1. Go into the Windows Phone Marketplace.
2. Go into the LG apps store.
3. Get the Network Setup app.
4. Go into the app.
5. Make sure it shows your proper network profile.
6. Tap on "Tap here to accept changes and restart your phone."
And now you have internet sharing on your LG Optimus 7.

Anyone know how to get this to work on Telus? I followed the instructions and when I try to turn it on, it says "Connection not shared; There's a problem with the current settings."
That's the same thing happening to me too ....
TELUS firmware on LG Optimus 7
TELUS hasn't supplied the firmware update to enable internet sharing on the LG Optimus 7 (E900h).
I just got the 8773 update today, no internet sharing option. Grabbed the network setup app, it selected At&t, restarted, still no internet sharing option Am I missing something?

I just made it work today. No Telus update has included the firmware update required to make it work, so you need to flash with another E900h ROM that includes the firmware update. The only significant change I can see is that when your phone turns on it will have another carrier's logo instead of Telus'. It goes without saying that this may void your warranty.
Here's my post with a couple notes on the process after I made it work, read it carefully and you can piece together the rest of the details from the rest of the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29172373&postcount=66
I might consider writing a formal tutorial of the process when I get some time.

Who can we write to at Telus to get them to release a firmware update for internet sharing?

Which firmware did you take ?
Related
I tried different machines before I sorted the connectivity problem to establish connection to my device until finally my PC can recognise my device.
Now comes the next headache, after getting the connection established I clicked on firmware upgrade - it came up and displays some updates are available -
it shows my current version as:
(PDA)JE9/(Phone)JE9
available update as:
(PDA)JF4/(Phone)JF4
When clicked on 'proceed' - it brings up some warning for me to make sure they are fixed before I proceed further like power cables connected and some warning of not removing or doing anything during upgrade, after I check 'agree' it starts the download by letting me know that the binary files for the new firmware is being downloaded and after the dowload there seems to be a wait creating impatience for us as to what next...after a few seconds I can see the message above the progress bar saying that the upgrade process has begun..
I can see the screen on my SGS display come with the android logo on some work (like road construction work) and the message telling upgrade in progress do not disconnect...it stays in that state for around a minute...no progress in the progress bar....Now suddenly the PC says 'failed to convert to upgrade mode, try later' and even after stopping my phone continues to show the frozen screen with 'upgrade in progress' (getting us confused and scared and dont know if I can unplug - will this brick my device all sorts of question) until I shut down my SGS and reboot to see it is normal as before but whenever I connect for the firmware upgrade all that I know is I am pending new upgrade.
I am stuck and can't proceed further - I tried it many times with many machines no luck. Please anybody suggest a way out.
Some info on my device: Bought in UK, sim free phone from Singapore Singtel as I see the operator's animation in the startup screen.
Other details on firmware:
PDA:I9000DXJE9
Phone:I9000DXJE9
CSC:I9000OLBJE9
In the settings 'About Phone' carries details:
Version: DXJE9
Kernel: [email protected]# (does this mean the device is rooted already?)
I have another question since I saw somebody mention in another thread that whether he/she should do a european firmware upgrade or asian firmware upgrade - I still confused by this question as well, which upgrade will be pushed to you if you are using Kies as it is just one same application made available for download globally.
somebody please help me with the upgrade issue.
isn't there any dev who can help me on this, it looks like i am the only one experiencing this!!!
I don't think many people are getting the upgrade options via kies at the moment.
I'm not seeing it on UK JF3
so hope, there isn't an issue with my device. I am weary because this was purchased from an online site but purchased the device after checking it personally.
One more question, will an unlocked phone get locked after any new firmware updates?
Are sim free and unlocked phones follow different philosophy ie., after unlocking a phone does that become a sim free phone forever.
Second question, how does the OTA update work - if you are not tied to a service provider - does samsung send these directly to all sim free phones automatically, looking and searching for IMEI numbers? and will a rooted phone be allowed to upate to froyo or any official update (for example) via the official Kies?
thanks
There isn't any offical firmware updates, via Kies, and or any other method.

