Connect your phone and enable usb debugging then press the 1st button on the exe
Wait for the commands to finish and check if you have SuperUser on your apps!!
Installation
Ok i say there is a pdf inside the zip but noone reads it..so how to install the rom
1)You have to have 2.3 rom...any rom official,custom,cm,miui,mine,kalos anything
1a)If you have froyo update to 2.3 find the post here on xda dont ask here how to update to 2.3)
2)make a folder on your sdcard and sdcard only named "dload"
3)Inside dload paste update.app from zip's step1 folder
4)Close the phone-remove the battery-insert the battery and hold both volume keys and press power until you see the huawei logo
4a)If the installation starts and gives you a fail do the same as above and press the keys for less seconds
5)Wait for the installation to finish..step1 and step3 will make 10-20seconds to install step2 will make 10minutes
5a)If and only if after installing step1 phone boots on cwm format data/make factory reset and reboot your phone
6)Wait to boot on your rom no rom changed until now
7)Now on your dload folder delete the update.app and paste update.app from zip's step2
8)Close the phone remove the battery and boot up with both volumes and power button, wait to finish..if your red light in headphone starts flashing quick you have problem..take off the battery and try again
9)After step2 finished wait for it to boot..normaly it will take you to stock recovery and make some wipes, then it will boot to ics!
10)After finishing login to your gmail account and everything loads normaly remove from dload update.app and paste step3 update.app
11)Close the phone remove tha battery and power the phone with both volumes and power button
12)Wait for it to finish this is quick like step1
13)There is a posibility that this step will take you to stock recovery too wait for the wipes to be done and if it stack at OK remove tha battery and insert it again
14)The phone will boot up normaly
15)Now you have all ics functions working!!GL so don't ask again how to install!!thx!!
Unlock the pink screen
1)Download the B928 Unlock the pink screen zip and flash it just like the steps above
2)After finishing flashing the unlock remove your sdcard and boot the phone to bootloader mode (pink screen) with Volume +/- pressed and power until you see a pink screen in the phone
3)Connect the phone to the USB cable and open your explorer on your pc
4)You will see a removable disk with the folder "Image" inside
5)Download the CWM recovery (the new by geno is in chinese for now) rename it to recovery.img and replace the existing recovery.img in the image folder
6)Disconect the usb cable remove the battery and boot your phone normally
If you are like me that after flashing step2 try to flash unlock and get the pink screen backup your sdcard to your pc and have inside only dload folder nothing more!!or i found this now..use the internal sd..
To downgrade to 2.3.5 you need to download 2.3.5 rom and flash only Step2 update.app!!
-------------
Known bug list:
1)The 4 keys after a while stop lighting they can be fixed if you restart but after 2-3 restarts they stop working at all
2)The phone model shows as U8800 not U8800+ or U8800pro although this is a U8800PRO rom not for non pro phone
3)Some users complaining about random reboots
Non bugs:
1)Low Ram...ics is newer and better that GB so it uses more ram than GB nothing we can do at least for now
2)No image folder on pink screen,as i say at the top of the post bootloader aka pink screen is locked so we can't see our image folder
3)After changing to CWM you will get a notice that says that your recovery.img has wrong signature thats the results of the post above bootloader is locked!!
4)This rom is stock..and as you remember if your using at all your stock GB roms they suck...so don't compare it with kalo's or any other rom as soon as we are be able to unlock the bootloader we are be able to took the rom and make it as stable and fast as we can..and also to make CM9 and MIUI v4!

this is what i think we could do.
anyway, downgrade to gingerbread should be possible using linux and the dd command

Downgrade from gb to froyo is dificult...and cos to me at least a faulty IMEI!!why to take the chance?no need!!
:fingers-crossed:
I think we can just compile the 3.0.8 kernel from source(Huawei should release it alongside the ICS demo update) also extract some libs from the update.app and just add them all together in a sakura release
I think it works for me.
The english release will be demo ppl not the chinese!all those months we are using chinese roms!what libs and sakura your talking about the rom will be full like all the gb roms we are used!

I have a U8800-51 with miui for u8800pro, but I upgraded to gingerbread official U-pro, this way, I wondered if there was a setback regarding the installation of the official rom u8800pro.

