It didn't even hit the market until today, and most people are at work.
It'll take a day or two, but it'll come. I may be purchasing tonight (not guaranteed), and I'll start work on CM10 - with CWM coming first.
Doing it PROPERLY will take a few days especially since I have a visitor coming this weekend.

CWM root method for GT-N8000 is 100% compatible with wifi version, just confirmed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831152
Right now my focus will be, for N8013:
Do system dump of all system content with read permissions (this is almost everything, but missing a few files)
Root the system dump, package as Odin/Heimdall-flashable
Flash rooted dump
Use rooted dump to obtain a dump of all partitions (this enables obtaining a raw stock image of recovery and kernel - The Euro devices already have firmware packages available, US devices often have to dump stock firmware from devices.)
From there, the kernel work starts
I'll be picking up my device tonight, assuming that it doesn't sell out.
what about the n8010 version.

So I got this tab from a friend for free and need to make it better.
First I need to figure out the teems I'm reading in development. I see things like p4 and p4wifi. According to my settings this is a GT-P7510. Does that = a p4wifi?
Second I know how to root (have a GS3) but not sure which rom is the one I want. I'm thinking of going to JB, but I've read something about updating the boot loader. I haven't seen any threads on that though.
Any help you could give would be great.
Yes gt-7510 = p4wifi
And if you want jelly bean you need to flash the newest recovery. You can find them all with instruction on this site: droidbasement.com

Hello TPT community,
I Just got this tablet mainly because of the included digitizer and was wondering if anyone could give me a guideline on how to speed things up for this tablet. The tablet came with honeycomb 3.1 included and I am finding it pretty sluggish and unresponsive in general tasks. I went into settings to do a software update but it seems there is no 4.0 update available. There doesn't seem to be a toggle for pen only input in the settings either. Is the normal process for flashing a new Rom to root, then install CWM, and flash Roms?
I'm kind of a n00b here, but that is the right process in general.
For you, there should be a 4.0 update, but you might have to try a few times. After you are running ICS (4.0) you can root and load Koshu's JB rom.
Aren't there problems with rooting ICS?

Sorry, I need more coffee...
Is this a wifi only tablet or a 3g tablet? What region is it?
I attached the info in a picture. I dont know how to find out what region or wifi/3g it is though. I don't have a sim to test it. I got it from here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7473177&CatId=6845
It is wifi only, also found this interesting thread - http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-slate-tablets/thinkpad-1839-update/td-p/975085
Apparently the Tiger Direct refurb is a custom SKU and is SUPPOSEDLY not upgradeable... tho I would think there are ways around that. At least now I know what we are working with here.

You can root your tablet and go straight to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 or 4.1.2. It's fast and cool! The only little bug is with wifi!

The wifi bug actually isn't that big, just set wifi to always on like suggested. As far as the tampered drivers error, you will probably have to : a) search for a way to install unsigned drivers on win8
or b) use a winxp/win7 pc.
Be careful tho... flashing after having stock ICS is needed for a reason.

I was worried you were gonna try to just jump straight to JB.
Hey there,
well one way is to try flashing the upgrade directly but like da_reeseboy already mentioned, there is a high possibility that it will fail. Only other way would be to flash the bootloader directly (that most likely the part, that keeps the JB kernel from booting on non ICS kernels) but there is a high bricking chance and eventually the firmware for some of the hardware needs to be updated, too, to work properly.
It looks like there's hope - this guy has the same weird software version as you - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37487649&postcount=6. He used the directions in that thread to upgrade to ICS.

Just trying to think outside the box (noob style), what if he:
1. Installed CWM
2. Restored a clean 0075 nandroid from someone here on xda
3. Restored stock recovery
4. Checked for OTA to ICS
In my mind the software version is what is holding him back from updates, so I'm thinking that restoring an 0075 nandroid will put him in a position to get the update correctly... but I am still new to this so I could be WAY off.

Hi folks,
Anyone in the know, please correct me if I'm wrong or close this thread or whatever. I just wanted to share some stuff I've seen as well as my personal experience with the new 4.2 update.
Be warned: There doesn't seem to be a surefire way to root and/or install a custom recovery yet.
This is based on advice I saw on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38992986&highlight=sit+tight#post38992986
I know this has been stated in existing threads but I figure that in the excitement to flash, some folks may grab the update and then look to older 4.1-based guides on how to root and install custom recoveries only to realize that they can't. I thought it might be beneficial to post a big fat thread right up front to serve as an easily viewable cautionary note.
I would normally say that I was burned by this excitement, but in fact I don't really mind because right now I'm mostly just using it to read books and Pocket-ized webpages. Others should take note though.

