Gathering LCD Infos - Hardware Hacking General

Hi
i got a huawei ideos x3 and i would like to know who is the manufacturer of the display and the touch screen...
My first try was to completely disassemble the phone and have a look...
but as i should have expected, there are no usable information on the parts.
or i was just unable to find something about it.
printing on the lcd says: W-TM032PDZ04-B-4A-110328.S1.ROHS
the touchscreen is printed on the glass: TCP32A84-V1BM-C7-MP
on the flexlayer: Synaptics 940-990-2R2 TM1714
i cant find any information on the net...
but isnt there a lcd_id tag in a config file which can be read?
because my device is in peaces i thought it would be a good idea to ask in a developer forum
if i am in the wrong subthread please feel free to move me
hope you can help me
thx

harryhirn:
The numbers that you given are most likely, the tested sub-assembly numbers. Huawei may use contract sub-assemblers to build up from the more basic component level. Component manufactures may place their part numbers on the 'working' side of the component, as seen by the assembler during the assembly operation. At the final product level none of these numbers may be seen.
Component mfg'ers are fond of placing their logos in an area that can be seen at the final assembly level. These may be of Chinese origin.
For what it's worth:
W-TM032PDZ04-B-4A-110328.S1.ROHS (upper level assembly number)
TCP32A84-V1BM-C7-MP (TCP = Tape Carrier Package plus assembly number)
Technology hint (www dot koe dot j-display dot com/upload/file/AN-006_LCD_Module_Construction_Methods.pdf)
Synaptics 940-990-2R2 TM1714
Synaptic hint, Series 1 (www dot synaptics dot com/solutions/products/clearpad)
Happy hunting.

Shift hardware pictures and dissasembly guide

Hello ppl,
I'm going to make a shift dissasembly guide, covering basic tips on how to dissasemble, how to upgrade various components and so on. I will include detailed pictures on how components are linked one to each other and so on.
My question is: what do you people want to see? If there are some of you who want pictures with a specific component, please reply or give me some ideas. I'll open the shift in 1-2 days so please come with suggestions.
Of course, the first 2 points on my agenda will be how to upgrade hdd and ram modules.

Remove the metal covers and take high quality picture of every chipset, where the model and manufacturer can be seen.
If you can identify how the touchscreen is connected (shared) between x86 and arm, that would be cool... we need to know if it is a serial or i2c bus, specially the x86 side.

Some people said that there is no connection between the SD card and SnapVUE. If SnapVUE needs to access the SC card, it may require direct soldering. I wish to see whether it is necessary or possible. Thank you.

I've got the ideea. I've opened a lot of stuff in my life, ranging from pda's to laptops but with the shift i'm a little nervous. Most of the htc devices i've dissasembled had some pretty weird casing connections.
I will also study how the hinges work and if the slide mechanism can be upgraded. Some ppl say it could. I'm also veeerry intrested to see how the display pannel and ram are connected to the x86 side and the ppc side.
I'll get to work in about 6 hours and when I'm done i'll open a new thread with the guide and photos.
can't wait to..

LCS screen question

Hi,
I have bought LCD Screen For HTC Touch Cruise .
When I went to the service, the guy who took my order observed that, ther is not one integrated circuit(or something else)(the place is marcked on the picture).
And the man wasn't sure if that piece should be there.
Can You tell my, if in the place which is marck on the pictures, should be some element?
Pictures are here:
http://rs118.rapidshare.com/files/166996515/pic.rar
ironicly the whole picture is clear EXCEPT the part youre pointing at.
sorry but i have no idea. you could look at the guide to replace the screen topic.
Polaris Service Manual
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Polaris
In this place is nothing. It seems to my that somebody has taken out some part.
If someone you know have the same type of LCD could you check if in this place ,which I have marked is something.

Service Manual for the Topaz?

I've seen the service manual of HTC Saphire (which isn't released yet) here on xda-developers.
Please if someone has the manual of Diamond2 - post it!

I have my topaz in about 20 pieces apart
I am trying to change it's front frame. I need to moved the touch sensor but it seems impossible to remove it.
Does anyone knows how to remove the touch sensor (it's the glass that is at front protecting the LCD display)
Thanks,

I didn't find the Service Manual, but you can try this:

It's in russian language. But Google Translator can help you to make it easier.
Hope it helps you

ver 2 and ver 3 screens

ok i have looked and looked but there was a thread that showed how to tell the 2 apart but it is locked or gone now
how to tell the two apart and i dont mean just by the hdwr ver.
i have
hdwr 3 ( the latest )
grey/charcoal pearlized back ( from the 002 it seems )
a battery that shows no gold stripes ( from the latest it seems )
a samsung sd card ( from the latest )
and the screen??
i do get the power control widget to control and my screen seems to change instantly ( meaning poss epson ) unlike the fade control
but i have part it seems from both 002 and 003 so id like to see somewhere in the phone what the screen has
oh and the build from the batter cover is 4/21 so im stumpped here
so can anyone tell me how to tell what lcd i have and how to get the 30fps fix??
mt
this should be in Q&A
found it I have epson screen
so far my evo seems perfect no screen raising issues and great colors
mt
No offense, but there are threads all over this forum that covers everything you asked and talked about. Do a search and you'll find it.

like i posted i found it
i searched this forum all over and i kept finding a related post but the link would direct to a blank page with the post not found, thanks but i found the complete instructions on how to use android sdk to firn the evo txt to determine the correct screen on ANOTHER forum,
so the thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708811&page=3
contains this link for so called help to ascertain the way but it is broken so offers no help at all
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6919950&postcount=562
so before you slam me and ask me to search, I did i did that in fact and found notta here on that, so about 45min later on google i did.
if a forum is a guide and a place for help why are there so many that dont and resort to making someone have to run looking for the elusive answer
this is what i found when i search for
how to find out epson screen or novatel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=39275143
this is what i found when i search
how to determine screen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=39275199
i could go on, it may be here but my point is it didnt find it instead i got was smart A$$ answers telling me to look which is exactly what i did in the first place
now if anyone wants to know the directions to determine wht real screen the have not based on hdwr versions here it is i dont mind sharing or even re-posting. i know sometimes searches can be often down to the correct words and not everyone will land on them all the time, i sure didnt. besides im here to help rather than bash

and also here
http://forum.smartphonejunkie.com/article/tutorial-evo-4g-how-check-your-003-screen-type-59/
i just hope this helps
Another option is to download terminal emulator from the market. Type dmseg and hit enter. Then select menu and email the results to yourself. Then scroll towards the bottom half and if you see Epson that's what you got.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
We still haven't established whether Epsen or Novatek is the better screen.
I'm having a hard time deciding wether to return my EVO and try and get the Epson screen. The screen is way brighter and more visible in sunlight with the Novatel but the color accuracy is better on the Epson. The Epson also has a screen tearing issues when you remove the 30fps cap whereas the Novatel does not. I am usually a stickler for good color accuracy but in this case i'm not sure I will be happier with the Epson screen. Still have a few more days to decide...but can't seem to make up my mind.

Thanks for the links, I can put a checkbox in "learned something today" (The BFS description actually made me laugh).
To the OP:
You might want to be a bit more specific, a generalized list of all electronic abbreviations related to hardware would....probably make a dictionary look small. If you want PC hardware, that's one list. Networking, another. Integrated circuitry, a third. etc.
