I know it can not be rooted yet, I am wondering if there is anything I can do to it? Maybe revert it back to Froyo or anything else that I could then obtain root? If not, no big deal because I use a Razr now, but my daughter plays around with this and I just wanted to have more options with it.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Use the ADB d2 premanent method posted here... Not only will it get you rooted faster but you learn invaluable ADB skills. Its very simple just takes 15-20 minutes of reading... you will learn nothing using a one click...
Thanks for the help and I had no problems rooting my Droid x but the fascinate is throwing curve balls and I will use other method.
Curious to see what this bad boy will do

ok. Yeah, the one click worked on the X but for some reason people are reporting some of the one clicks taking extremely long or not working at all... If you can follow the adb commands and root it manually you'll be set. I'm running JT's froyo right now and it is FAST!! Just wait till we get a froyo kernel to work with. Bird/JT/Kaos/Adrenelyn will have a field day.
Yeah I'm excited because moto's locked bootloader is a drag and I was debating the one click method for the fascinate but thought I'd give it a shot but ill deff use the other one once I get back to the PC ill post back with my results thanks alot for your help

No it was DI01. I didn't see DL09 mentioned earlier in the thread, I just assumed the unrooted phone in question was DI01. I forgot it received the OTA update to DL09 recently.
Well I've read through the wiki and I'm still lost... what's the best way to root a new Evo for 004 hardware? I've been told Unrevoked is good but I've also read threads that it doesn't work with 004. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I heard they updated unrevoked to root 004.
Search the dev section. You will find the root guide.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045
it is not the easiest way.. but it will teach you want you are doing at each step and why.
uses unrevoked and amon_ra
these are solid.. and will be great for future mods.
Unrevoke is the easy way off rooting, but make sure to have hboot drivers install( windows only) before rooting
sent from my evil evo!!
No worries
I use Unrevoked all the time and it works flawlessly on Hardware 2 through 4 phones. Just make sure you download the latest version at:
http://unrevoked.com/#evo
Other methods as mentioned above work too but can be somewhat complicated. In the end, they all use Unrevoked to achieve S-OFF.
Add one more vote for Unrevoked.

Another vote for Unrevoked. For the phones it supports it's as easy as it gets!

Awesome... thanks for the reply everyone... I'll hit the Thanks button for each of you once I get to my PC later.... Just one more question... what's the best way to unroot and get back to stock Rom if I need to go for a warranty exchange in the future? Thanks again...

the all in one root method. search the dev section for it. very easy & simple.
Ha... I'm familiar with Adb, have Android SDK setup on ubuntu and windows, but the sheer amount of info here for the Evo, its overwhelming, a lot of defunct procedures and conflicting info, I just didn't want to start down the wrong path. I'm seriously considering getting the Thunderbolt, I'm in the 30 day trial with Sprint and although I like the Evo with all the development here, the Thunderbolt is looking
awfully appealing... Cheers to everyone for your assistance...

Hey everyone. I just wanted to say a HUGE THANKS to all of you. I made the switch from a jailbroken iPhone to an Atrix 4G on ATT and because of the knowledge base of the users, an organized forum and an excellent search function, I was able to unlock my bootloader, root my phone and install Gingerblur all wiithin an hour. KUDOS!
Welcome! The fun is only starting.
Yeah I'm awesome! Jk Congrats and welcome

Before the bootloader was unlockable, there were the people unhappy with their phones and made threads in a toddler temper tantrum announcing they were getting a different phone and why. It always made me chuckle, that they think anyone cares. Don't see much of those threads anymore.
I have 3 Atrix. I knew that it was a matter of time until it showed its real potential. Now it finally is. it has has a bad rap but it should be more appreciated now.

Gingerbread, CHERRY 3.14 and check out my screenshots here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16156825#post16156825
I'd like to say thanks too. I've rooted, unlocked the bootloader, manually installed GB and the radio update and installed CWM recovery. And everything just worked. The roms and programs worked great, and any lingering issues I had were resolved by a quick search of the forums. You guys have made the process of updating my phone a breeze. Thanks so much!
Granted the Iphone stuff was super easy.... just wait for an update, then wait for someone to develop a jailbreak for it...I just jailbroke my sons friends ipod by going to jailbreakme.com and that was it. Now as far as themes and overall customization, this phone is badarse.
I have a rooted atrix already so this is pointless to me. but could be helpful to others. I have tried some of the automatic rooting programs and apps but failed miserably. so had to do it the old fashion way!!
but i came across this and it looks very promising.
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-anything-try-doomlords-easy-rooting-toolkit/
has worked on other motorola devices. so who knows. could be a timesaver!
As if the one click root option we have already is too long a process?
