Try this:
http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
And leave connect as media device ticked.
It must be really hard to use forum search...

that too....but I find it much easier to use file transfer...
I have no Mac computer so I cannot validate if it's true, but that seems to be a standalone app which does not integrate seamlessly and transparently into Finder.
As such other apps do not understand how to use it as a real mass-storage device, making it impossible to provide the usual conveniance.
Furthermore it requires a dedicated app on the computer which might not be possible on work- or shared computers.
Cheeky! I did do a search and couldn't see anything.
Yes, filetransfer works a treat. But it has to be in Camera (PTP) mode not MTP.
It's really fast too.

i'm looking for a program that can allow me to see a phone's screen on my windows pc, but not through usb or anything, just over the internet.
Logme In has it and it works well
https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/Mobile/Home.aspx
logmein rescue is a nice web app, I've tried it out before and it does work. I don't use it anymore, I'm still looking for a cheaper/free alternative. MyMobiler is all i've got for now, but thats only a local connection (usb, bluetooth, lan).
yeah i'm definitely looking for something free... something that has a client on the pc and a host on the pda or something in that direction.
Mobilecontrollers does this, but it's not for free.

Use My Mobiler - http://www.mtux.com/
For what your looking for, you need to check out Z2Remote2PC. It offers that type of connectivity. I tried it but unsuccessful, and the company doesnt offer a detail guide on how to do it! I belive it may be hard because your carrier may block that connection.
Is there any way I can sync the two up even though they're operating on different a O/S? I'm not that computer savvy, so please, be easy on me. I tried plugging it into my Macbook using the USB cable, but nothing happens. When I plugged it into my roommate's PC, everything worked fine. But I'd like to be able to get my pictures, calendars, and everything else sync'd up to my phone, is it possible to do this with a Macbook? Or am I going to have to get rid of my X1?
Never used it myself, but I heard The Missing Sync is an ok option.
There might even be a few others. Here, let me Google that for you.
You can try Eltima Syncmate,
(I use it on my iMac)
They have a free version as well as an Expert edition.
The free version is enough to sync, but if you want to activate the expert functions (which are very handy) you need to buy a license.
Regards,
EqX
Syncmate is best in my opinion, buy the expert edition, its worth every penny, the missing sync gave me a kernel panic as soon as i plugged in my x1
i just wish SE would make a SEUS application for os x too
Thanks guys. What are some of the expert functions that the free version doesn't have? I don't really be constrained by having a Macbook of everything I can do with this phone using a PC.

There is a detailed list on Etima's site.
(besides, all the goodies that are expert, are also listed in the freeware version with the tag: expert, so you see what you miss).

This site is too good
You got X1 as gift...
Why i have no such relative? XD
heh, I'm just lucky I guess.
I downloaded syncMate, but it doesn't look like I can access the phone's memory through my macbook. Is this possible?
Well mate if you have an installer of windows xp/vista, you can install it in your macbook using bootcamp. its easy to install and yes you will used to for your x1 without any hassle.

What exactly do you mean with "phone memory"?
You can attach your X1 as a drive to your mac, and it will appear as a disk.
Or you can sync contacts/iCal/mail/etc in any way you wish..
You can even browse the sms conversations (expert)..

EqX
I only have the basic version, but it doesn't let me browse the contents of my x1 on my macbook. I plugged it in, and it doesn't show up as a disk, nothing shows up at all under my list of devices when I plug it into my macbook. Do I need the full version?

Nah, you probably set the device to connect as drive, you need to let it connect through "activesync".
Eltima will start up as soon as it detects a device.

Hi,
Is it possible to show the image of the nexus on my computer screen ?
My computer is Wifi-n capable.
If it is, does the software exist to do that ? I didn't find anything, maybe i'm using the wrong words...

Yes, u need to use a program like serviio http://www.serviio.org/ (there are more dlna media server out there.. just google free dlna server). This program uses DLNA. Install that on ur PC and make sure ur computer and phone is connected to the same network.
for more info go to
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqu7BPqjo4s
If u don't see DLNA on ur phone, u might need to DL an app that enable DLNA on ur Nexus 4 (imediashare is a good app)
Thans for you answer, but i am looking for a solution that displays the whole smartphone screen - not just a way to share multimedia content.
This is possible with miracast through a compatible TV, but i was wondering if software could make a computer do the same.

By DLNA, what it does is just show pictures, play musics and videos right?
what if I want to mirror whatever I do on the device? because I'm currently doing my final year project and was thinking of buying a Nexus 4 to use the Wireless Display feature (to my laptop which then connected to a VGA projector) for my presentation.

Tried it, it's VNC, not that fast but that should be sufficient. Thanks ^^ was really hoping for Nexus 4 Wireless Display to work on computers though, would make life somewhat easier for me XD
Anyone know if it's possible to use the WiDi in the phone to show its display on a WiDi compatible laptop? I know the laptop WiDi chip is designed to send the signal, but surely it can receive too?

I'm pretty sure itt can't. But I think it would probably be possible to do so with any computer with wifi n, and the right software. The question is, does that software exist ?
Hi all,
I have used mymobiler and another one (cant recall) and find none of them reliable. Needs reboot of the PC or some different kind of circus to see the phone screen on the PC.
I wanted to make a youtube video showcasing few themes etc.. but unable to find a reliable app.
What do you use in here, whats a good one that i can use?

look for "phone screen sharing" in samsung apps. there you'll find the mobile client!
there are also versions for all kind of PC's "floating" around, as normally the PC client is only for certain samsung models.
otherwise this tool works great!

Is your phone rooted? If so, I use VMLite VNC Server.
Just wanted to add, VMLite VNC Server works without rooting. Regular Note 3 works just fine, you will need a free desktop program to start the server, though. Once vnc server is running, you can use a vnc viewer on pc to view and control the android phone, and record a movie. etc.