Pls dont give wrong information. If you are suggesting something make it elaborate and clear.
I have clearly mentioned that I can see my current version as: (PDA)JE9/(Phone) JE9
Update available version:
(PDA) JF4/(Phone) JF4
thats what is displayed via Kies. I am also aware from this forum that some people can see the update whilst others dont see any.
Having said that, I was asking a techy questions as to whether a OTA upgrade or a upgrade via Kies from Samsung still happen if the phone is rooted and also if the phone is sim free and not attached to any service providers will the OTA upgrade will happen if so, is it based on IMEI number that will automatically be tracked OTA.
S
I was wondering if anyone found a solution to this problem? I am having the same problem.
I'm looking at this also.
after following this: (oh great, can't post links)
I had a problem updating to the official Foyo via Kies.
Finally got my PC to recognise the phone then started the update.
Phone screen went all green part way through and nothing was happening for about 20 mins so unplugged.
Phone would switch on but came up with a little picture on the screen and thats it.
so got it updated to JPM by booting into download mode and using odin. Took 5 mins once I downloaded all the files.
I just updated my LG optimus 7 to 7.8 a few sec ago. here are the pictures to prove it and of course the link on how to do it (i cant post the link so just copy it in to your browser). So, after all, seems like all WP7 devices are getting this update!

Can't get my phone to update
Hi,
Thanks for the tips, however I can't get my LG Optimus E900 to update.
I have tried the force update method and also the manual cab method but the manual cab method backs up the phone and installs the cabs, then fails with an error saying no applicable package...
Any further ideas on how I can update my device? It's a European LG Optimus E900 model if that makes any difference.
Thanks

I have a European Optimus and i forced the update.Just follow the steps provided in the link.
Hi, thanks however I have tried the force update method several times as well as ensuring all the cabs are in as per the manual update instructions including ensuring the right language packs are there but still get exactly the same error as before.. no applicable packages... guess I'll have to give up for the time being and try again in a couple of weeks or so...
E900H: Update went smoothly, even if I had to use the disconnect trick (force update). I had an Internet sharing option form another ROM, and it was not removed for the simple reason that when you use an other carrier ROM, it's this one that's get updated, leaving all the functions and features like they were before.
Unlock is removed by the way but seems that you can get it back with MFG.
I hope also that SIP (VOIP) is now available with 7.8 because it's what I am really missing from IOS or Android!
What has 80072FA8 error or just no update found!
On this time I tried a long time update with disconnect trick. But... no updates.
NOW... from FIRST time update was found!
Solution:
yeah... first of all good things happen to UK. So we will use UK proxy.
Go to Settings - mobile network , then edit apn. In "APN, Username, Password" I typed my provider settings. In "Proxy server/URL" type 109.169.40.229 and in "Proxy port" type 8080. Here Done.
Next step: in computer STILL connected internet, in phone wifi is disconnected.
And last step: in Zune click update. Waiting about ~2 minutes, because proxy is very slow.
Result:
Thanks for UK proxy
Got it! from Colombia with a euro open optimus7.
Tried starting from 2 second of wait between push "update" and disconnecting internet, incrementing by half seconds every step, I got it at the 6th attempt, with 4,5 seconds between click "update" and disconnect internet (I disconnected from internet pulling out the power plug of the ethernet hub connected to my computer)
Good luck to everybody, I go to enjoy my new WP7.8! ..and to update my sign
Edit: I got 3 updates, the first, left the phone still with WP7.5, the second too, the third effectively updated the phone to WP7.8, the right update have this build number:
7.10.8858.136
Plugged it in, surprise surprise update available
Country:Hungary
Carrier free
Sent from my YP-GI1 using xda app-developers app
I just got it to work using the unplug method, I'll be keeping this phone a bit longer now