I don't get it: I have never tried, but if I backup the phone with Nandroid (CWM 5.0.2.7), can't then I just go back to GB just by restoring that backup?
our user from 4pda, asked Huawei about restrictions and possible limitations in releasing Demo version of ICS, and got an answer:

to upgrade to ICS (strongly likely) you will need stock recovery, so after upgrade to ICS you will not be able to change stock one with CWM in case if Huawei cut off the bootloader. I hope i'm clear in my words
Huawei will continue to be the world's first vendor to provide the Andrews version 4.1!
From huawei CN microblogging!!
Also for the restore through CWM if ICS has a difirent bootloader like froyo-gingerbread you will not be able to restore to gb like we did now...you have to reflash gb with update.app but if you don't have the "special" update.app like in froyo you will not be able to restore!!
If It Is Unofficial They Should have Released Dzo ICS ROM.
I dont understand nothing :crying: :crying:
What have I do for install the ICS Demo? Will Work good? When published the released, I wait or install?

For the last time...ics demo will be released if released by europe/us huawei....chinese huawei will release full ics rom...so we don't care what europe will released...as they didn't released gb rom!!
pikachukaki, and what about langpack? Will there be all languages or we will have to modify it? I just didn't meet the time of GB releases, I bought the phone later

I need help getting xrecovery on my phone. Ive been trying to ultimately flash a 2.2.1 rom with no avail. the guide isnt noob enough. Somehow I got a x10i rom on my phone but not quite sure what I did. im frustrated and about to throw my phone. Second question when flashing roms on my old captivate it was much easier anyway to make the rom switching on this phone easier? please help
Grab the flashtool in the android development section, with that you can install busybox, xrecovery, root, flash new firmware etc etc. Once that is all done switching roms is piece of cake

I have flash tool installed. I have a rom for a x10i on the phone now. I want to try a different rom I just forgot what buttons I pushed to get the rom I have. My main problem is I cant find the .ftf file and flash it for the diff roms. I know Im suppose to copy that file and then use flash tools but havent figured out A) where to find that file B) what to do with it. my phone is rooted, bussy box, flashed.
when i got the phone I had xrecovery installed and that was so easy to use but i had to a warranty exchange and now I have no clue how to instal that program on my own.

u tried the Q&A section
yes, i been studying the flash tool for noobs all yesterday. My main problem is my first android was the captivate and all I had to was flash the desired rom so I was able to flash multiple roms at any given time. Comming to the xperia I have to worry about choosing roms, find related basebands. its very aggrevating.
I dont even know how to flash new basebands btw.
do all froyo roms come with apps2sd? I just need two features that i car ebaout app2sd and froyo rom so i can watch flash content. If the rom does not have it preinstalled how do i get a similar app for that function? I was reading on a pp called data2sd but it seems like a inferior product
Download Flashtool and install.
Make sure you have the drivers installed:
Open "ggsetup-2.2.0.10.exe" in the "Drivers" folder where you installed Flashtool to install the drivers.
Plug your phone into the computer, once the phone is recognized, click "Root".
Once done, reboot your phone.
Plug it back into the computer, once recognized, click "Ask Root Permissions".
SuperUser should ask for permissions on your phone, and say "Allow".
Then you should be able to click "xRecovery" in Flashtool that will install xRecovery on your phone.
To access xRecovery, reboot the phone and press the back key a few times when the "Sony Ericsson" screen comes up.
Volume up moves selection up.
Volume down moves selection down.
Back is back.
Menu is select.
Download ROM of your choice.
Place on SD card and boot into xRecovery.
Make backup of your current ROM.
Then select "Factory Reset", then "Wipe Cache".
Then go to "Advanced", select "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Go back to main menu and select "Install Custom Zip", then navigate to your ROM on your SD card.
Install and reboot.
Download your desired baseband
Unpack baseband .ftf to the "Firmware" folder where you installed Flashtool.
Turn off your phone.
Click "Flash" in in Flashtool.
Select your baseband on the left and all the files for the baseband on the right.
Click "OK"
On screen instructions:
"1-Unplug the device"
"2-Power off the device"
"3-Press the back button and hold it"
"4-Plug the USB cable"
Once that window goes away, you can let go of the back button.
You should now have the baseband you selected.
If you have any issues with no signal after a few reboot of your device, go to "Developers Tools" select "Bad Behavior" then "Crash System Server"
This should fix it.
If not, check baseband requirements and ensure you flashed the proper one or refer to here for cobrato's baseband patches.

