8GB or 16GB difference? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a difference from these 2 models then just memory? The reason I ask is because like the nook tablet the 8GB model had less dev support (cause it was newer) and was slightly different internally between the two, thanks

There's no other difference.

Ok cool, thanks

ROM compatibility with 8GB version?

Im getting a N7 in a few days and im sure this has been asked before, but do all ROMs work with the 8GB version? Just wanting to make sure, because I saw a OP in a ROM thread that looked like it said it was for the 16 only. Excuse the n00btastic question, but I just want to make sure. Thanks. :good:
The Roms should work with all the nexus 7s. The only major difference between 16gb and 8gb versions is the storage.

I heard it was asus' way of trying to fix the screen lift.
But coking from someone who bought the 16gb model, I would recommend 32gb. You only get around 13 usable gb with the 16 version

Its not a fault it was a change in the manufacturing process. If you buy a 16gb model the screws will be missing too. But only you can answer the question about which model you should get. I would personally go for the 32gb since it has the most space but if you just use your tablet for internet browsing and social media then a 16gb model would be ok,

16 gb to a 32 gb logic board

If I exchange logic boards will it still work? I want to upgrade my memory and figured the memory is probably located somewhere on the logic board.

Anyone?

The logic boards are different and there have been changes made between the different revisions of the N7. You wouldn't be able to simply swap it out. There are schematics and tear-down pics of the 16GB, 32GB, and 32GB 3G version of the N7 that you can take a look at. Ultimately, your best bet would be to sell your 16GB so you can buy the 32GB.

Kingston and Sandisk are my ultimate choices when it comes to memory cards. I've never had problems so far with those.

Same here, been using mine since day one of the note 2 release.
No problems here, combined with directorybind I have all the space I need
So... should I or should I not buy a 64GB memory card?
Don't really wanna waste $80 on a Class 10 64GB if it'll just die. It's Sandisk btw.

you can buy, i am using this Sd and it is awesome...
$43 for amazon for me
The manual states that 64gb is supported, so it shouldn't be surprising really that it works.
The internal chip is a bi faster writing at about 17mb/sec whereas the Sandisk writes at about 10. Plenty for media storage
Im using mine (sandisk ultra 64g uhsi cl 10) for about 3 days now and its awesome.. fast..i recommend it m8. It was 50 euros for me from ebay

Please take note that sandisk has a lot of imitation cards out there. Some of the imitation looks more like original than the original in terms of packaging quality.
I anyways buy from shops only and verify its original by going to their website on the spot and checking out the look out signs for fake.
Fyi to date I found 3 shops selling imitation cards at original cards price.

One of my gallery videos no longer works on my 64gb card. Is this a sign of a problem or just a random balls up?

I have a 32 GB sandisk Ultra HC1 and have tried everything but keeps unmounting (gets message that says - sd card removed unexpectedly). Sucks so bad and is major pain in the ass, I have also ran a script to use sd card for internal memory but once it goes to sleep i have to resart phone to access it.

Moto x or Note 2 for upgrade

Hi Note 2 users. My upgrade is coming in about 3 months. What would you think would be a better upgrade for the next 2 years, moto x or note 2. I currently have the nexus s 4g so I am on sprint for fyi. I like the s-pen and the size of the note but I like some of the features of the moto x. Please help me decide. Thank you.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
Well I guess it depends if you want a bigger screen, a bigger processor, a bigger battery, upgradeable memory and an s pen?
If you do then it's the note 2 looks a bit of a no brainer to me?

Note 3
How long does the note 2 battery usually last for? And I can't afford the note 3.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
5-6 hours screen on time with 90-120 mins voice call on mixture of 2G + 3G + Wifi Connectivity. No other smart phone with so many features can beat that.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
I get about 2-3 hours of screen on time (due to signal strength), with a good amount of calls and always syncing data. Battery life on the Note 2 is still going to be better though.
The Moto X is newer, and although it's dual core processing, it's got a very good processor so I'd say it's more or less the same as the note 2 in processing power. But take that with a grain of salt as I haven't had the chance to play with the Moto X. The S-Pen is very useful. The Moto X for me is too small. But the ergonomics look great! Samsung has been updating their older phones for a while (even though slowly) so that's a point in their favor. Who knows how long Motorola will update the X, probably a while since they're market is the USA and raving about how great it is and how it's made there.
I can go on and on... but ... In the end, it's up to you! Which do you like more? I love my Note 2, and I'll upgrade to either the Note 3 or the Z1. I can't consider the Moto X due to the screen size. But they're both VERY capable phones and very good phones!
With all I have heard so far. I think I'm sold on the note 2. It has great battery and I like the size more than the moto x even though my phone right now is only 4inches.

I get a day of heavy use. My old phones, evo3d and hd2, would last about 4 hours with the same usage.
Price dependant I don't think you can beat the note 2. Once you've bought it post back with your thoughts

my phonw is awake 60% of the time, because of google maps and etc.
i just fixed the problem today. But still, my note 2 lasts an entire day with at least3:30 hours of screen on time on hdspa+ all day.
