Hero for a Samsung Galaxy S II, as well.
I am tired of missing calls event with stock ROMs. Besides, I need for CPU power than the Hero has to offer.
This doesn't mean I am disappointed with my Hero. It's a great phone, but it already past its time...
Here in Australia a retailer is offering the Galaxy S2 for under $400 and I must admit, I've been interested.
I just installed the Hero ICS 4.0.3 ROM today and I'm pleasantly surprised with what the phone is still capable of, despite it being terribly 'old hat' now.
Does the Galaxy S2 have any shortcomings? Still very much considering it for the money.
I would like to thank all of the awesome devs here in the Nexus One forum. You've taken me from a android noob, to a not-so-noobish noob. I'm still learning but I've recently got a One X. My N1 went south when it took up smoking and well.... It blew up. That's what you get for overclocking it way to much. But I would like to thank each and everyone of you for being awesome. Nexus One, You honestly changed me as a person and opened a whole new goal in life.
Okay enough of the rambling, I'm off to enjoy my 1X.
Take care guys.

yeah thank you all
I bought XPERIA S
Evervolv for ICS rom
Sad... I'm going to change my phone soon too, but the Nexus 1 will stay in my heart!
Am i the only one noticing that Jay_Rulen said thanks for leaving? LOL So you think it is good of him to leave?
I moved on to the Galaxy SII and will miss my N1. Thanks for the good times everyone!
whoa that's really sad, nd its great that u got one x, which is a successor of our nexus one
I'm in a similar boat. I recently had to replace my N1, and it will be sorely missed. Especially the LED trackball! Sadly enough, the google nexus is too big for my taste, and I didn't really want to spend $400 up front on a new phone so I picked up another phone instead.
I've vowed though, that as long as the next Nexus device is sized more like what I prefer, I will buy it!
I can't believe it, but I'm saying goodbye to my trusty N1 too. I'm still going to keep it around for media stuff around the house, but I got to get me some of that LTE. And IMO, the HTC One X is the first phone that is a true successor to the Nexus One.

My N1 is still alive, but I have moved on to the galaxy nexus and I also find the screen is a little too big for my liking. Screen colour is also sub-par comparing to the N1, I never see proper white colour being displayed even after adjusting RGBs and gamma values.
I bought the japanese galaxy nexus for around $325usd, shipped to hong kong via yahoo auction jp a month ago.
Though I am still flashing different roms on my N1 to play with
Kept my N1
I still use the N1 when I travel and put prepaid SIM's or my own SIM in it. It is smaller than the Inspire and then the Galaxy Nexus that followed it. If it would take ICS, I would probably be using it more. I really like ICS over Gingerbread and the extra zip of the dual core.
Anyway, it stays in my travel bag as a spare.
Phil
that sucks man. but i'm looking at exchanging my n1 for 1x as well
i'm selling my last nexus one now. it's in perfect shape and i'll get around $300 US for it in my country where imports are closed. i got to sell it now or never! i've moved to a gnex but i'll miss my first real phone.
Same here ... I'm moving to GNex now that price is affordable ...
I'm a bit sad because I really enjoyed the first nexus ... It was a pleasure to play with hundreds of custom roms and get support from this awesome devs community.
Thanks to all you awesome guys!
I'm planning to sell my Nexus One,,as the First Android device, this Smartphone has served me with pleasure... The devs are awesome as well...But the world is changing..Need better Specs now..I will miss my Sexy Nexy the most !!
Couple of years playing with the Evo 4G, no regrets owning one of the best devices of it's time. But like all good things, it had to come to an end? Nah, in this case it just got better! I'm now a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S III and couldn't be happier with it. Just wanted to stop in and thank all of the great Evo 4G Developers I've gotten to know a bit over the past year or so. You've made it a great time to learn Android inside and out and then some.
I'll now be poking around the GSIII forums, but I don't plan to root my new toy anytime soon. But I do love keeping up on things so I'll be around! Thanks everyone!
I I'm right there with you. I had my evo for 2 years and it has taught me so much. I have learned a lot from that great phone. But a week ago I also got an s3. It truly is amazing. I rooted it less then 3 hours after I got it. Thanks evo developer's for all your hard work and keep up the good work.

Same here man. I'm switching to an unlocked Galaxy Nexus though. Prepaid options are a much better option for an about to graduate student like myself. But I'm sure as hell going to miss my OG Evo. Even at two years old, she can still run with the best of them. And that's all I ever really asked for. A huge thank you to all the devs that have kept and will keep this pup relevant for a long time!
Goodbye!
Also people need to stop posting these threads, no one needs to know you changed phones..
