Like the title says ever since the changes in Tytung's kernels between KERNEL 2.4 and KERNEL 2.5 my phone does not have a MAC address and therefore can not start the WiFi.
What I have tried...
BOTH wifi fixes, one at a time and both at once
Fix permissions
Clear caches
Clean install
Task 29
Reinstall Magldr
Reinstall cwm 5.0.2.5 and 5.0.2.6
Revert to Windows 6.5 COMPLETELY!
Reinstall HSPL
Reinstall Magldr
Reinstall cwm 5.0.2.6
Fresh install of newest ROM version
And still the only thing that works is flashing the 2.4 kernel. I would really like to get the advantage of having the most updated kernel as I am sure it has many updates but I am stuck.
Please help!

where did you find 2.5?
Phone have wifi mac address. If it doesnt connect see the possible fix that tytung gives in his thread for this issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
The SIM card related WiFi issue:
If you suffer from this WiFi issue, you can flash BCM4329_firmware_v4.218.248.18.zip or install WiFix.apk.
did you try to see if wifi connects without sim card?
That is the problem, My phone does not have a MAC address!
Forgot to mention, I have also tried all of the fixes in the thread for the wifi. Those fixes are for people that can't connect, my problem is that I can not even turn on my wifi because it is looking for a MAC address and can't find one.
Oh and when I said going from 2.4 to 2.5 I meant going from kernel 2.4 to kernel 2.5 not rom 2.4 to rom 2.5!

I am having the same problem as you.
I'm unable to connect to WiFi from the get-go on most ROMs (PA, Tytung's ICS & JB, CM9) and any attempts to turn Wi-Fi on are met with the litttle switch being greyed out and seeing an eternal "Turning Wi-Fi on.." message. WiFi works fine in WM6 and on the old-old Cotulla "Stock Desire" ROM.
Tried the BCM ZIP and WiFix.
I ended up generating a random MAC (google 'generate MAC address') and hard-set the MAC, following this guide and it worked. Hopefully it helps you out too, even though it's not a real fix.

If it's finding the AP, it sounds more like a router problem.
Do you use MAC address filtering? If so, you'll need to add the new MAC address given by android. (Settings->About Phone->Hardware Information). Should usually begin 00:90:4C:xx:xx:xx
I had a similar problem when running it from SD via magldr, it seemed to do it every time I did a clean boot.
I solved my issue by removing the profile, turning off wifi and then turning back on and letting it find AP again and re-entering key, it then connects fine and this has worked multiple times and after doing it never had problem again until clean install.
Not sure if that will solve your issue but worth a try.
That worked thank you

when you install a CM7 nightly then the radio isn't changed.
It install only the ROM.
Why this question about the radio version?
i thought the problem of the reboot could be the Radio...
I have EXACTLY the same problem...
Well, i'm experimenting some freezing issues with my Htc Legend on CM 7.03, when the wifi is on, i launch Android market (or something else... like trillian, a game etc..) in order to search apps or upgrade installed ones, after few swipes... : big freeze, then reboot.
i'm experimenting this problem since the first stable release.
I'm running LauncherPro Plus as Home Replacement, have S2E (for A2SD) and the 7.13 radio.
I would just know if someone else do have this issue too.
I was using Blayo before without any freezes.

same problem here too.
I had the same with one of the nighlies (87). I had Go Launcher has homescreen replacement.
Running 7.0.3 with ADB there were no issues anymore!
will go to 7.0.3 - thanks. by the way, what does adb do to the phone whilst not plugged in?
These WiFi reboots sound similar to those in ogo2's Sense 2.3 ROM, I wonder if they're linked?
Well ogo's, rom is 97% cyanogen 7, and cyanogen 7 has had these wifi issues since they started using htc code (see post in dev section).
partial work-around
well, going back to the latest stable version of cyanogenmod (7.0.3 at this time...even though i will miss the better responsiveness of adw in the newer nightlies) and using wifi fixer is a partial work-around to this problem for m.
Hello.
Could you please tel me where can I download diferent versions of radio for the Legend?
Have almost 0% of wifi and mobile coverage after installing CM 7.03.
Thanks!

Has anyone any experience with wifi network, which requiers to enter user name and password, first time you open the browser? I have such case at work, and my problem is tha this first page just won't load. It works ok on my coworkers phone (nexus s). Any suggestions what can I try. I've tried with Skyfire browser and with nativ cm browser, but it doesn't work. I'm using CM 7.0.3 stable
Wifi seems to be fixed in Cyan 7.1.0 RC1 at least is is on mine.
I'm having a problem with having both bluetooth and the wifi being on while running Virtuous Fusion ROM > 1.0.1. If WiFi is on and once bluetooth is turned on, wifi continues to work for maybe 5 minutes and then wifi shows to be connected, but it won't transmit any data. Once I turn bluetooth off and turn wifi off and then just turn the wifi back on, wifi works.
I don't have this problem with v1.0.1 of the ROM, but I've tried every newer version (doing a full wipe or doing an upgrade, tried both) and all of the revisions have this problem for me.
I'm a new member so the forums don't allow for me to post this as reply to the ROM thread in the development forum. Can someone help me, or at least repost this as a reply in the Virtuous Fusion ROM thread?
Thanks.
which version are you using i am also using that sense rom v1.0.6 and wifi and bluetooth work fine
I've tried every version, except 1.0.6, but the changes made from .5 to .6 don't sound like they're going to make a difference.
Maybe it is something with my phone, but I've done a full wipe through clockwork recovery with every version and I keep having the problem. The only version that works is 1.0.1.

