[Q] OTA ICS on SC failed - Thinkpad Tablet General

I'm trying to update over OTA to ICS on my 39_0089_SC device.
The update.zip will be downloaded completed.
If a start the update installation (CWR -> install zip from sdcard) I get the following failure message:
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") =="Indigo" || getprop("ro.build.product")== "Indigo"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7)
What wrong? I have only tried to flash a ROW image... no success.:crying:
device config:
CWR 5.0.2.7 installed and rooted
original SC image

Pls read the other threads on the forum. This was solved yesterday. Anyway the error is because you have Cwm instead of the normal android recovery. The solve this, comment out the lines of the updater-script that check for "indigo".

another Problem...
now I have comment out the "indigo" lines at the updater-script and made a signed update.zip (fokke.org/site/content/howto-create-android-updatezip-package).
If a try to install the upater.zip from SD card, i get a new failure message:
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/updater.zip (Status 6).....
Have Imade somthing wrong?? Problems with system apps or OTA Rootkeeper?

http://www.thinkpadtabletforums.com...lopment/guide-to-installing-ota-3-(ics-4-03)/
Go here, this is a guide to upgrading to ICS.

solved - ICS Update is working now!
Below the steps what a have done:
1) Download OTA over wifi
2) modified update.zip (indigo update failure messages)
Error 6 was coming from updater-script -> not use notepad to edit!!!
3) generate new update.zip (fokke.org/site/content/howto-create-android-updatezip-package)
4) install OTA RootKeeper (protect root)
5) update "busybox" file from lenovo image (website, system/xbin/busybox)
6) install update.zip over CWR
that's it! now I'm rocking on ICS.....
(CWR is overwritten by the ICS update )
Thanks you guys for help!!!

Good to hear you sorted out your problem. And also thanks for posting the solution that worked for you. That will help the rest of us.

OTA update in update.zip format with root options

Works mint! I was running Modoco 1.3 ROM, heres the steps I performed:
recovery install: update-nexusone-ERE27-signed.zip
recovery install: update-nexusone-radio-32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2-signed.zip
./fastboot-linux boot boot.ERE27.superboot.img
./fastboot-linux flash zimage zImage-2.6.29.6
./adb remount
./adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
Can I flash this manually WITHOUT being rooted?
I posted a thread on updating without root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627533
Modaco's page confused me a little.
Does the "Main update" include the radio update, or did he split that off and they're completely separate?
Can the main update be installed using a rooted, but stock, rom and recovery?
In other words, if I just want exactly what the OTA would give me, on my rooted (by superboot) but stock N1, what do I need to do?
Thanks!
I'm completely stock rom / not rooted and I just did this:
http://androidforums.com/nexus-one/41504-how-force-2-2-2010-ota-update.html#post316090
1. Get the update from Google: http://android.clients.google.com/updates/passion/signed-passion-ERE27-from-ERD79.a487b405.zip
2. Put the update on your SD card & rename it to update.zip
3. Boot in recovery mode (hold down trackball + power)
4. Go to bootloader -> recovery
5. Now there's a picture of a droid with a triangle
6. Press the power button + volume up
7. Apply sdcard:update.zip
8. Updating
9. Reboot system now
10. Enjoy the multitouch

Worked great.
Thanks Paul. That's what I first tried, and it failed. I posted the details here, but haven't heard anything back yet.

I'm in the same exact boat as you. I rooted my phone last week because i was eager to get multitouch working, so i followed this tutorial:
theunlockr[dot]com/2010/01/21/how-to-enable-multitouch-browsing-on-your-nexus-one-using-the-native-browser/
So now when i try to apply the OTA update manually in recovery mode i get:
Code:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/Browser.apk" , "68a23e4ac9d6a783b6166b24ab79d12c6544e8f4" , "4da6d3fd306ef7fc81e19147da395f13221e70307")
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Does anyone know what i can do to get this OTA up and running? Im rooted but i havent flashed any custom roms or recoveries either.
This is my first android phone so i'm a bit of a noob and new to the scene. Any help would be greatly appreciated

check that guide out, it was simple and easy to follow...
Thanks JHaste.
But those are pretty much the exact instructions I followed that gave me the error.
My phone is rooted, but running the stock rom.
No custom rom, no patched browser.
The only changes I've made since rooting it are to copy some Thai fonts into the fonts directory.
The exact specifics of my error are posted in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5528501&postcount=118
Very similar to what PhantomRampage listed, but a slightly different cause, I think... (his is an error on Browser.apk)