i was lurking online stores for a new wp8 device but suddenly something told me, y u no check xda?
so after many attempts, force update worked and currenlty being installed on my solid rock e900!
thanks 4 saving me 300€ xda & friends ! :good:
Just installing!
Just installing the update now.
I have a German LG E900, running on a UK Talkmobile (MVNO of Vodafone)! No wonder I had to force update!
I tried loads of things, and on the verge of giving up, when I used the UK Proxy tip, earlier in the thread. (Even though I am already in UK!)
I also noticed by doing that that I didn't even have an APN.... maybe that had something to do with it.
Anyway, the FIRST time I used the UK proxy, it found the update. However the update failed because I didn't switch the internet back on my laptop.
So...
1. Switch Wifi off on your phone, but leave data on (using UK Proxy as earlier in thread)
2, Internet ON your PC/Laptop, then open Zune and check for updates. If no update is found then carry on to step 3
3. Click update again, then after 3 seconds or so, disconnect internet from your PC
4. repeat steps 2-3 until it finds an update.
5. Once it finds an update, make sure you switch the internet back ON your laptop/PC, otherwise you'll have to repeat all over again!
Thanks to everyone for the tips. Good work. I assume my phone will be working ok, I will post an update if any problems.
Cheers
My LG E900 now are Windows Phone 7.8 (OS Version 7.10.8858.136).
Updated by tweaking server with disconnecting router cable 5sec after clicknig Update button .
Enjoy!
i keep getting an error saying it cant search for an update, i tried two different computers, no luck, i tried the force update by switching off wifi, still no luck. Can someone help? thanks
I also try to update my phone.
First I tried with the cable trick. This did not work. I always got the 801812DC error which is refering to not be able to create a backup.
I hard reset the phone as recmmended but no result.
I checked the back up directory bt nothibg was in.
I tried on a fresh PC.
I tried with the tool from windowsphonehacker, the so called seveneighter.
I tried different USB ports
I tried different USB cables.
All are giving me the same 801812dc error.
Is there any other possibility? I also contacted LG but as I bought the phone as a used one I have no official bill. Therefore I can not prove it is not already out of warranty.
Please anny suggestion would be helpfull.
I had the same error when I update to 7.5. At this time I downgraded via a cab file from teh forum and then everything as working normally via Zune.
It's just time temping and patience. Beleive me, but if you have no patience, try to use this tool: LINK at your own risk!

