Hi folks...new guy here and happy to be amongst you.
My U8800 X5 was accessing the net through a USB cable to an Acer Aspire 4920 (on WIN7 Ultimate SP1) OK but now just wont do it.
Can you give me a checklist to work out how to get back on line.
Since installing Gingerbread 2.3.5 I have not been able to get online through wi-fi or bluetooth but USB was OK. All i want at the moment is to get online with a USB cable to the laptop.
Any advice is welcome.
Thx

Hi,
want to use my Optus wireless 5gb plan for data on my Atom, works fine with laptop & PC. The wireless modem is a Huawei Brand - Model E220 - HSDPA USB Modem. It has a mini usb connector and i have come across a data transfer cable that has a mini usb at each end... so E220 can connect to Atom.
Q.
1. does anybody know if I can use this setup for data (mini usb to mini usb) similar in function to a WiFi connection?
have plugged the E220 into my Atom but nothing happens (the drivers auto load on PC)
2. any help in the setup would be greatly appreciated
have read the wiki on setting up Atom as Modem but not sure if same steps to set the E220 up as the modem
No you cannot use huawei e220 as a modem
cos atom doesn't have host usb capability
and huawei e220 need to have software installed in the host so its imposibble
Just use your laptop and if you really like the small screen then connect the atom through your cable to laptop and you can browsing through your atom

There is a wiki on using the Atom as a modem... so even after installing the USB drivers that 02 suggest it will still not work?

this was where i thought would have trouble unless the USB drivers as per the wiki would work for the E220

actually want push email on PDA without paying for an extra data plan as better to share 5 Gb a month
Please excuse me if I'm missing the point ...
....But wouldn't it be simpler to simply put the SIM from the E220 into the Atom ?

Hi Guys,
Im trying to USB tether my Advent to the computer, so I can have internet access and transfer files. In the same way I can with my two year old Touch HD and activesync.
Whats the simplest way of doing this?
I tried PDANET, but that assumed I wanted to get an internet connection from my tablet to my computer, which isnt the case.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I think USB is going to be problematic, internet tethering was supposed to go the other way round
You could buy an addon wifi card for your PC then through windows use internet connection sharing to share to your device?
Or if you are going down the wifi road, buy a wireless access point, plug into one of the spare ports on your internet connection and then connect your Vega to that?

I was wondering if anyone has successfully been able to get their Honeycomb and/or Acer A500 to connect online with either a usb connection or with bluetooth?
I have a blackberry 8520 which i've installed pdanet on and as far as i know got it successfully running.
I was able to then pair the A500 up with the BB, but it said that it wasn't connected to the BB.
Is there an app that i should download and install on the tablet? I do have gingerbreak installed on here and this is rooted.
Thanks
Did you google that to see if usb is even possible.
PS - A5000 yours must be the model up from mine
I have been trying to Google it. From what I've seen, people have been able to connect via USB through their Android phones, by setting up an ad-hoc.
I've tried using the mini usb, but had no luck. And bluetooth pairs but doesn't connect.
I have been able to tether mine to my Samsung Galaxy and get the internet that way. I take it you can't do this with your BlackBerry. With regards to Bluetooth, I had a similar problem where it was paired with my phone but not connected. I noticed that if I sent a file from one to another it would then ask to connect and you had to give permission.
EDIT:
I don't know if this helps.

Goodday!
i got the following problem,
When i am trying to connect my hd2 with my computer it all works fine. But when i want to sync my phone trough active sync, it doesn't see my HD2. I can send packages like pictures or movies to my phone trough this bluetooth connection but i really want to update my HD2.
My phone doenst connect with usb anymore so thats why im trying to store an bluetooth connection. (I am using windows XP.)
If you guys could help me out i would be verry pleased, thnx instead!
Download and install Windows Mobile Device Centre, everything should work fine afterwards!
i thought that windows device center isn't working for windows xp users?
you want to update your HD2 using bluetooth because usb cable is no longer working?
Simply, Bluetooth is not a replacement for the USB cable. You can't apply ROM updates through Bluetooth, you have to fix the USB
Hi
I found some topics about that but some are old ,
how can I plug ethernet cable on iconia , I was thinking about USB adaptor but I didn t find name of product wich works.
Is it a prob of iconia or andoid ?
thanks
You'd need drivers for any device. Kernel modules, dunno if the Android kernel has any built already though. Should be easy enough to get some of the most common ones compiled though.
Hi
you mean I buy one, go to website of the supplier and try to find driver for android ?
I didn t think it was so easy
the best device for this, wifi router
You just plug in the ethernet cable and than...go wireless
ah yes I tried to use USB but you are right WIFI router is an other way, and in this case probably easier thanks
an other question about this wifi router, is it possible to use with all network ?, I mean my issu is when I am at the hotel ( very often ) and have only ethernet cable to connect .
I'm going to guess this is a laptop your using. Set up internet connection sharing and establish an ad-hoc connection to the tablet....profit.
If you're at the hotel with a desktop for some reason you can always plug the wifi USB adapter into it as well.
today when I travel I have 2 laptops , company laptop which is totally locked and I can not anything and I carry my own . I wanted to avoid to bring mine and use tablet .
it s why maybe wifi touter is good idea but don t know if I can just plug on hotel network .
You should be able to, just have to config it as an access point. It will basically act as a switch with wireless.