my last try would be to completely wipe data, cache, and cache partition and reinstall the newest version...if not it could be your kernel perhaps

I've done all that and tried a different kernel, same problem. This is why perhaps I think it might be a bug in the ROM code.
their might be...not all phones react the same to roms but hopefully that bug can be fixed so you can enjoy ur Fusion rom
I had this problem as well. I thought it was caused by an app called "In-app Wifi Toggle" that somehow got backed up by Titanium from my previous ROM, which I restored onto this ROM without thinking. When I uninstalled it, Wifi was working fine.

Really? I searched the ROM thread and couldn't really find a mention of it...
I am having some difficulties along these lines but not directly effecting bluetooth use, Wifi just cuts in and out even with me being right next to my router. I dont use bluetooth so I cant really recreate the problem to try and find a suitable solution.
My wifi problem might be because I am using 1.0.5 though so updating right now
I've just downloaded the newest HD2' rom NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.5 (Kernel: tytung_HWA_r3.2) from this thread http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860. After trying it, there's a problem with turning on wifi. I turned it on, it say "turning on" and nothing happen then. I did some search on the forum but i couldn't find anything. I had installed AOKP CM9 build 40 before and got the same problem. My device is HD2 EU and wifi works well with all Gingerbread rom.
Would any one please tell me if there is any solution to fix it. Thanks for advance.
Hello,
You need this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445766
This problem is only present in Ice Cream Sandwich, that's why you haven't faced it before in Gingerbread.
Good luck,

I've read the guiding on that thread, and I've tried that. But nothing happened, the issue wasn't solved. My problem is that wifi couldn't turn on. I thinks It seem to relate to hardware problem. Do you have any idea about this?

It never turns on:crying: . I tried an older ICS rom, and this is the only one that wifi work PARANOIDANDROID HD2 v1.0, later PARANOIDANDROIDs have the same problem! I wonder if there is problem with the kenal or something likes that ???

That's why you must read the steps properly.
1. Unzip the file
2. Put fw_bcm4329.bin on the sd card.
3. Now open root explorer or root browser (allow superuser request) on phone and move fw_bcm4329.bin from sd card to system/vendor/firmware.
A dialog box will appear click yes.
4. Now reboot phone and switch on wifi.
Edit: If this still doesnt work. Use tytung's kernel r3 and then follow the above steps

Did you flash tytung kernel following this instruction?
Edit: Which rom did you flash successfully? I've tried EvoHd2IcsV9x, Unofficial-cm10-hd2(jellybean) and aokp b40, but I still can't turn on WIFI.
However, it better than before, that the system will ask me to turn on WIFI when the first boot configuration. (but can't turn on too.)
No, i flash directly the zip file. Following these steps:
1. Flash your new rom first.
2. Download tytung kernel r2.3 from link in his profile.
3. Open the .zip file (not unzip) and replace the file initrd.gz in \kernel\boot\ with the one in your rom (open .zip rom and it's also in \kernel\boot\). You have to do this step otherwise wifi wont work.
4. Flash the kernel via recovery.
5. Enjoy
Almost new HD2 ICS rom use tytung kernel r3, r3.1 & r3.2 and wifi not work for me. So i try to flash the newest release and downgrade the kernel to r2.3 and wifi work well.
P/s: i havent tried Cm10 yet.

Thanks a lot! But I'm using SD build, so I may not use the above method.....:crying:
hello mates.
I know there are already some threads about tethering (i know, i used "search" before creating new thread)
My problem is this:
i flashed a lot of roms found in the developers section. miui, cm7 and oxygen, actually i think i have tested them all, doing the 3 wipes EVERY TIME...(god bless titanium backup)
I never got wifi tethering to work properly not with native feature nor with any app on the market.
with pc 1/5 could make the tethering
with ics tablet and SE x10mini i got endless connect-reconnect making internet unusable and sometimes i could not even find u8800 in the list of available networks.
I tried sharing 3g with SE neo v and everything went ok perfectly stable connection.
So my question is: has anyone, in ANY rom, got the wifi-tethering to work properly?
Thanx
Im using aurora and barnacle wifi tether. So far no problem.
Can you check your wifi mac please, it may be nulled.

Mac is ok, never updated to .35 kernel. I am sure that it is somehow prolly drivers problem on 8800 because if I share from other phones to my tablet connection is fast and stable
Could it been .32 problem?