This process does work! just a few extra notes on my experience
I have sim free UK LG E900 with Giff Gaff sim
For a successful upgrade process I had to;
First delete the giff gaff APN info and create a new apn with just the IP address and port info on page 1
I then had to reboot phone with new apn info
The timing of disconnecting the internet from the windows PC is critical , I have a laptop, with a combination of Function Key and F11 I can disable wireless pretty much instantly , if you disconnect to soon you get the update service is not available error , if you disconnect to slowly you get the Phone is upto date no update required problem , it seems to be somewhere between 2- 3 seconds ( I used to old 1000, 2000, 3000 counting method :silly: and it is somewhere between 2000 and 3000)
In total I had to update 3 times (as per previous post ) in order to get 7.8
But now thanks to the above technique I have a LG E900 at Windows 7.8 :good:
Before I start, I just want to say I make no guarantee this will work for you. It worked for me, and maybe it will work for others, possibly it requires some very specific conditions as outlined below.
I'm in Canada and my phone is on Rogers who is notoriously slow at rolling out updates. I've seen discussion around here about upgrading using ODIN, but I didn't want to lose my data -- I just wanted to install the upgrade as per usual. In Canada everyone has the same model of S6/S6 Edge and the exact same firmware is installed (byte-for-byte identical). So the only thing stopping me is that Samsung/Rogers have not made it available to me yet.
Using a program called Fiddler (free -- I used the .NET4 version), I started looking at the traffic sent to Samsung's servers from the Smart Switch application on my PC. As it turns out, it's just XML identifying various things about my phone. One of those things is "device local code" which matches my carrier: RWC.
Looking at Samsung Updates I noticed that Telus (TLS) has a firmware for 6.0.1 (PC5) and also formerally had the same firmware I was on 5.1.1 (OJ7).
Okay, onto the good stuff. Using FiddlerScript (a tab above the right-side in Fiddler), I added the following to the OnBeforeRequest function to change my reported "device local code" to Telus:
Code:
if (oSession.uriContains("NF_DownloadBinaryInform")){
oSession.utilReplaceInRequest("RWC", "TLS");
}
And then I added the following to the OnBeforeResponse function to change the response back from Telus to Rogers:
Code:
if (oSession.uriContains("NF_Download")){
oSession.utilReplaceInResponse("TLS","RWC");
}
Now I loaded up Smart Switch and I see an Update button. Next, I click Update and go through a few screens until it starts downloading the 6.0.1 update. Once the download started, I found I needed to close Fiddler, or else it would eventually error out.
Finally, the phone rebooted into Download Mode and Smart Switch installed the upgrade. :good: Afterwards, everything is working fine and it looks as if it was a legitimate upgrade from Rogers (Rogers apps, no Telus apps).
I hope someone find this information useful and maybe they can prepare it into an easier to use format. Again, if you try it, don't blame me if something goes wrong -- you're on your own.
Hi, has anyone tried this? Using an S10+ and it's also not updating, hoping to try this.
Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to read and respond
I got a Verizon sm-g930v Galaxy s7 and my service is through T-Mobile.
I currently have Verizons very recent nougat 7 release with security patch of February 1, 2017 and baseband G930VVRU4BQA2.
I have 2 issues which might be related and I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to do it and if it is at all possible.
1) my lte speed is crap and service inside buildings is awful. I read that there are ways to unlock the bootloader but couldn't find how to do it on my phone.
2) no ussd codes work even after factory reset, every single ussd code I put (even the one to view imei) says ussd running and then says connection problem or invalid mmi.
Is it possible to flash T-Mobile nougat firmware on my phone? Will it unlock the bootloader to allow me to unlock all lte bands?
Is there another better way to solve the above issues?
Thanks for your help!

1. find/download the firmware you want to install on your phone (can find at updato.com)
2. extract the files from the firmware file to a folder
3. download/install Samsung Smart Switch
4. backup your phone settings with Samsung Smart Switch (if you have a memory card, maybe be good to remove that and back it up on PC, probably faster this way than thru Samsung Smart Switch)
5. install the latest version of Odin on your PC, open it
6. select BL/AP/CP/CSC buttons then select the matching file (BL for BL_xyz file, etc) - if you use the HOME_CSC file you will NOT have any tmobile specific features (Wifi Calling) enabled/appear, you must use the regular CSC file to add/enable these features
7. in Odin, select OPTIONS and make sure that only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are checked
8. put the galaxy s7 phone in download mode (turn off....while off press VolumeDown+Home+Power until a blue screen appears, press VolumeUp button to enter download mode)
9. connect the galaxy s7 phone to the PC (you should see a blue icon appear under ID:COM afterward)
10. hit START in Odin to begin the process
11. when the process is complete (PASS appears in Odin status window) the galaxy s7 will reboot and begin to install the update
ISSUE - if the phone boots to recovery mode, dm-verity verification failed....DO NOT PANIC....simply put the phone back in download mode, connect it to the PC, and in Odin ONLY select the AP file....install only that file and let the device restart, it should boot to the user menu)
NOTES - while the device is booting to the user menu, it may sit at the Tmobile splash screen an extended amount of time the initial time - please let it sit for a few minutes, and it will boot to the user menu (subsequent restarts don't have a long delay at Tmobile screen)
12. after it boots to the user menu, connect the galaxy s7 to the PC, and restore the phone using Samsung Smart Switch

Thank you, I finally got to doing it. It was easy and I now have T-mobile OS on the phone, all Verizon stuff is gone and USSD codes now working. It seems like I was able to select all LTE bands, speed is a bit better indoors but not amazing.
Is there a reason to fully root the phone? and can someone explain what benefits would I have from rooting at this point?

