Whats wrong with P1000 - Galaxy Tab General

Hi Guys,
My friend has asked me to have a look at his Samsung Tab P1000. He unsure what happened it so it maybe abit of a lost cause.
When i connect the charger it seems to be going into a reboot cycle, it shows the battery charging for a few secs then flicks to
--Veryfing internal MMC block...
checksum configuration -> check (0)
Not need checksum configuration
already executed!!...
It continues to this while plugged into USB charger (both pc and plug)
The device is on o2 UK. When I try to enter download mode to flash new firmware
(GT-P1000_O2U_P1000XWJQ8_P1000O2UJQ3_P1000XXJPZ) it wont allow me and instead displays
Power reset or unknown upload mode
I know i havent provided alot of details but if you could help me id be really greatful

You get (normally) "power reset or unknown upload" mode when you press volume +, - and power. Press volume down and power to go download mode. Post questions in Q&A.

what happen when you are not plugged into usb?
it seems the tab was flashed with a corrupted zip or tar file. Bad news is you don't have recovery or firmware in your tab. Good news is you still have the bootloader.
as qqqyyyxxx said, press volume down. and power button you should get to download mode. flash new zip or tar by redownload.

I don't know if this helps, but I was in your situation and I flashed using Odin.
i can't enter in downloading mode and i don't know whyyyyyyyyyyy, i never can. I touch volume+, volume -, connect the usb and nothing happends, just try to chargeeee. Whyyyyyyyyyy
just hit volume down+power and let go of power when you see the vibrant logo
To enter download mode do this.. step by step
1: - Remove your cover and remove your battery and SIM card
2: - insert back your battery and replace cover. (leave SIM card out)
3:- Do not turn on the phone
4:- connect your phone to the usb cable
5:- You will see a battery in the phone screen ( phone is charging)
6: - Press and hold Vol +, Vol - and Power and as soon the battery image fade away release the Power but leave Vol+ and Vol - pressed until you see the phone goes into download.
7: Release Vol+ Vol -
8: Open Odin
9: Select your Pit file
10: Select your PDA file
11: unplug phone from USB
12: plug again and you'll see in Odin that is recognized
13: Click Start and wait until finish
Loooookkkkkkksssss likeeewe you might beeeee pressing too manyyyyyy keys and now it no workieeeeeeeee

i have the same problem as M5devil:
My problem is even worse as I explained in a different thread before. I don't even see the charging battery when I plug in the USB cable. All I see is the depleted looking grey color battery that doesn't charge. ADB commands don't work - device is not found. So it's a brick and none of the methods worked.
I heard from someone who has 3 different Vibrants, was always able to get into download mode on one of them and never on the other 2. Sounds like some phones got this feature internally blocked and some did not. I guess those that easily enter into the recovery/download modes are the lucky ones.

Try this, remove battery, while holding the volume up and volume down only, pop the battery back in, that's the only way I can get into download mode on mine

Have you tried using ADB to get into download mode?
Code:
adb shell
su
reboot download
-Make sure you have debugging mode enabled on your phone.
-Make sure your screen is awake so you can grant adb super user permissions after entering the "su" command.

What did you do before this? You need to give more details.
OK, I played me a little in the Hidden menu around, anything with factory reset test or so, since I can not get into download mode, although I get to TWRP, rom can flash and make backups back, but I can not start the system, it always comes short the LG logo and then it starts automatically in the TWRP, I can not do more, charging works
I hope you understand me,mei english is very bad!

Yep,but I can not get into download mode, only in Recovery(TWRP)
I make a Factory Reset Test in the Hidden Menu, since I can not do anything
vol up + power = LG BootLogo for a few seconds and then it boots into TWRP
I can flash ROMs and restore backups, but instead of starting to Android, it starts in TWRP
it is very strange

OK now clearly explain step by step what you did before all this happened.
e.g.
1. rooted phone
2. changed XXXX Settings
3. flashed XXX ROM/KERNEL
etc.
Ok,
i Have a LG G2 International Version D802.Stockrom (80210B)
I rooted the Phone and have Twrp installed, this works very well,i flash roms, make Backups since 3 Weeks,no Problems.
OK, yesterday I watched a bit and tried some things in the Hidden menu, the last thing I know I've got something pressed factory reset test
since then booted the phone does not except directly into the TWRP, I can turn it off and when I want to load it comes the Lg logo and remains,
Unfortunately I can not enter the download mode
in TWRP I can see that something needs to be on it but, Cache: 16MB, Data: 355MB, System1910MB, etc. ..
times can you please see if there is the menu? But press nothing
So as I said, I can charge the phone in the TWRP, turn on, turn off, unfortunately, is not more.
I hope you understand my bad English!

Download mode is NOT vol up + power. To enter download mode:
1. Connect a USB cable to computer or wall charger.
2. With the phone off, connect the usb cable to the phone while holding vol up.
It senses the power on the USB cable, and combined with the vol up being held it boots into download mode.
With that said, I would say Factory Reset Test tripped a setting to make recovery the default boot. I'm sure there's a way to undo that without flashing stock firmware in download mode... lets find it.

