[AT&T] Taking picture while shooting video - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

What happened to the feature where we can record video and be able to press a button to take a picture at that moment..
Last night I realized this while I was recording the fireworks that were being displayed... Would've been nice to be able to take a picture while I was recording.

I believe you have to disable anti-shake or any image stabilization. I was able to take photos while I was recording video yesterday at the zoo.

while you are shooting the video, press the little camera button that is displayed. No kidding, it is that easy. You will see the frame border go to white and you just took a picture.

Thanks for that! Didn't realize that would block that feature

Taking a picture question....

Is there any other way to take a picture without having to press the capture image on the touch screen? Any buttons? I'm finding it difficult taking pics! :0(
Also, why does the pics always look zoomed in!? I took a pic of my ugly mug, and all i got was, was a pic of my nose hair!! :0( lol

My DHD is coming tomorrow and I wonder the same thing. Not having a physical button to press will make it hard for taking one handed pictures. Hopefully it can be hacked so maybe the volume rockers can do the trick.
Its a shame it doesn't have a external camera button! :0(

What did you use to record the video? The frame rate seemed weird and the white balance kept changing. Thanks for the vid though.

Frame grabbing

Is it possible to grab a single frame from a hd video on the phone and save it as a picture? Just wondering if there is something on the phone to do this or if there is an app for it?

Holding Home + Power should do it
Thanks for that but that captures the controls on screen but not the video picture, even if you pause it.

How to improve the camera?

Goodnight everyone, the camera phone is one of the things I use, I wonder if you have any tips for improvement? I'm currently with Carbonrom, I wonder if it also influences the rom? Sorry for my bad English.

Seems to me that the image quality of photos taken by the N4 is a bit hindered by the stock camera app. Try using 3rd party camera apps. I've had good results with Camera Zoom FX.
earned the hint, put the app you recommended, but it does not have HDR mode, you know someone who has, and that is better than stock?

You're only in the shooting modes, there are loads more features in the settings option (see first screenshot).
HDR is under scene mode in settings (second screenshot)

[Q] Camera

Just wondering if there is any way to get some of the camera options from the S3 onto this phone? I miss the option that allowed me to change the colors that showed in the picture. For example you could take a picture that showed only the blue or green objects or red and yellow. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Yeah they didnt add a lot of stuff like macro amd the colors like u said

This phone doesn't really need a dedicated macro mode because it can focus on really close objects with its default settings.

I continuously have to tap the screen to get it to zoom on an object when close.