Rooting gives you full control over the phone. Think Windows "Administrator" account.
Some things that a rooted phone can do is fully disable and uninstall stock & carrier Bloatware, install true ad blocking services, firewall control.
But, with that kind of power, it's way easier to brick your phone, or kill the performance of the device if you start changing things that shouldn't be changed.
Thank you

This is an old thread, so I am hoping on some newer information. I have been using a Verizon Galaxy S7 on T-Mobil for about a year. This past week we were in the Lake Michigan area and I found that my wife's A21 got much better reception in several areas. I have been reading here about the g930U firmware as well as the ability to flash to the current T-Mobile ROM.
I do not need to revert back to Verizon, but I need wifi calling and all the bands that are available from T-Mobile. Can just flashing to the T-Mobile for Android 8 work for me?

Just flashed to the most recent t-mobile firmware on my Verizon phone successfully. Thanks to information on this thread!
@dlbeaty what did you use to flash to most recent t-mobile firmware? I have G930V Oreo I am trying to use on T-Mobile and having same issues. Would like to try to flash to resolve as well. Thanks!
Hi,
I have a Verizon S7 and I want to permanently use it in Europe, France specifically.
I put a French SIM in and can place calls, but internet did not initially work, however, I did not try to change APN settings.
My question is, is there a specific firmware I can download that will put the latest updates on there and allow future updating on a non-Verizon network? If so, which firmware would that be? I'd prefer to have all Verizon stuff removed, too.
Finally, by default, French is not in language support, but I'd like to add that, if possible.
You can flash firmware from G930U model that is unlocked version for US
Thanks. Do I need to set boot pin or anything? I saw some threads saying you have to set boot pass or pin before you flash.
Also, will there be a way to do system updates? I mean, like updating to nougat?
Hello,
i'm in the same situation than you.
Please, can anyone provideme a link to the exact rom to flash in this moment (i found broken links and obsolete roms)
If I understand correctly this is that I need to do:
1-install samsung drivers and Odin 3.12
2-Flash rom g930u(need your help to provide me) without modifying any odin settings
3-Enjoy
this is ok?
Many thanks

Hi,
I have a Verizon S7 and I want to permanently use it in Europe, France specifically.
Finally, by default, French is not in language support, but I'd like to add that, if possible.

hey @H0wdy, i know this is a month late but here goes:
This is what I would do if you were you
-download and extract the zip I attached on a link at the bottom, extract it, and open up Samfirm program, plug in your phone in download mode i believe please double check the original linked thread (hold volume down + home + power for 7 seconds ) put in your phone model SM-G930V and put XAA as region
-next it will search for the latest international update for your phone and click download, (make sure auto decrypt is on) this take a little while to download and then decrypt, but you should end up with a zip file on your desktop containing G930U files (which i happened to upload for you anyhow, but if case you dont want to download the uiversal rom, i uploaded one for you if you wish to use that. If you wanted to do it the safe way instead of using my older Uinversal firmware, I would follow above instructions.
Next open Odin, click BL find the appropriate BL file, click CSC find that file and select, as well as the other two with AP being last make sure to use OYM CSC not HOME.
- then simply boot phone into download mode: hold Power volume- and home upon restart and it should get you into bootloader. click UP, and if your phone is recognized by your computer go ahead and flash your new universal rom.
It has NO verizon bloat and more features such as Wifi calling and Video chat phone calls!
anyway if you need more help refer to this link here if you need help with this software. I found it incredibly straight forward.
you will be able to choose French upon setup of your phone.