Not all ROMs have app2sd on them.
You'll have to browse the development thread for the one that you like.
Also, make sure you have at least a class 8 16gb SD card for optimum performance.
I have the drivers installed, because my pc and phone can interact with each other and I can share files among them. Would it be wise to delete the program and start all over from scratch
Thanks for the noob instructions i am rooted but I cant click on xrecovery because that option is grayed out
update:
I am rooted,x recovery installed
I go to x10flasher and when I try to flash .58 baseband in the firmware folder I cant see it through it the x10 flasher program but I can see it otherwise..
or do I use xrecovery program to flash rom and baseband.
In the xrecovery program I dont see the rom I placed in root of the sd card I have installed on my phone

This is what you should have for firmware. .ftf files in the Firmware folder.
Make sure you select all of the .sin files on the left
You can't flash firmware from xRecovery. Only in Flashtool.
Is your ROM in .zip format? Some developers have them in a .rar and need to have the .zip extracted.
I actually had to click ask for root permission 2x before i could allow it on my phone. right now I have xrecovery on my phone, bussy box, root all working Im trying to flash .58 from .49 baseband and then install a rom and ill be done so im like 80% done thanks for guys help Btw

If it's a rom, then it should be in a .zip format which you should flash it through xRecovery.
I need help again, Im on my third x10a. I bricked the last phone and got a replacement. Now when I plug my phone into the pc and try acess x10 flasher the root option is grayed out. I try other root options but they just crash my pc(superoneclick) All i want to do is get my phone to the newly released 2.1 b firmware from sony and root. Please help me again
The procedure is quite simple.
Step 1.
Download the following tools:
Cyanogen Mod 7.1 for Xperia X8 (code named Shakira)
FlashTool
FXP030 kernel (2.6.29)
Step 2.
Step 2.1
Follow the guide located here to unlock your bootloader, do this before continuing with the rest of this guide it is important to have your stock firmware rooted for this step.
Step 2.2
Unzip flashtool to its own folder e.g. /Flashtool/.
Unzip FXP030 kernel to the Flashtool/firmwares/ folder - the directory should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 3.
Step 3.1
Open Flashtool and click on the 'Flash' button, select the FXP firmware from the list on the left hand side and click OK.
Step 3.2
Follow the on screen instructions.
Step 4.
Copy the update-cm-7.1.0-X8-signed.zip to the root of your MicroSD Card as shown below. (Please note that you can do this using a MicroSD Card reader OR your USB cable.
If you do not have a card reader then switch your phone on after flashing the FXP kernel and when you see the FreeXperia logo, repeatedly press the Back button until CWM loads. Once CWM has loaded scroll down to the Mounts and Storage menu. Once on the mounts and Storage menu scoll down to mount USB Storage and copy the update-cm-7.1.0-X8-signed.zip file to the root of the SD card.
Step 5.
Load CWM via the method described in Step 4 and select 'Install Zip from SD card.' then select 'Choose Zip from sdcard' and select the update-cm-7.1.0-X8-signed.zip that you copied over to the root of the SDCard in the previous step, Select the yes option using the volume buttons and let CWM work its witchcraft.
Step 6.
Go back to the main menu of CWM and select 'wipe data/factory reset'.
Next from the main menu of CWM select 'wipe cache partition'.
Finally from the main menu of CWM select 'Advanced' and 'wipe dalvik cache.
Optional
If you want the google apps installed you can download them here. To install them perform Step 4 through to Step 5 and instead of copying 'update-cm-7.1.0-X8-signed.zip' to the root of your sdcard, copy gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip instead. All instructions in Step 4 and Step 5 that state you should use 'update-cm-7.1.0-X8-signed.zip' should use the file 'gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip' instead.
Notes:
I'm having issues with the networking with this custom firmware, specifically the network (3G or WiFi) seems to 'drop' after any amount of small usage. If I use a Browser or the Market place for a short amount of time, they simply end up unable to load any pages whilst android reports that wifi/3g signal strengths are full. I tested the connectivity using ping commands from terminal and pings are succesfull. I'm unsure where the issue lies. I suspect however the issue is in the FXP Kernel, some people have reported using FXP 028 Kernel resolves the issues but I've been unable to find them.
Anyway I hope this helps people who are confused as to how to install this.

Btw this kernel has wifi issues?

Ah Yes, I mean stock. It's 2:34am... That's my excuse haha, between university and sleep deprivation the mistakes keep mounting hehe. Thanks for pointing that out anyways.
And yes, it seems this kernel has issues with data connectivity, and call volume as well for some odd reason. It boggles the mind as to why it's been labelled 'stable'. Stable usually means it's solid and won't fall over and die, plus data connectivity on an android handset is really a critical feature, if it is buggy the custom firmware should not be labelled as stable.
It really need custom kernel?
Hehe.. Same university thing here, only difference here its 4:40, and got lesson at 8:30..
On my other phone, CM is beta and not Official yet, and its working perfectly, except 2 special features they didnt port yet, from stock rom..
If you find the 28 kernel, post it, until they release the 31!
Thanks!

