Has anyone been able to backup their tablets using CWM or another recovery? I'd like to see a system and boot .img file if possible, seeing as spec wise AFAIK, the Prime and N7 are very similar, I'd like to try my hand at getting a N7 rom to at least boot on the Prime.

If she wants to update and since the tablet is already rooted why not throw a recovery on it (if its not) and flash a custom ICS rom and give the better then stock performance?
But, what is your problem? When you do a OTA update, ull just loose ur root. Also, as said above, u should try a custom ROM, coz some of them are really much better than stock(like FLEXREAPER).
If you put Cyanogenmod there is a setting to disable root for apps and/or adb
Check this thread, might be an easy way for you.

So download Iconia root, install and run if you're on pre 3.2... Gives you the option to unroot...

This is about 3 builds back from ICS. Install the stock rom in CWM recovery and will put you back to complete stock. Then do the updates.

I am not cleared with your problem. If you are trying to unlock your recovery than
1. Install Acer recovery application from play store.
2. From tegraowners.com download latest recovery image.
3. Save your recovery image in your sd card.
4. Run Acer recovery and backup your current recovery image.
5. Select install from sd card, and update your recovery.
Thanks for help

there is only one for acer and its free !
For OTA ICS:
Root using Blackthunders one click root tool. Then use Afterota to add kernel, v7 unlocked bootloader and CWM.
ICS has locked bootloader that you need to unlock before flashing a recovery.
OK I try unlock how I'm stuck in AXP mode how unsoftbrick it

Ok so I'm not exactly new to the rooting scene but I'm having trouble since getting the 4.2.1 update. Upon installing TWRP 2.5 and various flavors of CWM, The system is unable to mount anything in recovery! Everything else works great but just not the recovery. Anyone have a fix for this? Not sure if I am willing to downgrade stock, I am afraid that it will brick my device (what happened last time)

You are flash the wrong twrp Version. You need 2.5.0.0. Jb4_2 .

I know the 7" may not be able to flash a custom recovery, but does anyone have any info on the recovery abilities of the 8" or 10"?
No nothing. I'm on 8 and sent email to twrp hopefully soon

Nothing atm
Hopefully someone will monitor this that knows how to build or at least knows what is needed for a recovery