Thanks for trying but as i said before, i tried that and it fails because i have an unlocked bootloader.
Sorry if my first post was confusing, ill try again.
I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my N1 the other day, i also modified and added some files to get pinch-to-zoom working on the native browser. To do that i followed some tutorial on theunlockr, i cant post direct links so google it and you'll find it easily.
So, now i want to apply the new OTA update but it fails, either because i have root access or because i tampered with the browser files im guessing.
Knowing all that, what can i do to install the new update?
Also, will i have to download patched updates from now on since i rooted my phone? I'm really hoping i dont have to; i'd prefer to install the ota updates as they come out officially.
might have found a solution
check out:

seems to be just what i was looking for but i think i want to re-flash the stock firmware instead, i want to stay as stock as possible so i can install future OTA updates without having to go through all this trouble. Can anyone help me with that please?
Anyways, i hope my link will help some people. Sorry for the double post

*Guys plz tell me is there any solution to install the CyanogenMod Gingerbread 2.3.2 RC0
*If i need to install any other rom do I need to flash RA-Tattoo-v1.6.2 again.
I don't understand you people.
You make a new thread to describe an error which is already discussed and solved on the thread from which you download the rom.
You just need to read the 3-4 last pages to find the answers.

[Q] 3.2 update issues

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade from rooted 3.1 to 3.2. I downloaded the 3.2 zip
file ( 19dea2ba1ae5.signed-trygon-HTJ85B-from-HMJ37.19dea2ba.zip)
and copied it to the xoom. When I try to upgrade with clockwork recovery,
I get a strange error:
...
Verifying current system ...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:/dev/block < lots of text, see attached pic >")
E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any ideas/suggestions how to work around this ?
Thanks,
rudi
For some reason, some of the stock HMJ37 boot.img files don't pass the SHA1 check. So, I used the patch tool to create the "Official" HMJ37 boot.img from HRI66:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12011163/MZ600-HMJ37-stockboot.img
flash this boot image with fastboot, and that'll fix your issue. Glad this can help someone else- I had the same problem too (even after backing out all my files).

I got a simular error when I tried to update normally with Stock recovery. When I tried it this way earlier it did not work and I got to the Android on his back with the Red Triangle. I then got in to Stock recovery but the error above was simular.
Any help appreciated.

Believe it means that files checksum doesn't match what they think it should, meaning it was modified. So if it doesn't match, no flashy. Had the same issue with my build.prop, fixed it. Then it failed on the file for the 720p camera mod. Tried fixing it.... but that's a no go. Basically if you can find a stock rooted ROM, then copy over the file that fails....u should be good.
I downloaded and tried an unmodified file and got the same error upgrading from 4.2 to 4.2.1

(Problem) OTA Update via Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

Hi, i am from the philippines. just a while ago, i received a firmware update notification via my galaxy tab 2 10.1 (running a rooted stock rom [ICS 4.0.3 EXWALE2]. I succesfully downloaded the whole package, about 259mb, and did the installation afterwards. however, got the following errors in recovery mode:
CWM-based Recovery 5.5.0.4
E: Invalid command argument
Finding update package…
Opening update package…
Verifying update package…
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: Signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
has anybody here had experienced the same problem? the fix, if there is?
Another thing: I could not find the downloaded update package in my phone or just do not know where find it.

I suppose CWM blocks any OTA updates, I've tried download the update twice only to get those message on CWM.
Try download the update via Kies, I just successfully did it.
However the update size it's a lot bigger than 250MB and you're gonna lose your root privileges.
