[HACK] Removing keyguard and other security policy restrictions from Email apk - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Did a little searching, but I finally found it. I did not make this, but I can confirm that it works perfectly. Requires root of course.

[Q] Blocking amazon updates

I recently decided to block to next update just in case amazon breaks my root again. I went about trying to usual, freezing the process (but I couldnt find the service with app quarantine) to redirecting the server to 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file (which I never got working either, it never blocked amazonaws.com)
What I ended up doing was blocking amazonaws.com in my router, and now everytime my fire powers up I get a dialog saying "the Wi-Fi network you are connecting to requires you to sign in before accessing the internet. Would you like to sign in" and the wifi signal icon always has an X on it now.
Question is, is this a common phenomena when blocking the server?
Do any of the other methods not pop up this dialog box?
that worked for me:
kf was and is registered
removed /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip -> update downloaded but did not install -> was automatically deleted from cache folder after failed attempt to install
no guarantee !!!
Is the update installed from cache our the kindleupdate folder? I have some other ideas on blocking, but I am notsure on this part.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium
I used app quarantine, and locked OTASilentInstall. I would provide a link, but I can't yet.
Also added:
127.0.0.1 s3.amazonaws.com
Hoping it stops the updates.
this will not work ! - allready tested and confimed
the only working and confirmed method is to deregister !
i did not deregister, watched the download ... see above
for me my method worked and i see it as confirmed for me.
btw. use the search function - there is a quite big thread about this !
So even after actually locking down the OTA app it will still update?
for shure !

[Q] How to uninstall wireless certificate?

Hello there guys.
My work's wireless network requires the installation of a certificate to be accessed, which is a .p12 file. I have such a file and the key to access that were used on my notebook, so I tried installing it on my phone to see if it could access the network.
Turns out it still requires some access info I'm unsure about, so I gave up on the idea. Thing is after installing this certificate the phone required me to draw a pattern or a set a code to access the phone, and tbh I was keen on having no security at all.
Now I can't enable lower level security unblocks on my phone, and I can't find where I could uninstall this certificate to remove this lock.
Does anyone know where I can uninstall it, or where I can find the file inside my phone? It's not on the root of the phone anymore.
I have an unrooted GT I9505 (and plan to keep it that way). Thanks!!!
Hi admins, pls delete this post. I just found out how to do it
Had to go through security and then clear credentials.
Sorry for bothering.

[Q] how to use lbe privacy guard on verizon s5

I found this video from IEEE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KMMfxOoCjg&sns=em In the video it looks like they are using an option in superuserex to modify permissions, but superuserex requires recovery to update the binary code. I installed the apk and updated chainfire superuser, so I'm wondering if any more security is necessary. I found this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lbe.security.lite but it doesn't seem to work with kitkat. I noticed some threads about LBE but wasn't able to figure out if there is a fix to use it on my phone and mabey my SM-P600.

NewsOn apk working on Fire KS 5.2.1.1

Hi I have NewsOn apk working on my AFTS but I can't get the application to work on a coworkers AFTS. Can I copy and paste files from my device to another so that NewsOn will work the same as on my device?
The problem is NewsOn requires Google services, which I somehow was able to install on my device but can't get it to install and run on my buddy's.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
In the tech world - dependancies are nothing that you just shrug off.
If the app needs the Google Services Framework, it needs the google services framework. And it will always ask for it - ad nausium, and probably quit if it doesnt find it.
On Android in general - an easy way to copy apps and its settings ("save data") from one device to another one is Titanium Backup.
You need root to use it - btw. That are other "cloud backup solutions" that don't require root per se, all of those arent very good. Without root you run into severe limitations with restoring app data. Because of the android security framework (one app isn't allowed to write data into another apps data folder).
But that doesn't help you one bit - if the app requires a Google framework thats on your device, but not on your "buddies".
Theres no magic that will solve that.

Thank you for your input.
It seems like there's always a catch or a road block to work around in the "Android World".
This problem I'm faced with, doesn't it seem like there has to be an achievable fix?
Im just not on that level to know exactly why or pin point what I did that gave me the ability
to use an app that from what I kind of understood isn't possible to install on a non rooted fire stick.
Isn't there a method I've must have unknowingly performed that enabled me to use NewsOn?
Or could it just be a glitch or fluke?
I haven't heard or found anything on the web indicating someone has installed an app on a non rooted fire stick that requires Google services in order to function.
What's your or anyone elses opinion on this?
Thank you for sharing.
I was able able to install and get working NewsOn on a Firestick Gen 2 without root. Installed NewsOn (Apps2fire) then dumped my Google Play and Play Services from my phone (apk manager +) and used apps2fire to install them on the Firestick too. BINGO! Unfortunately I can NOT get it working on Fire TV Box using the same method..

How to make Location services work?

I was not planning to root my Fire HD 10 (7the generation) OS 5.6.2.0 so I got the 4 google account files set up as per instructions. Worked perfect. Then I installed Nova Launcher and had to add Launcher Hijack to make it stick. All worked great except no widget support. Solved that with some ADB commands also found here on XDA.
Now I discovered same as others that my location services do not work but could not find a way to make it work without undoing all I did, rooting it and then doing it all again with root. Can I avoid rooting and redoing it with any fix on top of what I already done?

This has worked consistently through numerous resets. This hasn't failed me yet. The key is to make sure location services are turned on before installing any Google apps or deleting bloatware. See here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/help/fix-how-to-google-location-services-t3813111

Thanks for the response!
I saw this before but was not sure I wanted to go down that road. Well I decided and here I go. I intend to try the following root process. Please let me know if any other preferred method is likely to be more reliable.

Its done and working!
