I admit I was a bit too hurry on this post.
For I9020T/I9023?
I agree, really need to post what version it's for... I've seen some people reporting bricks lately because they got trigger happy and flashed the update without making sure it was compatible with their model.

I can confirm it works on I9020T
I went from CM9 Kang to this with just a wipe and everything is working as expected
Please
Can someone verify the OTA
2.3.6 => 4.0.3 OTA has network registering issues in my country
It takes 2 minutes to find and register on a network after boot when EDGE only on
May be this will help the issue

Current version is 2.3.7 Oxygen ROM.
So I just copy it into the sdcard, boot into recovery, wipe, flash this ROM and done?

DFP-231 is a BL7 build. None of the exploits will work with that. You need to flash the rooted SBF to your phone.
This will work..[success!] defy bl7 root!
Or DFP-188, DFP-231, DFP-2311 BL7 Finally Rooted
They are both same.
Well if you dont mind me asking how do i flash it and i dont really want to lose all my data are you sure there is no other way
There isn't a script to do that so you have to flash the SBF using RsdLite..
There is a guide for that search for it..
Also see the threads in the previous post, some users were able to flash those without wipe..
Ok But are you sure there is no other way to do this because i heard flashing might void my warrentiy
AFAIK there isn't another method yet..
Rooting will void your warranty not flashing

The sbf flashing method works for dfp231 builds. you'll need to download RSDLite. google for instructions on how to flash sbf's using RSDLite. it works

Ok, I need to root my Motorola Defy+ and install CM10. As I understand, it is a 3-step process i.e.
1. Root
2. 2nd-Init
3. flashing custom ROM
I have the following specs:
- System version 45.0.2310.MB526.AsiaRetail.en.03
- Android 2.3.6
- Kernel version 2.6.32.9
- Build number 4.5.1.134_DFP-231
I want to know the safest way to root the phone. I tried SuperOneClick 2.3.3 a while back and it wasn't successful. It hung/crashed in the process and I finally disconnected the phone from PC.
I saw this XDA thread on how to root this above build number. However, that starts from wiping Data/Cache TWICE! So I'll lose all my apps and settings in that step right?
Before committing to that, I want to make sure there is NO OTHER root method possible for Defy Plus.
According to me, you cannot root your device without wiping/loosing your data. You need to flash that SBF through RSDlite then only it can be rooted.
and this method works perfect !! i had tried it by myself on MB526 with bl7.

Unfortunately, there isn't any other way to root the BL7 builds.. And trust me its by sheer determination that there is this one.
You can use a backup application to backup your apps/data and restore it afterwards.
but u lose not all data, only the app data and apps that u don't have from Google PlayStore. if u logged in the first time Google sync ur apps and contacts data back, if u have synced ur data before with ur Google account.

Thanks for your reply guys. Seems like this is the only way out. Downloading the SBFs now.
Two more questions:
1. Which SBF to use? CN or CEE? I heard some issues with the CN one.
2. Which version of RSD Lite to use? I have downloaded both 4.9 and 5.6

Btw, there is no such thing as Defy+ green lens. And you dont need any camera fix for Defy+. Just follow the root procedure and flash whatever ROM you want. No additional battery/camera fix required.

yes you can but is not indicated
dont flash a full SBF 2.3.6 Defy+ on your phone becouse you will upgrade the bl version and cant go back if you need it for waranty or something else.
use a fixed SBF of 2.3.6 Defy+, in this way you will not affect the bl version

Yes i know that i should not flash full sbf. i was just asking if there is any stock 2.3.6 (fixed sbf+nand backup) or maybe a flashable rom on cm7 kernel which is fully working(i.e. stable, rootable) on green lens mb525.
Also will i need greenbreadmod for flashing fixed sbf?? Also i have a class 6 sdcard so i might also need mmcfix.

Where can I find a sbf for this build?
Code:
build number-4.5.1-134_DFP-891
Link to all sbf's

U won't find sbf for the build u specified... Same problem was seen months back....
And the solution was to try and flash every sbf....
Well that's a tiredsome job..
By my personal opinion u try this 1 :
4.5.1-134-DFP-231 - retail, vodafon, tmobile, O2, full Blur
I use it whenever I brick my defy+