Good to know. Would you say it's safe to "downgrade" to a previous version or even a different ROM then, or would the changed partition structure screw with the ability to do a clean wipe? Apologies if this is a n00b-sounding question.
Locked, Rooted, Factory reset, 4.2.1 OTA flashed, Still have root
I was locked and rooted on 4.1 with OTA root keeper installed and did a factory reset folowed by the 4.2.1 OTA and root keeper restored root. I have been rooted since ICS. This seems to be the only way right now to have rooted 4.2.1 on the TF300T.

So you have a rooted 4.2.1 Asus ROM?? I wonder if OTA Root keeper would work with installing the update via fastboot. Or wait, how did you install the OTA 4.2.1? If you are rooted you must be unlocked, thus, not receiving the OTA update and having to download the blob from asus website.

I rooted ICS on a locked TF300T when I first received it. Yes....it was possible to root locked ICS at that time. Then with OTA root keeper, I kept root when 4.1 OTA happened. Then OTA 4.2.1 came and I retained root again with OTA root keeper....I am still locked so I still receive Asus OTA updates.
With new twrp 2.4.4.0, you guys now can install root and custom recovery. It is tested by me and other people :good:

Finally Found A Way To Unbrick The Tab, Which Requires Mainboard Replacement!
As You Know, If You Have Installed Wrong TWPR Recovery On 4.2 Update, And By Accident Have Erased Recovery Partition, Then You Would Have A HARD-Bricked Tab Which Showed: "Unrecoverable Bootloader Error"
In This State, Asus Support Center Required You To Pay (As You Are Unlocked) To Replace The Mainboard!!!
Finally, One Of Our Friends Found A Solution, Here Is The Link, I Just Wanted To Spread The Word...
It Saved My TF300T, Which Has Been Turned Off For 6 Months!
Here Is The Link, Just Be Patient And You Will Recover Your Tablet

it could easily recover my tab, which was supposed to be sent to Asus next week
it's a milestone, greatly helped...
wow. my post seemed to be the phoenix essence for al lot of tabs (without the need to burn something down)
After Reading it again - my solution is not only for a bad recovery partition - its for any PIT related errors (bad flash - which was my case) etc.
cheers and GL

wrong recovery can always be flashed with another one if fastboot works.
if only recovery is your problem no need to go back to stock. but on most cases it's the best way to get a clean start.

what if you can't get into recovery and only APX?
I tried installing CWM (for CM11) over an 2.6.0.0 TWRP (4.2) with 10.6.15.3 and no go!
I'm stuck with APX only.
Any ideas? I've tried NVFLASH but can't fix 64bit drivers that work properly. Naked 0.73 didn't either. I can only get the Asus Transformer Prime APX to work properly.

are you sure its apx?
also for cm11 based roms for the tf300t you need a special recovery (check the omnirom thread - thats the one im using, scannos twrp 2.6.3.0)
you cant run cm11 with older recovs since the PITs changed apparently (haven't read the man pages yet) but thats what i understood out of the omni thread
nvfalsh only works if you backed up your device prior bricking.

So it is a really good idea to backup your device prior to bricking it , to backup your device, use flatline (google it. sorry for not providing the link, this forum does not allow me to post links yet)

As far as I can tell Vol+ gets me the black screen and recognized as a device in Windows 7 x64 as an ASUS APX Interface. I tried replacing the driver with every combination of NVIDIA, Google, Android SDK, Naked .72/.73 and no go. I've also tried ADB drivers and no luck there either.
Vol- doesn't bring up anything - screen just stays at ASUS logo. I dont get the recovery menu and can't get into TWRP (original) or CWM (after attempting to install). My mistake for not just sticking with TWRP (previously on 2.6.0.0) and using the scannos version.
It basically gets to the Device is Unlock, ASUS and NVIDIA logo and doesn't proceed further.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
with the logos are there also 3(or 4) icons?

neither - i dont ever get to that.
Same here - stuck at the first ASUS logo - in the left corner "the device is unlocked" and right corner the Nvidia logo.
Vol+ and power or Vol- and power - no effect.
I flashed an old recovery using adb commands in a newer twrp so is there any way to fix this?????