Got good info in previous posts.
Holding volume DOWN + power button brings you to a recovery screen, either stock(factory) or TWRP / CWM recovery.
Holding volume UP + power button brings you to odin which then gives an option to continue or Restart.
You first need to root before flashing roms and also need to flash whichever recovery you prefer. You didn't mention if you had done so or not so I must ask.
If you can get into odin download the latest odin on your computer and your computer will install the drivers once you connect it via USB.

When your phone is in odin download mode connect to the computer open odin then go to your control panel and into "device manager" and check if your device shows up in there as an unknown device or not. If you have adb run the command "adb devices" as well and see if you get anything.

Did you check you "device manager" on your computer to see if it is even showing the device either as an unknown or maybe an error. Are you running Windows 7? Just to be clear, when you try holding volume down + power then when it turns on release the power button while still holding volume down until recovery screen comes up all you get is "Downloading...etc .."
As far as plugging the device in while in odin mode after pressing volume up to continue and plugging into computer you said you get an error on your computer correct? Just trying to gather all the info I can to see if you can fix it.
If its a driver issue or not recognized it might be due to the MTP which would lead you here for a solution.
What has happened at this point is you tried flashing a custom ROM on an un-rooted device with a stock recovery. Now at this point your phone doesn't likely have any of the original software in it to allow you to boot let alone even do a a recovery from stock recovery. Your lucky the device even powers on first off because if it was a hard hard brick the device wouldn't boot, charge, or flicker the screen regardless of button combinations and would need jtagd. Now even if you could return it they most likely wont because of the custom binary count at a 6.
most of all I need to know if your device shows up in device manager on your computer most likely located under portable devices. You might need different drivers at this point.
See if any of this information can help.

Read all the posts through the second page depending on your system you might have to do a different step. Wish I could explain more but without being in front of your computer its too hard. There is also a link in the first post to download the latest drivers also. Make sure you're using the factory usb cable that came with the tablet.
You're tablet is repairable just need to get the drivers working just dont go do anything else to the tablet itself until the drivers are working.

Sorry for the delay, I was looking for the original cable. I just find it but is still not recognizing the USB. I did follow up the link. Is say that the driver is update. The Samsung driver also say is installed but I don't see it on the Device manager. I don't really have a clue. I try to go to the Samsung folder and look for the .ini but I don't know which one if there is any for the Device manager. I try also. my friend. The same happened to me this morning. you should wait until the charge is over. When the charge is over, plug in the phone and immediately switch to the download mode and wait for the phone to enter the download mode. there is no other desperation. you should wait until the charge is over.
You must switch off your phone very quickly then boot to download mode
Please same happen to me

Place your phone into a refrigerator until its battery runs out.
Just recharge it to 15%.
Then hold 3 buttons at the same time : volume down, home and power. When the icon appears, press volume up. At this step you you can notice your mainboard at the top of the screen if you forget to know it. Then flash the stock ROM via Odin.

Love you brother ...

Please Help =(

So I bought this S10 plus..
When I boot to 'Download Mode' .. I get a Chinese menu I believe..
When I press Volume Up.. Bix and Power button I get this menu
:Recovery Mode
:Fastboot Mode
:Normal Boot Mode.
.. where I can go into the recovery and try getting to the download mode from there..
"Fastboot mode" is the download mode I assume?..
My PC Samsung drivers are updated.. I used all forms of Odin even the patched one.. and the phone refuses to be recognised or 'added' to Odin..
..the last problem is when I look into the memory of the phone from my PC .. it says 4.32GB free of 512GB ..
Wtf?.. I did factory reset.. recovery reset.. everything from recovery.. and it still says 4.32 free of 512GB..
... this is my first time with a Samsung higher than a S8 =(... I'm trying to get it connected to Odin and maybe get to wipe the entire drive but it just doesn't want to connect.
Help.. I've been trying to trouble shoot this for 3 days now using the threads here =(

I get the same menu with I press volume up + bixby + power. Now I'm not seeing any Chinese but I never booted up from fast boot mode. But I'm having other problems: my apps are frozen [see other thread]. I have the 128gb vers. Seeing your problem, I have little hope of fixing mine :/

Hey! Thank you very much ! i have tried this already..
VL up and bixby ..the samsung cable gives me a chinese menu.. when i did the translation the first option is a automatic test.. the rest has nothing to do with download mode or bootloader...
i tried different computers and ports with different systems and updated drivers.. nothing recognises the S10+ and it still says 4.32GB free of 512GB...
Thank you for your tips anyway!

remove the extra dots so can use the url.
To the both of you: Samsung doesn`t have a fastboot mode. The pics you post of the boot menu look different to what a Samsung phone looks like and also the buildnumber version is bogus. You have clones and NOT genuine Samsung phones. Contact the vendor for a refund or go to the police and report a scam.

Just copy the link, paste it in the browser bar , remove 2 dots and press enter.
only imgur 284iqh9 matches my issue.
the back of my "samsung" is black and no writing, none of that made in ... etc. Just the camera
this smartphone is a chinese clone
Use Phone Info apk. from the store , you will know the true info of your phone