Yes, if you don't use a custom firmware it will get stuck in a boot loop and be unable to boot.

If I come across it I will, I'll edit my guide to feature it as a work around for connectivity issues for people in the meantime, if it works correctly.
I've got to admit though, issues aside - it is amazing what the open source community is capable of creating. CM 7.1 looks absolutely fantastic, I love the boot animation.
I have tried FXP028, FXP030 and the one that is included with the CM7.1 release, i'm having network problems with all of them.

In step 5 you forgot one thing:
Flash Google Apps. You can find it here: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip
Step 2 is unnecessary, because CWM Recovery is built-in FXP Kernel so you don't need to install it.

I have included the correct kernel for the official cyanogenmod 7.1 rom and slipstreamed your edited loader into the kernel package for peoples convenience. Thanks for linking me to your post!
Hope this helps people!
It seems that this Rom and kernel [cm7] doesn't work. When i flash the kernel my SD is not recognized. And if i uninstall the kernel and try to flash the rom...i get a biiiiigg eror
i hope that they will also make a ROM that is compatible with stock kernel so that it will be easy to install... im having second thought of unlocking my bootloader because of this:
Before I start I must emphasise the fact that meddling with the bootloader is highly dangerous and will result in a hard brick if you don't follow proper instructions. Then, you will have to go and repair your phone by sending it to SE . I am not responsible if your phone dies on you because you didn't follow instructions or you screwed up somehow. I must also mention that this will probably void your warranty (rooting already probably voided it though) and that there is NO WAY to relock bootloader as of now.

Hello
I installed on my Xperia X8 CM7.1 (I had version 2.1 of Android root), but it does not work the WiFi network and the 3G connection is disconnected, it did not work properly Market (having installed the GAPPS). My question, is there any way to get back to my terminal to android 2.1? I did a Back up of my system, but in trying to restore from CWM mistake I make, I guess it is for the kernel.

If you dont like to test dont leave kalo for now...although 928 is very good i dont recomended to ppl who don't want to test things..if you want although i found this version much better than the previous and no i dont have problem with titanium i used 5.4.0 and restore is working properly..and yeah root is out of the question we don't post custom roms without root only officials!!
Don't use for U8800-51

You have an U8800-51, forget ANY Rom with number B927 or B928. For ICS, only use the Aurora 4.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1532662)
Good luck.

B928 is excellent i highly recommend it.But after i flashed step one phone went into bootloop. So i copied step 2 in the sd and made a forced update pressing vol+ vol- and powerbutton and everything worked ok.Step 3 went smoothly.
I take no responsibility for any harm that comes to your phone as a result of applying this mod.
CWMR Touch V6.0.1.0 with 3.0.8 kernel, adb work perfect, no need to reboot recovery for SD card mount.
Installation Instructions:
Unplug any usb connection and turn the phone completely off
Whilst holding both the volume + and volume - keys hold the power button to turn the device on. Let go when you see a pink/purple screen.
Attach the usb cable to your computer and wait until a few usb mass storage devices are detected and mounted. Look for one that has just one directory called 'image' in it. Navigate into this directory and you'll see recovery.img etc.
(optional) Rename recovery.img to recovery_backup.img
copy the new recovery.img to image, unmount the mass storage device (safely remove in windows) and then pull the battery out to turn the phone off.
Hold volume + and power to boot to recovery.
Install any custom rom

I am the only dumbass here, or the bootloader on my orig. ICS is really locked, so I have no image folder on pinkscreen. I can access the folder via rootexplorer, but I have fear to replace the file. If the phone does not boot up after, I'll have a little problem. Bronxie, does it works on rooted original?

you are dumbass, this is for 2.3 baseband roms
This CWM is a new replacement of older 5.0.2.7 version.
If someone is using Stock ICS ROM downloaded from oficial site... this cwm is not for you!!! So why you are not using "ported" stock ics or custom rom based on ics flashable via cwm? Low in-call sound is fixed in B928 and modified roms based on this one.
P.S. Now working on some other interesting things. Thanks for not disturbing

gyankamp1: there is a tiny issue in this cwm, when phone off and charging, there's no battery charging animation, but abaut power on... don't know.
Edis: it should take you less then 5 min to find out you're self. Yes working.

