getting rid of the annoying startup and shutdown sounds - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Most of you probably already know this, but if you root, you can got to /system/media/audio/ui and either rename of remove poweroff.ogg, poweroff.wav, and poweron.ogg to remove the start up and shutdown sounds.
This is on the T-mobile version...I would assume other carriers would be the same.

Ya I plan on doing the same with the camera shutter sounds.

Silent Shutter Sound
Sollution to disable Shutter sound on your device:
*First of all download Resco Explorer ( http://www.resco.net/smartphone/explorer/default.asp )
Install this on your device.
*Record with the the standard voice-recorder in windows a wav-file without sound (so simply disable your microphone) make it 5 seconds to make sure it does not have any bad influence on your camera-application.
*Give this file a very simple name starting with an underscore or a number to have it on the top of your list (especially on smartphones the Windows folder is very very long for scrolling) Name it something like "_mute.wav"
* Copy this file from your PC to your device using your windows explorer, put this in the Windows folder on your device
* Now open Resco Explorer on your device, press "menu" , "options" , "browser" and uncheck the "Hide hidden files..." option
* Now browse on your device to the windows folder and locate your mute wav file, now choose "action" , "rename" and give the file the name of the standard shutter sound file (on a Samsung i320 it is "camera_shutter_1.wav" (please do not choose "camera_shutter_ 2.wav" or "camera_shutter_3.wav" because these are first played and afterwards you will get still the "camera_shutter_1.wav"-file)
* You now will get some alert-windows if you are sure etc. just press yes and then.... SILENT SHUTTER IS THERE!
This works for my Samsung i320 so I am pretty sure it works for all devices...

Well for Hermes devices this seems like a heck of a long way round when the camera has an option to turn shutter sound off!!

and on the phones that dont have the option in the app to turn off the shutter sound there is a reg hack to get rid of it as well...
Well, it's a bit old topic, but I have the same problem. I cannot disable the camera shutter sound! I have the HTC official Hermes WM6 ROM (3.54.255.3)
I've tried altering the HKLM\System\Pictures\Camera\OEM\SoundFile key in registry,so that it points to nonexisting file, after that changing it to existing "silent" WAV, altering few other keys in registry (ForceShutterSound set to 0, ShutterSoundVolume to 1, after that to 0) even "force-renaming" my own WAV into \Windows\ShutterSound.wav... Nothing worked, there still is the sound, even if I switch the phone to silent mode. And of course, it can't be set in the Setting screen of Camera application. Anyone have an idea how to get rid of the sound? Isn't there a way to somehow "delete" the file, even if it has the flag "In ROM", and therefore can't be deleted by Total Commander (for example) ?
EDIT: By doing all of this, I have achieved, that the shutter is silent when the phone is in "Sound Off" or "Vibrate" mode... But it would be really nice if it could be disabled completely, even when in standard "Sound On" mode.

Sad thing is that this is actually true in Japan.....
Actually, now I have the capability of turning the sound off (by switching the phone to Vibrate mode), so if I really wanted to take upskirt pictures, I would be able to LOL
I want to disable the sound in "sound on" mode, because it is really annoying and because I just don't want someone else to dictate me what setting should I have enabled/disabled on MY phone, which I have paid for.

How to get rid of "interactive" on start menu?

I have a t-mobile sim, and i think its a SIM thing as this happens in every rom i have tried, including stock.
I cant delete the bloody "interactive" icon at the root of the start menu.
Yes i can move it, but i always get a new copy anyway
Yes i can delete it, but it always comes back
Yes i can set its properties to Hidden, but that makes no difference.
any ideas how to make the bloody thing bog off?

Use BsB Tweaks and set "STK Service" to off. Once you've restarted you can then delete the shortcut and it won't reappear.
Hope this helps
thanks!

Volume change beep

Is there anyway to mute the volume change beep heard when using the rocker? Very annoying since i use no lock and use the rocker to unlock the screen.
Not really mute, but yes, you could remove it or replace with another. You must be rooted. What ROM are you using? If you want you could delete these sounds completely or replace the mp3 s with another sound ofyour choosing by using the same names. Look in \system\media\audio\ui
If you have root explorer you can just rename them to .bak just incase you change your mind.
Sent from my sexy assistant. (HTC Incredible running cm7)
I looked in side the ui folder, but I couldn't find the right .ogg file that sounds like the volume rocker. Couldn't it be in another folder?
I remember when I had tasker, I would mute the media volume in order to disable the shutter sound.
Running cm7
The Android system beep doesn't come from an .ogg file. It's probably hardcoded in an executable (just like the system beep of your computer). But which one?

mute Camera shutter sound

hi, i was wondering how to mute the camera shutter sound. I tried using Xposed frame work with Wanam to disable it but the focus and shutter sound still goes off. I used Root Explorer to rename the the camera_focus.ogg and Shutter.ogg files in system/media/audi/ui, rebooted and the sounds still go off. even deleted those files but the camera is still there.
Where else are these sound files located?

[Q] Can't toggle shutter sound option?!

I've recently rooted my s4 on 4.3 and I've added in the code to display the shutter sound menu (not usually visible in my country). The issue is selecting "Off" doesn't actually do anything, or it doesn't accept "Off" as a valid selection. I'm aware of the other fix involving renaming or deleting the sound files and I've actually tried that a little earlier, but a toggle would be much cleaner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: JUST NOTICED THIS IS IN THE "ACTIVE" CATEGORY, REPOSTED ELSEWHERE... SORRY!
If you do end-up checking back here, firstly make sure you are actually rooted (with a root checker). Once you know that you are, install a root browser, browse to /system/media/audio/ui and delete Shutter.ogg - and any other sounds you don't like, such as the auto-focus.
