[Q] Best build for red lens defy - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi could someone please tell which build is best for a red lens defy?
Thanks in advance.

There's nothing like the "Best Build" .Every ROM has certain features and lacks some. Go through the threads and chose one that suits you the best..

I would say go for Defy+ Cm7.2 by Quarx with the gingerbread kernel by Walter. It's fast, stable and provides a great battery backup! I have a red lens defy.

[Q] Flash Defy+ *.sbf with Android 2.3.6 to red lens Defy?

Hi
I did read in the dev section, that there is a new *.sbf from the Defy+ with Android 2.3.6. which can be flashed on the Defy. I know there is no going backl from that if flashing the full sbf.
As far as i know the Defy with red lens (bayer device) is basically a Defy+.
So what i wanna know...will the camera work with this new sbf...basically, will everything work?
Nope... I don't think the red lens camera is working fine as of now...
Btw... was wondering if we flash the nandroid of the 2.3.6 then can we return to frayo?

hmmm. darn it... and here i was thinking the defy with red lens is quite the same as defy+. Obviously there are differences in the end.
So no experiments for me then...need the camera. hope it will start working at some point. Epsylon3 wrote, that with defy+ kernle some things are working easier and that they would probably jump to that kernel. But without Cam... :-(
Regarding the nandroid...sory..not sure if u can return..i think yes...but no guarantees ton that. U will have to read the thread in dev section from walther79

Someone already flashed this full SBF on a Defy MB525, its working perfectly for him. As long as you have a Red lens, and dont care about downgrading, you can go for it
ah... two different opinions
From what i was reading in the meantime it wont work. At least thats what Walter79 wrote
Anyways...am on CM9 now and thats ok for now.. if i would use the newer Defy+ Kernel+Bootloader that wont work at the moment.

No... the ROM does work on Red lens Defy and Defy+, that's a fact.
What wont work is the Fixed SBF, cause it needs the new Firmware to work... which is only possible to have by flashing the full SBF.
Walter also said he is going to base the new MSGinger in this rom, and make it work on Green lens.
But the rom DOES work on Red Lens defy.
thx again... good to know for sure.... hoping that way the red lens defy will be compatible with any updates from moto for defy+
help me to

Stable ROM's for green (soc) lens defy

Hi
I have been through all the threads checking on various ROM that seems to fit a SOC lens. Most threads hold too much of information for a novice like me.. So I seek help from all the learned members to help me (or us) in choosing a good stable rom for a greenlense defy.
Ofcourse, CM9 is still on trial basis and CM7 is also a stable rom...
Anything other that these for us??
First of all do you want a custom rom like miui or cm7 or do you want a rom with motoblur or the stock look like walters rom?
Hi
I have installed GGL ROM by adi4motion. Its a blur account. But however, the camera is pathetic and there are lot of FC when trying to record cam or take a pic.....
I want a stable rom that has good camera

I have tried dozens of ROMs. However, CM7.2 nightly is my favorite.
You may also try this Nandroid backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22469195
Hi,
How is the camera's performance on [ROM]4.5.1-134_DFP-231 ?
I have installed Cm7.1 on this moto and the camera appears dark while trying to capture pictures?
Any suggestions on the camera front?
Also tell me how to install [ROM]4.5.1-134_DFP-231
Thanks for your time.

Refer to the above mentioned link for using this ROM via nandroid backup..

MS2Ginger from walter, my current rom.
Use CM9 nightly. No problems at all. Search for Epsylon's build ( froyo kernel)

DO NOT start new threads asking for "the best" nightlies. It changes all the time, and everybody will give you a completely different answer.
But since you have a defy+, the obvious is to flash a Defy+ build (gb kernel). Quarx is the only developer who owns a defy+, and his nightlies are the best. For daily use they are rock stable. No force-closes, no reboots, just perfect. Original thread: VoilĂ !
FuZZ__'s kangs are good too with even more features added. Check out the thread here
sorry i didn't wanted to open a new huge discusion
ok then i'll try the quartx one! and maybe later the kang!
thanks!
Don't worry. I probably overreacted!

downloading fuzz version!
afaik eppys builds are quite stable too. whats the difference between them (except the obvious kernel difference)? any feature differences, does one support hwa better than the other? i have a red lensed defy, so i can move between kernels.
sent from my cm7 defy...

will we get jellybeann for green lense defy ?

tried quarx pre alpha its quite interesting , is there any chance that eppy will build cm10 for green lense defy ?,he has done a great work on cm9 not to forget
Once the ROM has been compiled for atleast one of the defys without major glitches, i think its more than possible that JB will be available for green lensed defy.....Its always good to remain optimistic anyway!
ooops, didnt read carefully
