hey every body i got my 32 gig for my galaxy as my old 1 was only an 8gig, right the pone has been flashed with cm mod 9 nightly also the memory card has been in that many phones it has loads of crap on it that i dont even know what half the ****e is i do how ever wan to keep all my music and photos which i have taken off and put onto the laptop. can any body tel me what i need to be keeping from the old 8 gig to move onto the new 32 gig like the cm mod 9 files/folders and what should i name the folders for music, videos and photos so that they appear where they should on the phone. cheers

First of all your question is not clear. and i would like to tell you that to make the new one work u do not need to do any modifications in the names of folders

the old memory card has loads of files from other phones its been in so dont want to be putting them on to the new memory card so ive took all photos music videos off the old memory card ready to put back onto the new memory card. i have files on the old memory card with busybox and xrecovery do i need to copy these over to the new memory card as well ?
i also had photos and music that i couldnt find on my phone but just found them on the memory old card as well so why did these not show up on my galaxy ?

if all your doing is moving photos and music over to the new card there is no need to transfer anything else, if your phone didn't find certain music files or photos i'd say its likely due to the format they are in.

I would like to suggest you to format the memory card u bought then put the media files u want in it and then insert in the phone. It will work and things will be shown in the gallary

Suggest:
Un-mount existing card & remove.
Format new card in the phone, not in your computer.
Add new folders:
DCIM/
DCIM/Camera/
Music/
Videos/
Copy across your photos and albums and any other important stuff. Make sure you transfer any nandroid or Titanium backups you may have kept on external SD card. Set camera to save pictures to external SD card if you wish.
This is what I did on upping to a 32GB card recently. Good luck!

New memory card creating camera issue - Please help!

Hi, I have recently bought a new memory card for my hd2. It's a SanDisk 8gb micro sdhc card.
I formatted in the phone then copied across all files from my old card on my PC. Everything is working fine, CoPilot long with other preinstalled apps as well as all the other .cab files I have downloaded over the last few months. With my MP3s loaded onto the card I have about 3gb left
The problem I have is when I load up my camera, it says I have enough space left for 5 more pictures! Tried switching storage location in settings, which changed to 23 (phone memory) and back again but I still have only 5 pics remaining - for some reason it won't see card properly but the rest of my phone functions fine. I took 5 pictures to see if it was just displaying wrong, but after 5 photos, I got memory full message
Please can someone help me resolve this issue!?! Thanks!
Try changing it to Phone Memory again, then reboot.
Then change it back, and reboot.
Does it change?
hi, thanks for the quick reply. just tried what you suggested but still no luck!
I've just deleted an old video from the DCIM folder on my memory card, which was 3mb and that has given me a few extra photos available.
it seems there is an upper size limit on the DCIM folder. Maybe I could transfer all my saved pics and vids to a different folder but that is quite annoying. Has anyone else come across the DCIM folder having an upper size limit? and would it be possible to increase this?

How big was the original card? The 2Gb one?
yeah it was the 2gb one, it came with the phone from O2. Forgot to say I'm running O2's 1.43 ROM
*bump*
Still no luck on this one short of clearing my DCIM folder on the SD card. Has anyone else had issues like this when using a new memory card?

I would try and remove the DCIM folder, and let the camera app recreate it.
Try out "Update for HTC HD2 SD Card Storage Cards" at: http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=0&dl_id=825

Can you guys share how you will be using your sd card?

I mean you read alot of people say having an sd card slot doesnt matter nowadays with android since you cant install apps to it, etc. Or can you? Can you save your photos taken with the s4 to it? What apps are available to fully utilize the sd card? If you can share how you plan on getting around any limitations.

Photos can be set to be stored on the external sdcard. I also (on my SGS2/and SGS3) have it so my nandroid backups go to the external sdcard. Downloaded files go to my external sdcard. I can also out movies/music/or whatever on my external sdcard and play them. I can also use "Root Explorer" to move anything I want from my internal sdcard and onto my external sdcard. Even with a 32Gb external sdcard and the 16Gb internal sdcard I find that I at times fill up my internal sdcard and have to move MANY files/folders from the internal to external. I haven't put ANY apps onto the external sdcard since my SGS1 and haven't had the need to ever. I have never filled the allotted app /data folder on my SGS2/SGS3 like I did on my SGS1. When I used the SGS1 and moved the apps it made them work slower and caused issues. Again never had it on my SGS2/3's. So NO need to worry about apps moving. I have over 180 apps and no issues (Including downloaded app and system apps). But having a removable sdcard for movies and music has been my best usage. As well I do A LOT of modding on my phone and it takes up a lot of room. So I transfer the files to my external for that as well.