Not for, but with.
CWM is a some kind of tiny operating system with build in kernel. ICS customs is based on GB Basebands and it doesn't matter you flash GB or ICS ROM's this CWM will work (don't know how it works on Eclair based ROMs).
Stock ICS ROMs downloaded from huawey site ad flashed via dload folder has bootloader signature verification if someone changes anything there, they will get soft brick!
Some users working on unlocking bootloader I hope they will sucsess, because for know they have done a big progress in that way.

yes, found that bug, trying to fix. what is the purpose for charging the phone when it is off? phone is a such thing for connecting with others so why it is turned off?
Thanks .
About turn off.
must be somthing else. I am not absolutely sure but those strategy behavior could be a system protection when somthing going wrong.:-[ It must be appear also as an automatic redirection to recovery mode(CWM OR STOCK ). Must be involved splash screen and the number 5 extended partition.Huawei surely always try to make unique roms. That means mixtures is little bit risky(NO FATAL ERRORS but thoose strange behavior ).
Last words:
ICS OFFICIAL have many new hidden checks. Some people say just install and then go to MIui(as example )Then start saying about Miui problems.... I will never use official main update again. (For secure reversing i restore ALL internal memory 4Gb from the original 2. 3 stock )and all works well. INCLUDING CWM.
(i thing say a lot)

I just tried this recovery and it' s very nice.
I tried the nanroid backup and found that uses a different method, doesn't create tar archives, but small .dup files and a folder called blobs which seems that contains the rom's data. So, I suppose that will be incompatible with backups from other recoverys(is this true?) and also seems that doesn't compress the data(the blobs folder is 1,5GB) and this wastes a lot of space on sd card.
Is there any posibility to change this?
Hello, i tried to do this, with an ideos 8800pro, with root permission and original firmware from Huawei website B927...
Now, when i turn on the phone, it print on screen "Image signature verify fail", if i press volume +, volume - and power i get a pink screen. If i link it with usb to my computer i can't see a removible disk, so i can't restore the original recovery.img...
So what can i do? I'll be able to save the data inside the phone?
Thanks
ICS Roms have locked bootloader. Downgrade to any official Gingerbread ROM(B572) by flashing only step 2 update.app and then try to flash this recovery.

I my device is p9 lite vns l31. Now I am in elite roam v 7.1 , I want to go back stock roam. Stock roam b360 was flashed using dload method. That step properly done. After twrp recovery was installed then vns l31 full spaces flash through the twrp. But that step not properly completed. Now only Google voice typing,no keyboard,no system updater, build no says generic room or something. Pls help me to solve this problem.
Hey ! well i'm not a pro but did you download the full update ? the 2gig one ? and also was it the correct region ? (C432 for europ... c185 for north africa... )
I had similar problem which I was able to solve by following procedure (it's semi-complicated):
Get 'Firmware finder' from Google Play. Download your CORRECT FullOTA upgrade - VNS-L31CxxxBxxx. Select only Update.zip (the other one didn't work in updater, anyway, but that will be solved later).
After completion, there's a HWFF folder In Internal storage that has that zip.
If MTP is working, move zip to PC and unzip it into a new folder and rename it to "dload". Then move this folder to your SDcard.
If MTP is not working, move zip on phone with File manager to SDcard and then use adapter to put SDcard into PC and do the same as above (unzip, dload, ...).
Unplug USB cable and shutdown phone. Put SDcard into phone slot and use 3-button method (all 3 hardware keys pressed until EMUI logo shows up) to force upgrade.
Then if you succeed with that, let me know for next step (resulting in a full working system with all the apps).

Hey Krucifer !!! im facing the same problem ! the good thing is that by following your steps i boot into the recovery and it start updating...
the bad news is that it fails... im using a l31 c185 B385 i downloaded (the full package of 3 zips !!!) should i download an anterior version !? :/ !
Edit : okay looks like i can't use the dload method with ANY stock rom... so i have to download the correct one and will report after that !

Exactly.
Try FullOTA-MF-PV (that's the only one that worked for me) and make sure you use odd number (B371, B381) for single sim and even number (B370, B380) for dual sim.
Also, DL only update.zip and extract it do dload. Other files will fail. You'll have to use In-app proxy of Firmware Finder for full fix.
If you get stuck with it, let me know and I'll write step by step.

It's better to try different update.zip files from Firmware Finder than to risk bricking by forcefully flashing something wrong.
I tried a few that didn't work but then one worked.
But to be honest, Elite ROM is much better than stock and I returned back to it. It has more options than stock. I miss even more options (like in crDroid) but I like stock look more than that of Lineage.