Thats good to know, so I dont know what those people were talking about. As if the sd card was unusable.
Same here, I have over 180 apps and have no space issues when it comes to apps. I take a lot of pictures and record a lot of videos, and that takes more space than anything. I put all data, including backups, ROMs, pictures, videos, music, etc. On the external SD card. There's a ton of space left on my internal card, so for me a 16gb model with an external SD card works great.
I store 12 blue ray movies on my 64gb microsd. Should be enough to keep me busy flying overseas.
SDCARD
Can the 64GB SDCARDs be used with the s4?
First, only guys? 2nd, I'd like to have the ability to enter a 1 character password at the android lockscreen in CyanogenMod.
Lol OK.

Internal/SD storage mess

Hi everyone,
I got the latest Moto X as soon as it went public because I loved the idea of Vanilla Android with SD support. I got the 16 GB version and a 64 GB SD. Ever since I got it, the phone has been bugging me about the storage and today I finally gave in. Until today I kept my photos, music and podcasts on my SD card but the internal memory was constantly full and I couldn't install new apps. So I thought formatting the SD card under Android 6 would make it one with the internal storage. It didn't. It made it worse. I can move apps to the SD card but I can't force photos and other media to be saved there. I was hoping for internal-SD continuity and I got a total lack of control. So now I can't receive SMS and I keep having "storage is running out" notification while I still have 60 GB free on my SD card.
What's your take on this? Thanks!
Since this is about SD cards, I'm having another problem to state if OP doesn't mind. On my Moto X, when using exploring (using file explorer) the original sd card I've used for years, many folders do not show up. The same happens to a video player (RockPlayer), where it doesn't show many folders I have on my card (it did when used on my previous Atrix 2). However, when I go to "Storage & USB" and select the card, everything is normal. That means, only when viewing the sd card via "Storage & USB", all folders appear.
However, applications and games (besides gallery) will assume the first situation, where those folders remain invisible. Does anyone know what the problem actually is?
Edit: After checking, it seems that my /sdcard folder is the same as /storage/emulated/0.
Thank you.

Seems like my sdcard folder is now C601-8353 under Storage folder, along with Emulated and Self folders.

Have you tried using OpenCamera instead? It's free, open source, AND lets you choose where to store the pics. IMHO the picture quality is better too.
You could also move the pics to the card manually after you take them...

Great call, thanks for the tip.
I haven't had any problems saving photos or other media to my SD card with adoptable storage. This is something you should be able to specify in preferences whether you are using adoptable storage or not. If this doesn't work with some apps just use a file manager to move the files to the SD card.
Sometimes when I move apps to my SD Card, I would get similar messages about being out of space, even though this wasn't the case. Deleting the cache on SD card seemed to fix the problem. There can also be a problem if your SD card is too slow. However, you would probably get an alert if that was the case.
My advise erase it all internal and sd card start from a blank state the phone should give you the option to mount the sd as internal I don't like how it is implemented so I chose not to use it.
For some strange reason my phone will not read my SD card I have it formatted to internal stage and now it says searching for SD card. I'm so mad I've searched all over with no solution, I'm about to get a new phone and scrap this one, sorry I'm just very upset and I had to vent, of anyone knows of this type of issue please share.

I deleted all data from sd card and still little bit warm. What happen when i upload just 14gb music?
I tried 16gb sd card. Still problem. Heating..... exactly the same overheat.... in sd card have 3400 musics. About ~2GB free space in sd card.
Activate developer options and turn on CPU usage overlay.
I had a similar issue where gallery was constantly trying to index (or something) millions of files on my SDcard.
I was only able to fix it with a factory restore.
Classic case of Mediascanner. This issue has been around for years. Too many files on the MicroSD causes this. Mediascanner constantly indexes the MicroSD, and if there are too many files, it overheats, lags or even crashes.
Just drop a .nomedia file in every folder that doesn't need to show up in the Gallery. (You can find several of them already on the card or on the phone. if not, make an empty text file, delete the name and extension, and name it '.nomedia'.)
(Drop one in the folder with Music too, then use a music player that allows using hidden folders.)

transcript of the memory card.

Hello!
Please help me with the following problem ....
Rested prazniki in another city, and of course with my family take pictures and videos.
It was a memory card Kingston 64gb Class10 U-1
When revising the captured photos, those that did not like are removed immediately, in general, click the delete button and see no response, I pushed again and then noticed that since double clicked to remove Vesta with bad photos removed a very important video.Daby on arrival to try to recover through Handy Racovery remote video had to buy another card just a class above Kingston 64gb Class10 U-3.Vstavil and began to use (as an internal drive) But on arrival home insert the memory card into the card reader and found that the files can not see .... even I tried to re-insert the old card and go to custom rekaveri TWRP, did not help either, with strange names of folders and files they do not have ...
Ie when a new card vstvlyaesh asked to forget the memory card, and probably a new encrypt other keys ... and paste the old 58gb which is recorded and can not see it.
Maybe there kakaeto service which can be turned off anything ... If only pomoglo..Ochen important photos and videos.
Prompt please::
As with the previous card to pull photos and videos
Adopted (internal) storage is encrypted... if it's corrupt, it's gone, there is no recovery.
Just another example of why to NEVER use adopted storage, and ALWAYS use Google Photo to maintain online backups.
